  1. First day back to work (3rd) and on the motorbike and I got knocked off, because of the weather I was driving very very carefully, high vis jacket was on and lights working. Coming down a nice clear straight road a taxi driver just didn't see me and decided to it across an I hit his wing I slid down the seat up the tank and into the handle bars which am told I bent!!! So the injuries are gladly not too severe from my POV but I've split my pelvis (happens to woman at child birth) and sliding up the tank was like a massive kick in the nuts. The full leather padded gear saved me from any cut, grazies or broken bones. The police and paramedics were really great and the driver accepted full responsibility so no charges. Bikes a gonna sadly and I can't walk without a frame, got some drugs but might try getting something stronger. Just wanted to share my bad start to the year and ask all drivers to please take more care on the road and bikers not to take for granted your freedom on the road
  2. Seeing as NF has been helpful am hoping for a little more or my weights workout. My workout is basically a quads, butt and hamstrings, push, pull, core My push is bench press and push ups My pull is dumbbell row and assisted chin ups My core is various abs exercises It's the quad and butt/hamstring exercises need guidance on. For quads I can't decide if squat or lunges (or something else) For butt/hamstring thinks deadliest or step ups (or something else) I do weights Monday, Wednesday and Friday if circuit class isnt on, Tuesday is spin and boxing and Thursday is Thai box. Trying to get the weight days doing best I can without overdoing it affecting the other days Appreciate your feedback Thanks Gary
  3. I'd recommend reading the success stouter if others on the main site, I re-read from time to time to get motivation and remind me my goals are achievable. Once you learn some basic weight lifting techniques etc you'll be in the gym working hard and loving it!! Good luck
  4. I'd be gutted if mine closed, it's helped me learn so much and get on with the instructors and members. Was worried as didn't see owner for a while.....i was opening a new gym....all's good here
  5. Bury Lancashire Go Brits, ( we're one big happy kingdom )
  6. Just a quick update, weighed last Friday 91.1kg, been trying to stay Paleo and workout hard, had to get weighed tonight (Thursday) as busy Friday, 90.1kg Very happy with that start
  7. Still to get my copy of Revelations, worried it'll stop me going to the gym lol
  8. Thanks guys, local health shop has a kilo tub on offer so it's not a waste if I stop. Is it important when I take it in the day? I finish work at 5pm and usually go straight to the gym, so can have it before I go or at home --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=53.580701,-2.230360
  9. Was wondering if it's ok that I take a protein shake once a day? I'm hitting the gym at least 5 times a week (just finished a 1hr spin and 1hr boxfit class and I ache so much) and aiming to drop weight (currently 91kilo) I'm pretty much getting into Paleo diet and wouldn't mind replacing a small meal after lunch with a shake. Thanks
  10. Rock and Metal for me with a decent set of ear phones, should have cost £40 but got on sale for £10, sound great on my tiny mp3 player and fantastic on my ipod! Need heavy bass and fast beats for a pump boost! Even have some Rocky montage tracks when I need a boost in motivation "Dragoooooooooooooo"
  11. I like what robot said, it's a great distraction, when lifting there's nothing else, just somemore reps and sets. I enjoy the feel after, go home proud, I achieved something! --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=53.580598,-2.230141
  12. Hi Patchwolf Of your above goals I must say the last one is most important, you will not succeed in anything else unless you enjoy Revelations!
  13. Thanks Catspaw With you list I'll be able to get right idea but I am not happy about losing corn on the cob or tinned sweetcorn, loved it on my salads! oh well, it'll be a treat. I keep telling myself "1 day at a time", no way can I learn everything instantly, just do my best and keep at it Am improving my diet of fruit but it's hard to store so much at home and work, is tinned fruit ok?
  14. I'm slowly starting my Paleo diet and having a heck of a time reviewing my current eating and removing bads and upping the goods. Wouldn't mind a good book or website can print of of the do's and don't of food. Any suggestions? Thanks
  15. The trainers at my gym I would class as friends now, 1 guy I chat about random things, the girl there we talk about our cats, never had any pressure for paid PT sessions or advice but I get it anyone. Weight plan is basically a full body workout, Quads Butt and Hamstring Push work Pull work Core work 4 sets, 8 reps, giving it some weeks to see what results I get and then maybe muscle groups focusing each day, I overal body strength is random, I can do a good few pushups but not a single chin up, got a decent punch but lack enough balance. As for diet, have already got rid of junk food and saying no to alot of food we have to cook off at work, alot more reading on Paleo to do but already very interested, will miss my pasta!!
