  1. Imagine doing that but in 10 degree Fahrenheit weather for 3 different Christmas parades in one day. Talk about a cold day in Hell! Plus: I'll put my picture where my mouth is.
  2. Hello! The challenge is going well enough. Yes, the exercise is quite the issue because it was never something I've been used to doing. Did my workout this morning so hopefully that rotation will start (again, crazy morning person). I will take the luck, I don't feel like I have it that under control but I'm trying.
  3. Week Two Complete Overall I'm still feeling good about everything just had a few personal hiccups this weekend (I didn't really fall on my ass just needed some time to collect thoughts). Weigh-In/Main Goal: 329.2 lbs. (up 0.6 since mid-week up but still down 5.2 overall) Not letting it get me down, that won't help anyone or anything. It's only been two weeks, so what?!? Plenty of time to go. Quest 1: Exercise (2 out of 3) Didn't get my third workout in this week but now I'm going to try to get things working in the right way for me (I'm one of those annoying morning people that don't require coffee) so shortly I'll be getting in the first of 3 to 4 workouts this week. Quest 2: Soda Intake (7 out of 7) Keeping my soda under 42 ounces a day has gotten easy, it's just a matter of mental effort and not letting myself overindulge. Quest 3: Homecooked Meals (2 out of 1) I did get a couple of homecooked meals this week and even had some as leftovers last night. I see quite a few people talking about batch cooking so that might be something I need to look at in the future to help with this. 1/3 of this challenge is now done!! I've enjoyed everyone's support and suggestions and I am so happy to be here. Week 3 won't know what hit it after I'm done!! Have a great Monday!
  4. Kate, it's like the old saying, when I thing starts going well, something else will fall apart. But we don't have to let it control our lives. Anger just shows that you have passion and that shows me you have more than enough spirit to keep going with everything. Money issues are THE WORST! They seriously eat at you and you feel like pulling out of it is impossible. The scale is going to be an evil little monster sometimes but do not let it. It may be saying that you aren't going anywhere but you are the judge of that. I've had weight fluctuation recently but I feel better because I know I'm adding muscle so that's going to make a difference. We are here to help if you need it. You can make it happen!!
  5. Isn't that the truth though?!? And sadly, my school was one of those "Bring It On" kind of schools where the band was better and more popular than the football team (and yes, I did just reference that movie, movies are just one of my many specializations). Parades, football games, not to mention the shows to put on, that will turn anyone's legs from weak to titanium fast!
  6. Congrats on all the goal successes this week. I am also new to everything here and everyone that I've talked to so far is extremely awesome and supportive. Don't even worry about starting late, just the fact that you started means everything. I know what you mean about having no one IRL that is there able to work with you at your goals but we are all out here for support, encouragement, and the occasional kick in the pants (though that seems limited to only me LOL). Something that caught my eye was the anti-anxiety meds you're on. From professional experience, they aren't the easiest to ween off of, especially with how they interact with the other systems of your body. I hope that things can improve that will allow you to be taken off them. Honestly though, sometimes you need to be direct and frank with your doctor and tell her that you don't want to be on them anymore and what needs to happen to be off them. Continue the great work next week!!
  7. Quite honestly, the best part of myself has to be my calves. I know exactly where they came from, genetics and many years in marching band. While it's been 2 decades since that time, I'm still quite impressed by their tone and texture. If I'm able to get a good photo I may be inclined to share. I've been told my rear is pretty great too but I think that's an "eye of the beholder" kind of perception.
  8. Decorations look GREAT!! Did you get the St. Patty's Hat candle topper already or did you already own one? Who cares about being Irish Catholic?!? If you're Irish or have a little Irish inside you, that's all that matters
  9. Those look to be very achievable goals! From one new member to another, welcome! This community is so very awesome and energizing, it's amazing. Wonder Woman thighs, my one friend would be jealous. Good luck and awaiting updates!
  10. Greetings All!! My name is Chris and I'm so extremely happy to be joining up with Nerd Fitness. I heard about NF about a month ago and ended up posting for the first challenge but just finally getting to an official introduction. A little about me: I'm a 38 year old male living in the Midwest (northern Indiana) but originally born and raised in the suburban Detroit area. I'm I'm just shy of 6 feet (5'11 and 1/2; 1.8m) and currently 328 pounds (148.8 k). My nerdiness knows few boundaries. A personal motto is "I'll try anything once, twice if I like it." Some of my major fandoms include Star Trek AND Star Wars, Doctor Who (both classic and current), Chuck, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, along many others. I love movies of many types, from sci-fi to comedy, and music, anything from pop & rock to jazz and music used in movies. Gamer of many flavors (video, board, card, RPG) and my brain doubles as a Vault of Useless Information. My goals for joining up here is to help in my efforts to better myself, mentally, physically, and spiritually. I've grown and adjusted into my current weight for almost 20 years but I know that, while I'm a good person, I can be an even better version of myself through effort and learning. Much of my family is very well-lived and I have a small worry that if I don't become healthier, I may not live as long as I'm supposed to. Plus, I'd also like to do things that might weight current hinder me from doing, like skydiving and running a half marathon. I have already seen and experienced so much support and help here and I knew that I'm in the right place! I have tried some weight loss programs previously but here, I feel like I'm part of a community of people that really are just like me. I couldn't be happier that I'm here. So, in a nutshell, that's me. Anything else, just strike up a conversation here or anywhere. I enjoy to talk, bounce ideas off of, listen, or just discuss things.
