  1. Wow, 1 week off NF and so much progress to see when I get back! Congrats on the progression.I will try to be more mindfull of my hip hinge timing from now on.
  2. Took a week off the forum and drastically reduced internet use. It's just good from time to time. Don't worry I kept lifting those KB :-) (I took more rest though). The 20kg is progressing slowly. The TGU is very hard with such a weight. For the swing, the limiting part is still the grip as after 2 sets my hands start to get sweaty and I don't feel my grip is strong enough to continue safely. I started to add a few snatches here and there. I started to track my work-out on fitocracy : it's easier to fill just after my workout and gives points so that's fun (www.fitocracy.com/profile/BeWip). Now for the training log : Friday 6/03 : warm-up circuit, swings : 20/12/12/12/12/12/12, TGU : 20/12/12/12/12. Fitocracy score : 657 Saturday 7/03 : rest day Sunday 8/03 : rest day Monday 9/03 : warm-up circuit, swings : 20/20/12/12/12, TGU : 20/12/12/12/12. 4 snatch per arm with 12kg Fitocracy score : 617 Tuesday 10/03 : warm-up circuit, swings : 12/20/20/12/12, TGU : 20/12/12/12/12. Fitocracy score : 577 Wednesday 11/03 : warm-up circuit, swings : 20/20/12/12/12, TGU : 12/12/12/12/12. 9 snatch per arm with 12kg Fitocracy score : 616 Thursday 12/03 : rest day Friday 13/03 : rest day Saturday 14/03 : warm-up circuit, swings : 20/20/20/12/12, TGU : 20/20. Fitocracy score : 585 Sunday 15/03 : warm-up circuit, swings : 12/20/20/12/12, TGU : 20/12/12/12/12, Snatch : 12/12/12 (sets of 10 per arm). Fitocracy score : 730 Monday 16/03 : rest day
  3. Congrats on the progression. I can now do 2 to 3 sets of one-arm swings depending on the days. Regarding TGU I can only complete 1 full (get-up + down) TGU per arm. I can do 2 sets if I don't do the going down part. That is the part I am most worried about for reaching the deadline. I'll update my battlelog now.
  4. Thanks guys! The first challenge is now over and I'm not updating this thread now. I'm still continuing on the same path though. I have my battle log and a PvP with ElastiGirl on increasing the weight on the simple and sinister goal if you'd like to follow along. Cheers
  5. Hope you are okay and will get better rapidly. Smart of you to skip kb. For me movement does help recovery to stimulate blood flow. So does applying heat or cycles of heat and cold (still to stimulate blood flow to bring nutrients and stuff to the area). If you decide to go with kb, careful with the weight and strain !
  6. Thursday 5/03/2015 Here is today's session (12kg and 20 kg kettlebell) : Warm up : 3 times (5 goblet squats, 5 hip bridges, 10 haloes) : 12/12/12, last 2 sets of goblet squat with 20kg 100 one-arm swings : 20/12/12/12/12 5 turkish get-ups per arm : 20/12/12/12/12 This time I was able to get down of the TGU but only for the right side (my strongest side). Did not feel confident enough yet for the left side. Tomorrow is rest day and it will be both appreciated and difficult not to try to lift that damned kb.
  7. The level from people on NF is always inspiring. Following along
  8. I found you're thread searching for info on the books by Mark Divine. I am thinking of reading 8 weeks to seal fit. I think I read the millionaire next door few years ago. The new trend for some people is to work towards financial independence. If you're interested in it you could look at Mr Money Moustache blog and the book Early Retirement Extreme. They are quite extreme in their approach but it helped us (me and my wife) decide on doing things differently than our peers.
  9. humm, shinny gadget ! Those dashboards looks really cool. I have absolutely no experience with long cycle so I cannot notice a lot of things except for your rack position that goes from really narrow to wide. Don't know it it means anything though. Regarding performance, have you tried taking a break from this program and doing something different for a few weeks ? Not sure it will work for you but for me it's usually how I break through a plateau in other areas than fitness.
  10. Not too bad. I already tried it with both the 9kg and 12kg in rack position for up to 3 sets of 5 but I dialed it down not to put too much pressure on my knees too soon. I previously had recurring problems with inflammations and kneecap not tracking correctly that went away with muscle building. I felt small signs that it was not good yet.
  11. Thursday 5/03/2015 Here is today's session (12kg and 20 kg kettlebell) : Warm up : 3 times (5 goblet squats, 5 hip bridges, 10 haloes) : 12/12/12, last goblet squat set with 20kg 100 one-arm swings : 20/12/12/12/12 5 turkish get-ups per arm : 20/12/12/12/12 So today was the first day using the 20 kg kb. Going from 9 to 12 was a matter of simple linear progression. Going from 12 to 20 clearly is not! Some muscles are not really strong enough yet, mainly shoulders and grip strength. I got very distracted by the fact that I had to squeeze really hard the handle at the top bottom of the swing not to let the kb go... For the TGU, I was able to get up but I did not feel confident enough to get down without risking to drop the kb of injuring myself. It's still mixed feelings for now. I have a great challenge in front of me and need to grow with it. There still is in the back of my mind that nagging voice that it's too much, too fast. Bodies adapt quickly though so I think that voice will quickly shut up with the next few work-outs. On the plus side, the 12kg feels now very light!
  12. Those are some nice work-outs. How long do they take roughly ?
  13. I don't think it's cheaper than dumbbells. Also there are less chances to find some 2nd hand contrary to dumbbells that people buy and then never use and resell. In the end I bought the 20kg so Yeay for new kb. I'm not yet fully ready to sell/give away the 9kg. I'm doing few presses every other evening using a pistol grip to strengthen my grip. Also I might keep it for doing windmills and stuff like that in the future. I don't think I'm strong enough to pull this with the 12kg yet.
  14. Wow, congrats on the PR ! You will reach your goal way faster than June 15th at this speed !
  15. Thanks for the advice EG and TML. So I went to the shop during lunch time and bought the 20kg. I was able to clean & press it once and do a tgu. I was surprise to succeed with both. Also the difference was only 5 euros between the 16 and the 20 so that one was cheaper by the kg I will have to take it slowly since it's quite a stretch from the 12kg but I look forward to this challenge. Wednesday 4/03/2015 Rest day
