  1. I absolutely have to buy new clothes while I've been losing weight or I feel bad and lose motivation. I need things to fit, it keeps me motivated I just scored at the thrift store this weekend and found some gap curvy jeans for $5... they are AWESOME. Other than that I stick to target or old navy to keep costs down.
  2. A lot of men complain they can feel the line that attaches to the bottom of the IUD during sex. I have no idea if this is true or not....
  3. hah, yes. Squirrels would be tricky. They are mean little buggers.
  4. I mean it was only 1 rep, but.... 2 months ago I hadn't picked up a bar in more than 12 years. I'm pretty stoked about that. My squats sucked tonight, I sat down with 185, but got 175 up.... felt like my form was bad tho. 1rpm max on Bench was 105. Now for a fun filled night of math proofs and warm socks.
  5. My goals: weight loss mainly, but I need to increase my muscle endurance and strength as well. I think my muscle endurance is what is holding me back when it comes to roller derby. Doing the 25 laps in 5 minutes... its not that I'm out of breath or winded because of the cardio, its that my legs are shaking and unsteady by then end of it... slowing me down. This is my current weekly plan: Monday - skate practice, 2 hours... we do endurance drills here, as well as strength work Tuesday - easy skate practice at the park with other girls for 1-2 hours. Its more low intensity than actual practice but so far I've been considering it an active rest day. Wednesday - skate practice, 2 hours. Again endurance drills, lots of squatting, generally do the 25 laps in 5 minutes after an hour and 45 min of skating. Thursday - Rebel Fitness guide, level 2 which ends up being squats/lunges, military press or RDL, push ups, lat pull down, planks, etc. Generally 3 sets of 12 Friday - was a rest, I'm going to start hitting spin class Saturday - Starting strength : squat (130 last time), bench (85 last time), deadlifts (150 I think last time), then assisted pull ups or dips. Warm ups then 3x5 Sunday - rest because I know I have to skate monday and I'm usually still sore I really really like the starting strength, but I'm wondering if I'd be better served right now doing lower weight, higher reps for now? Or maybe keep the starting strength as is on Saturday and change thursday to a different routine? Maybe add in weights on Tuesday. Honestly I am not entirely sure as to what my best plan right now. I do know that I need a bit more patience, that skating uses different muscles than I'm used to, but any advantage I can find to give myself.....so I'm wondering if maybe someone else has an idea or thinks I should be doing something differently. Thank you
  6. tatpunk... I can't use tampons, they just never sit in place right and hurt? But I can use the cups. I 'm not sure the difference. I do know that most of the soft cup dealers offer a guarantee (or used to) ... maybe double check on that? Then if it doesn't work out you could email them and I bet they would refund you.
  7. Jedi - it depends on your flow. I change mine in the morning and at night but my flow is always really low. Its not healthy, I mean the blood sits up there otherwise... now its just collected in a cup rather than dripping down everywhere. You can change it as often as you'd like tho. I do it at night and morning because thats when I shower ... so I use the toilet, dump it. Wash it out with soap and stuff, then hop in the shower, and eventually re-insert. If I change it during the day I do the same...just without the shower. Toilet, dump, wash with soap, reinsert. And way too much TMI but one of the reasons I love the diva cup is that it makes life easier when your hormones are all "OMG HAVE SEX WITH ME NOW" and you have to take things into your own hands. Totally possible and not gross haha. However, as for the original topic? Skate while on your period? Sucks.
  8. I have a consultation for an IUD this week BUT for now I just took my last birth control pill and will be trying out a nuvaring. The IUD would be ideal for me BUT I keep reading horror stories from men that involve penis poking and that scares me. I don't want men scared of my vagina!
  9. *nods* When you are strict paleo by nature you tend to eat less calories, just because you physically have to eat more to make up for all the things you've cut out. Its doable but not that easy. Once you start reintroducing things into the diet that are not paleo, you introduce new calories and it is much easier to hit your limit for the day without realizing it. I got into a discussion with my BFF the other day about this sort of thing as she insisted I just needed to be more strict and I'd be losing more. In response I asked her to track her calories for the day because she always insists that she eats so much food and her weight loss is about the fact that she isn't eating grains rather than any sort of calorie reduction. When she tracked she found herself just barely at 1300 cals for the day when her maintenance level was probably 17-1800. Do I think paleo is the best way to restrict calories because it gives you more of the things you need (protein, fat, etc)? Absolutely. The composition of the diet helps your body function better. Ideally I'd be perfectly paleo all the time. But ultimately, in my opinion, paleo works so well for weight loss because it naturally curbs your calories by nature, once you start adding non paleo things in you lose that built in mechanism.
  10. I'm not going to be so drastic as to say cut out fruit because I lost most of my weight still eating 2-3 servings of fruit a day, but I did track my calories diligently. I would cut out juices because they are a waste of calories, but I eat a banana and an apple just about daily. Yes, if I cut them out entirely I'd probably lose more and faster but.... I want this to be something I can live with forever. I'd say that if you aren't tracking regularly, try it for a week and see what your numbers look like.
  11. Welcome! :) I just started doing derby last month... it is such a kick ass workout. :-/
  12. Katamay... my cervice points kind of down and it works ok for me. Actually a funky cervix is why I started using it.. After having my first daughter tampons were uncomfortable and awkward. The diva vits different and works a ok for me. oystergirl - I've had the same experience with my diva. Shorter periods, no cramping, etc. I'm lucky that I only have mine for maybe 3 days at most
  13. Hells yeah! Congrats. and holy wow on the grip. Strong hands are good.
  14. I've been using mine for 10 years (obviously not the same one haha) - love it. I hate tampons and the like tho.. I find those unsanitary. I can disinfect my diva cup whenever I need to.
  15. This is the story of my life. I actually took an inventory picture of all my socks last night. I <3 sock dreams. The Gumball socks (they make the nerd/bacon/zombie) are some of my favorite because they are so incredibly comfortable and well made.
  16. They also come in orange and brown http://www.sockdreams.com/products/nerd-knee-highs?back=search
  17. Have you looked at sockdreams.com?
  18. I have both the NERD and ZOMBIE ones. I have a sock addiction tho.....
  19. I use daily burn tracker. I like the pie chart
  20. Haha! I love my kids but hate most other people's kids.
  21. Hah! Yes. Working out in general raises my libido tho. Wait, once I turned thirty my libido went into overdrive anyway. No desire for more kids (They are overrated, I promise) but I definitely would jump almost anything that said hello in the right voice. Almost anything.
  22. I use Jefit and then fitocracy when I get home.
