SoloisticDrew's quest to regain fighting form

Starting this week on Sunday night. One round of HIIT and I want to puke. I'm shaking off last week and punching this one square in the nuggets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Ugh, what a week. I've lost steam and I missed a workout. Hopefully this week gets better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'm running into a problem. When I go to put my hands on the bar, I have to get my hands really far apart. I've pinched my fingers a few times racking the weights because of this. Also, since Im lacking flexibility, the bar sits too high on my back. Any good recommendations on how to fix this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BAM. Like that, I have four appointments with my trainer to work on conditioning. Next week is looking up and this week is on the tail end. One day of work and two workouts to go. Next week, it's SO on. -
A word to those looking for the best martial art.

We hit with rattan too, but minimum thickness is 1 1/2". More concussive than percussive. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Ok. What kind of sticks are they using? Those cannot be hardwood if they are taking shots like that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

The slings and arrows of my sworn enemy (the baker in my office cafeteria) are becoming futile. Workouts going strong even if a foot injury is stopping me from pushing on my 1 mile time goal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
When I was a field tech, my usual lunch joint if I didn't pack my lunch was Chipotle. I'd get the salad with steak, pico and verde, veggies, and double guac. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yesterday my lunch was veggies and baba ganouj (really easy to make) pork chop left over, two boiled eggs and an Avacado. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Done! I'm following two of the threads in the recruits last page to push them back to the top. Evilcow and JenWen, you guys got this.
-
EvilCow, you and I are in the same boat. I can tell you all about the challenges with packing lunches and eating like crap if you don't (field IT tech on the run). I'm envious of the hiking challenge, are you somewhere warm? I must say, even though this place can be overwhelming, this is a great community and we are all here for you.

Hey JenWen, I wanted to pop in and give you some encouragement here. Congratulations on giving this a second try. I think your goals look great and are worth striving for.

Society for Creative Anachronism?
SoloisticDrew replied to Sarcasticgrrl's topic in Yoga & Martial Arts
My friend had his forearm broken in the field battle at Pennsic a few years back. He took a freak shot that landed between his demi-gauntlet and vambrace. So, yes, exactly that. He still fought in most of the rapier points after that. -

I can believe it. The worst injury I've had so far is a nasty bruise on my thigh from a Tuchux during an authorization while in Atlantia. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Low energy last night. I had to change up the order of things to accommodate other gym goers. I could barely finish pull downs. Curls were miserable. On the upside, I added another 5 to squat and deadlift felt amazing at the weight I struggled to pull all 5 reps previously. I'll be working with a personal trainer next week and adding HIIT to my week this week. I feel so much better now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'm not able to add a signature. It's not showing in my control panel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edit: Nevermind... I found it.

Umm.... I can't add a signature. The option isn't there. Edit: found it.

The scale is moving in the right direction. Down to 334. I followed Rip's instructions for better squats and added another 10 lbs. The last set was tough. I took deadlift up another 5 lbs and I'm starting to hit a wall. Curl and press feel like beast mode I've come a long way. I'm ready to move those up. Pull down has been great until now. I'm struggling to get the last rep in. I did 4 in the middle set but pumped my self up to get all 5 in my last. I can push through it. Row has finally broken through for me. I was stuck at 154 for a while but it feels good to move off it. The last set really is hard and the last rep is a huge challenge but I'll take it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

For the record, my training regimen is mostly weights right now 3 sets of 5 of Squat Dumb bell OH Press Dumb bell curl Seated Pulldown Seated row 1 set of 5 deadlift -
Starting weight 340 as of 2/17/15. I've started tracking my weight training and watching my progress since the beginning of the month. Monday night the 23rd I hit the gym with a new found vengeance with this challenge. Last night, I got back to fencing and got comments about my footwork and motion being great. I'm attributing this to the focus on legs. Tonight, I hit the gym and look to feel even better about my deadlifts.

I'm wanting to add things to my quest aside from the mini challenges. Where do I go to do this?

If you like Hummus, try Baba Ganouj. Tahini (ground sesame seeds), egg plant, lemon juice, olive oil.