  11. You are just smoking things! You are super detailed and enjoying the updates! Week 2 almost done.
  12. I have thought about it and may be starting that next week. Tea has been brought up as an alternative, also trying to not get anything that would require too much sugar. Yes, this place needs better drinks but I just need to rock out with my own choices.
  13. Not the greatest for me probably but ground turkey, pasta, cheese, and cream soups. It tasted good but probably not the best for my diet. Thank you, I love the support here!
  14. Mid-Week Update: Weight: 328.8 (+0.2 since Monday but still down 5.6 total) I'm good with the weight because I know that's not what I need to focus on, I know that my goals will help with that and not to be discouraged. Exercise: 2/3 I'm super pumped up about this!! I've never really done a major exercise program before outside of a couple of classes in college. I haven't been able to finish the full 3 sets of the Beginner Bodyweight circuit (up to 1 and 1/2 as of last night) but I'm not going to quit. I will build up my tolerances and get it done!! Soda: 4/7 Reducing the soda is actually pretty easy once I put my mind to it. I'm not substituting with diet soda, not unless I really need to. So far it's been water or (at work) light lemonade. Drinking more water at home and that's really good. Homecooked Meals: 2/1 I'm giving myself credit twice this week because I have done two home meals this week, a casserole one night and tacos last night. While not great, it's definitely better than caving in an running up to McDonalds for a quick meal. Overall I'm liking where things are going but I know I'm going to have to put in more work to make this a success. Good luck to everyone and their weekend!
  15. OMG woke up this morning and my thighs aren't killing me! Body is accepting my workouts!!!

  16. Week one went well but definitely could have been better. Didn't get my bodyweight workout in until Sunday but now I'm making sure to do it every other day and gradually build up. I would say that the assassiny skill I'd want to do is a wall run. Plus, doing that I'd probably then work into a pull-up to get me over the wall. Most of my life I've been a bigger guy but nimble enough on the ground. Now I want to be more nimble off my feet. I've seen a few videos about wall runs and I think my first step is to just try to get myself moving so that I can stop at the wall and not try to slam into it. Hoping everyone's week two is going great. Recruits, we've got this challenge!
  17. Excellent, I may just ask for a further explanation. I this is a marathon, not a sprint. Healthy weight reduction but also toning the body will vary my weight. Plus quick Day 8 update: No exercise (but thighs are throbbing today from Sunday and must exercise today), soda good and under limits, no homemade meal but went out for steak so Yes!
  18. Lots of warm thoughts and positive energy coming your way Bekah!
  19. Week One Complete!! After the first week, I'm feeling really pumped up about the challenge. I know I can do this and I enjoy having all the support and community here! So far this first week (and overall for me this first month of my 38th year) is going great!! Weigh In/Main Quest: 328.6 (-5.8 total) OMG Seriously!?!? How did I do that?!? If that's just from the soda I'm floored (and I haven't given it up completely) Goal 1 (Exercise): I got 1 circuit of the Beginner Bodyweight routine completed last night but no more. Needing to do this more to get used to it and build my body. (0.33 of 3 times completed) Goal 2 (Soda Reduction): Even with my day off yesterday I did manage to keep under my soda limit all week!! SCORE!! (7 of 7 days successful) Goal 3 (Homemade Food): Only had the turkey burgers this week and I'm only counting that as a half success because of everything else with it. (0.5 of 1 meal completed) Overall, still plenty I can do to get up to my goals but so far so good. I'm thankful for all the support I've received so far and hope all of your challenges are going great!!! Week Two Begin!
  20. Greetings All!! Current Recruit looking at joining the Assassin's Guild. I'm kind of a jack of all trades when it comes to a lot of my nerdiness so I'd say one of my favorite assassins would be Deadpool, but more like this one Striving to get towards this one But I think that as for real Assassins, I'm going with a famous one, Vasily Zaytzev from the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II, made famous in the movie Enemy at the Gates Can't wait to learn more and train with my fellow Initiates!
  21. I have tried the lemonade/unsweetened tea one before, it works but I need to be in the mood for it. And true, I can hit the water button I really want to cut down/out the soda because I know in my head that they are just empty calories and the sugar can't help either. Caffeine I'm not worried about (yet) but mostly I want to cut it out so that I'm not just throwing calories into me that are easily substituted. Plus Final Results for Day 4: Still didn't get the exercise in (never really have in my life so this step is taking time to get planted) but did keep myself at 24 ozs. of soda. No homecooked meal because my appetite wasn't really up for food last night. 2 more days and Week 1 will be in the books!!
  22. With the prospects of a Texas-sized winter storm possibly on the way and a 9 hour work day Saturday, not too much. Hopefully will get some time to relax, get some more time in on the forums, get to know more of all the awesome people here.
  23. Day 4 Quest Results: Firstly, Fridays and Mondays are going to be my official weigh in days so since it's now Friday *drumroll* Weight: 333.4 (-1) Total Challenge Weight Loss: 1lb Workout: Didn't get to it last night but I'm shooting to still get 2 workouts in before the end of Week 1 Soda: 16 ounces, super awesome soda day. That 16 ounces was at the end of night with dinner. Homecooked Meal: Not tonight. Needing to spend some time on the NF Recipe posts Overall I feel I'm doing good but can always be doing better. Happy Friday to all!!
  24. Not going to say how I really feel about Apple products but.... yeah. Awesome work with the workout!! Hopefully you've gotten some rest and your iPad decided to get its shit straight! Can't wait to see your update.
