  1. Hey BerBer Been watching for You to join in. Happy to see You in Assassins! Let's rock!!!!
  2. MAIN QUEST.....TO IMPROVE STRENGTH AND AGILITY PROWESS.................RAWR!!!!! To seek excellence in all endeavours expected of a Jedi. "Hark.....Tis a very lofty goal...........Let's go for it!!" A Jedi strives to aquire greater skill and expertise in what they do at all times so that it may be used in the service of the greater good and not for personal profit. This requires DISCIPLINE PATIENCE PERFECT PRACTICE Keeltydawn is just a fledgling Jedi sprite seeking for Knighthood of the Brethren. This is the First of the 21 Maxims of the Jedi. Keeltydawn has signed an oath to complete all 21. DISCIPLINE Strength Training and Interval Training l will do a regime of stretching exercises 6 days out of 7, taking one day off a week.....preferably Sunday. On strength training (StrongLifts 5X5) days (M-W-F) the stretches will be done as part of the warm up and cool down. On non strength training days, the exercises will be done both before and after the daily hike. The daily hike will include interval training on (T-T-S), taking one day off a week.....preferably Sunday. PATIENCE Agility Training I will train my dog in the sport of Agility 3 days a week (T-T-S). This involves setting up the equipment and taking it down and storing it. On Thursdays, the training is to be done with the Dog Agility Group that I have joined. I will show patience with my dog as he learns to work the obstacles and the course with me and I will show patience while waiting for our turn on the course. PERFECT PRACTICE Perfecting Form I will study and perfect the form in each strength training exercise that I perform, seeking information from many different Masters to include their insights into improving my ability to lift heavy things, including my own weight. I have struggled with squats for 6 weeks, just trying to do them with my own body weight and then last evening, I bent down to pick up a 50 lb item that I pick up all the time and realized that I use the perfect squat form to pick it up. I knew how to do it all along.....overthinking was totally doing me in. I will choose one exercise per week to perfect. Week One will be easy.....it is the Squat. Life Goal Drink 2 Litre of Water per day

You are doing push-ups on the 2nd step......You don't need the scale! You need a huge Congratulations!!! You are rocking this challenge!!! Whoot Whoot!!
  8. Is it a cold or allergies? I have 4 of my friends down and out with allergies right now. I mean on antibiotics and feeling really crappy.....so sick that they are off work. I have allergy problems too and I was chatting with the pharmacist and he told me that due to climate change, more people are being affected than ever before!!! Don't be too hard on Yourself! You are dealing with the knowledge of a newly diagnosed health issue and trying to figure out how best to treat it. There will always be another challenge to enter and all efforts in this challenge are adding up, even if it doesn't seem like it right now. Whether You have a cold or allergies kicking You in the butt, it is really not a good time to be pushing Yourself too hard. I hope You are starting to feel better. Take care of Yourself!!
  9. haha....I love Your sense of humour! I hope the carbs do too! Oh, but then maybe they will be enjoying themselves too much and stick around. I will be watching out for those naughty carbs in my next challenge. Three beer and I would be under the table...either that or dancing on it!! haha Too bad that You couldn't eat the meal You prepared though! Carb block!!!!
  10. Yes, BerBer....that is a really great idea! I am already on Level 4 with just a few more points needed to hit Level 5. They give out points every day that I log my exercises. I haven't checked into the friend atmosphere of Fitocracy but I know the information for each exercise is handy and recording what I have done is super easy. Fast and efficient. Look forward to seeing You over there.
  11. OK....I will see if I can find You on Fitbit. That is such a good idea!! Do you get into any of the challenges on Fitbit? I do. They really can motivate me sometimes......especially if the competitor is neck and neck with my numbers. I'd like to get one for my boyfriend....it might motivate him to get walking more. He loves to walk with me but by himself.....not so much!!! No, I haven't chosen a guild yet, but I have considered the Druids. I will have to look into it further. I was also thinking of the Scouts.
