  1. Calibre sees his new Ranger buddy Nic coming over to join him, smiles and pulls out a seat. ""Come and sit, warm up, the weather has been a beast lately!" Noticing one of the New Yorkers at the top of the rucksack, he gets a thoughtful look on his face and starts thinking of some things. "Quite the hall they have here, don't they?"
  2. I know the feeling. The best plans get caught up in a change of normalcy. I'm ready to get some normalcy back in my routine. Week 1 will be excellent!
  3. Week Zero Setup So the week has been somewhat of a cluster-frak but small strides are what will make for success. During my previous challenge, I started to perform a 30 Day Challenge from Darebee in addition to my exercise goal and I think this time it'll do me well to do the same. With that in tow, I think that I can really get some major exercising in during the challenge. Some fruit has been bought as of tonight so I'll have some bananas and apples to start off the challenge. I'm thinking of some oranges too but I'm going to need to figure out a few more ideas especially ones that can hold up a little longer than normal. I feel like I could something else for the challenge but that will hopefully come up before Monday. We'll see what the weekend will bring.
  4. A tall redheaded male enters the tavern, bits of ice melting off the ends of his cloak and bo staff. Small strings of herbs and leaves are dangling on the inside of the cloak and a pack full of tools on his back "A pot of hot water, if you please" he says as he pulls a small roll out that contains some floral herbs and a mortar and pestle.
  5. Here for so much encouragement and seeing many successes! Cleaning out a place with a decade plus worth of 'stuff' is really difficult.
  6. The weather gets real weird here but it's something to keep us on our toes
  7. Oh I'm here with you!! Greatness!!
  8. A NEW RANGER ENTERS THE RANKS Ok, I only slightly promise not to cause too much trouble or drama, @RES will vouch for me So, for the uninitiated let me give you a brief synopsis on me: just turned 42, male, married, Michigan born and bred, seriously needing to be healthier. So, with my obsessions with film and TV in tow, I bring you my new version, Calibre 2.0! Now, for my first journey with the Rangers, I'm going to expand on parts of my previous challenge, work in some newness, and see what else bubbles up to the surface! For starters, here are the primary goals (may add if desired): Food - eat at least a piece of fruit daily! Exercise - workout for at least 15 mins 3x a week, one involving walking So far a basic start but I've got thoughts and plans I hope to work in before Week One. Let's do this!
  9. Of course I'm back here for your awesomeness!! I need you to keep me straight and on track
  10. Challenge Complete! Recap! The final week of the challenge had quite a few bumps and bruises but overall I think this challenge went pretty well (especially for getting back into it all). Exercise -- None during Week 4 but I did mostly keep up on the Toe Touching Challenge and I'm still trying to get it in daily. Food -- Nothing handmade during Week 4 but I'm getting the ideas down for getting some more stuff done, especially trying to cook for one. Finances --- I did get my first car payment automatically set up to be paid after payday this week and be almost 10 days early! Keeping up on my finances and being aware of my stuff. No change to the credit score so that's a good thing. You're going to be seeing more of me here!! Just now I'm going to make a little change. Keep following for more!
  11. Have a completely wonderful trip and can not wait to hear about EVERYTHING!!!!!
  12. That's freaking awesome!! I love my audiobooks and they are very helpful to get through some books. Especially if they have a really great narrator like Jim Dale with the Harry Potter books or James Marsters for the Dresden Files.
  13. Asa, I'm so very sorry!! Had to do the same thing to our Mitzi just before New Year's. Know that my heart is with you!
  14. Week 4 Midweek Update Long days at work and too much running around!! Lack of stable control doesn't help.... PLUS THIS STATE IS FROZEN!!!! Short version: no progress on the exercises, have done the toe touch challenge 2/3 days, no progress with the food goal and a small backstep on the finance (basically had something on auto-renewal come out this morning and bring me too low in an account). Better and more robust updates soon!
  15. Week 3 Wrap-Up So... the weekend starting Friday afternoon kinda got funky. Not to me personally but it affected my weekend significantly though in the chaos clarity and focus was somewhat maintained. As of Sunday morning I'm down to 317 so I'm down 5 pounds for the year so that's something amazing (but remember, my goal is to be 12 pounds lighter at year's end, if I hit it in the middle of the year it doesn't count ). Exercise: 2/2!! WHAT?!?! 2 of 2?? Is that a mistake?!? Nope!! I used Darebee again and found myself a workout that takes a good amount of time and effort and helps an area of mine that needs it. Yes, someday I'd like my waistline to actually be defined by my waist and not the size of my belly. Workout under the spoiler. As for the Toe Touching Challenge, I've kept myself up on it almost every day bringing myself to 14 of 20 days. I think that the challenge has helped me not feel very achy in my abs during or after the new workout (either that or I'm not doing it right :P ). Food 0/1: Planning and execution: two things I didn't have enough of last week to pull this one off. Could have rolled with another steak but you can't (necessarily) eat the exact same thing every night. Need to execute better and plot better. Finances: No further progress My credit score didn't waver and I didn't do anything to really tweak my finances this week so no progress can be good progress in this respect. I do have to get my payments set up for the new car so that I'm ready for next payday. The final week of this challenge is upon us all!! With what I've got in hand right now I can't see any reason for my last week to be anything but a rousing success! Planning for the next challenge is coming along nicely and should be able to build on this one. Good luck to all on finishing strong!!
  16. Many thanks Lucky!! Most of the time I need to plan for eating for one so if it's something where I can put it together pretty easily and consistently that's the plan that works for me. That's going to go along with some of my future plans, making it easier for a party of one to complete. Plus getting steaks like that at work is dirt cheap!! The stretching and exercise are nice goals and I've made progress to work in actual exercise beyond the stretching. It's a matter of habit and schedule. The spirit is very willing and I'm trying to make the progress, not just for myself but for the betterment of everyone's lives that I touch whether it be here, my patient-customers, my family. I' doing what needs to be done to be certain!