  12. It is hot and sunny and a beautiful day and I had a fantastic sleep last night and managed to get up with my 7 a.m. alarm and enjoy the entire day!!! whoop whoop!! I took in a 4.35 mile hike but got a late start so I just walked at a fast pace.....no intervals, so I am a day behind with them. On a funny note, I got behind 2 young men who were sauntering along with their big black lab and they had to step off the path and allow my little american cocker spaniel and me to pass them! The one young fella commented that I was going at a pretty fast pace. haha Kept it up for the entire 4.5 miles too, boys!!!!! Did my workout....push-ups and curls and hammer curls and presses. I tried to do a chin-up and found out the I can't even do one!!! Guess what is going to be on my list for my next challenge!! And since I can't do a chin-up and I really want to do a chin-up, I will be watching my diet from here on in so I don't have as much weight to pull up there!! I am only about 7-8 lbs overweight and that was fine with me although the lighter I am, the less there is to get off the ground so I will be watching my carbs from now on. Today, I am grateful for ... the playground that I pass on my hikes that has the monkey bars that showed me that I am not as strong as I want to be! ... the wild roses that smell so nice along my hiking trail. ... the end of the long weekend and all the tourists go home and my sleepy little town goes back to being a sleepy little town!! I know that is 3 more grateful than I needed to record for the day....but I am making up for lost time!!!
  13. I haven't been chatting in my journal about my goals as I am logging my walking and strength training goals in over at Fitocracy and my sleep goal only allows me so much free time on the computer. But I have been keeping up with my walking, training and sleep goals and feel really good about that. I am amazed at how disciplined this site has made me. Especially, having you guys popping in and commenting on my journal makes it that I feel accountable. What I have been lax at is writing down my Gratitudes for the day. I have them in the back of my mind so that I know what I will write but I run out of time to get them in print. Oh well, it is a start..... Today, I am grateful for ... my dreams. My dreams at night are usually silly things that don't make much sense. Like last night, I dreamt of walking into a shed with a lot of budgie birds and they all wanted to sit on my hands. I had about 15 budgies sitting on each hand! hilarious!! ... electrical power! Yesterday, I woke up to a power outage, so I couldn't have my morning coffee in my big leather chair with my doggy on my lap for company! That is my usual routine in the morning and we (dog and I) don't like to change it! :-)) ... my awesome sleep last night. I did a long hike yesterday along with a core workout and was really tired at bedtime. I slept like a rock!!!
  14. Yes, Emerald-Dragonfly.....I totally recommend that You check out Fitocracy. They have some routines already made out for us and you can pick and choose the exercises in the routine that you have equipment for. I have a few dumbbells and a matt and some strap on weights and an exercise ball and that is it for my equipment. Oh, I have a mat and an exercise bench as well. But as luck would have it, a friend of mine has a barbell with weights that he is going to let me borrow, so a mirror is getting set up to correct my form and a deadlift is in the making!!! I have a gym about 10 minutes away and I might consider joining it at some point in time but right now, I like doing my workouts at home where it is free! Besides, so much can be accomplished with just my body weight that spending the money on a membership seems not worthwhile. Yes, I totally love how working on my sleeping habits have made me feel. I work in the evening so getting to bed early some nights just isn't workable but getting up at 7 a.m. and having that entire day of sunshine is fantastic and then it gives me further incentive to get to bed earlier the next night. I am feeling much more rested. I will take a mozy over to your journal and see what you have been up to later today..... Thanks for popping in!!!
  15. Hi Karzam Meditation really helps me go to sleep. I have to force myself to go to bed on time but once there, if I start to meditate then I am usually asleep within 2 minutes! I know it only takes me 2 minutes because my sleep app tells me that is how long it took me to fall asleep. I am not meditating very regularly these past few weeks, but it is a practice that comes and goes for me. I really enjoy the benefits of meditation. The mind control that comes from the regular practice is very helpful during stressful time and for making yourself go to sleep....as I have found out. But first we gotta get to bed at a decent time. That being said....Nite Nite
