  1. I will be. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I have been busy this week.
  2. For the last two years I have been working on losing weight and going to the Y faithfully five times a week as much as I can. However I have two kids on the autism spectrum. One is high functioning and overweight so she goes with me to the Y to use the treadmill and it seems to be helping though she really needs more motivation. The other kiddo is low functioning and could never handle the Y. She has been putting on quite a bit of weight lately and I need to start supervising an at home weight management/loss program with her. Since she cannot go with her sister and me to the Y I have decided that I simply have to cut it down to 3x a week (Older daughters doctor wants her to walk two miles three times a week and she seems to like using the fancy treadmills). I have decided that within the next few months I am going to look for a good sturdy olympic style weight bench and some weights to use at home. I decided on the olympic size because I hope that my older daughter will eventually workout with me. I am hoping to find one on Craigslist but if I cannot find one relatively quickly then I will be buying one and adding weights as I can afford to. So any advice as to what would be a good sturdy bench to buy on a tight budget would be welcome.
  3. Thank you! Oh I am not a success story yet. I still have about 37 more pounds to go.
  4. Welcome back. I have actually been gone myself and just recently came back.
  5. Thank you both! Hubby is disabled with degenerative disk disease so he is just going to do some rudimentary strength training to try to regain some of the strength that he has lost. At least he can spot me and I won't be so terrified of the "mens side" of the gym with him around. I was going to do it anyway by myself but this makes it a bit easier.
  6. I have not been participating on the forums at all for a bit as I have been busy losing weight and working out! To date I have lost a grand total of sixty-three pounds over the last two years. That means I am down from a size 22W to a size 14 in clothing and have gone from a size 11W to 9.5W in shoes. I have been using My Fitness Pal to keep track of my calories and workouts. I bought the New Rules of Lifting for Women book and am going to strength train again using that program and eating plan starting next Tuesday evening. My hubby is going to try to go with me on Tuesdays, Thursdays and alternate Saturdays and Sundays. I guess I just got tired of using the machines at the Y and doing the body weight routine at home was hard because of all the distractions. I actually was going to do the program at home when my son had his olymic weight bench and three hundred and some odd pounds of weights here but he took them to his new place when they moved out.
  7. 60 pounds gone and I am down to a size 14 from a size 22w. From an XXL to an L. I have started reading New Rules of Lifting for Women. I checked it out from the library and I may decide to buy it or I might decide to just do the pull up bar exercises. Either way I am going to get back into strength training.I know that I need to.
  8. I got a copy of NRoLfW at the local library. In it the author says that they are presuming that the reader has no orthopedic impairements. My "impairement"is that I believe I have Plantar fasctitis and /or possibly a bone spur.I am trying to find a podiatrist that will make Saturday or late afternoon appointments. I cannot do bodyweight squats or lunges without causing damage/pain to my heels. I am back to my 8 am to 4:30 pm schedule at work after months of working from 9:30 to 6 pm so we are getting to the Y earlier now. I would like to start strength training AGAIN ( and this time stick to it without further injury)Actually I cannot do bodyweight lunges or squats without holding onto something for support or I would fall right on my bum. I finally bought a pull up bar for my doorways at home and last night I looked at the poster of exercises that came with it and I think I could do them without causing heel pain or injury. If I cannot get a late afternoon or weekend appointment then I will have to wait for the end of June when I get more vacation time at work. I do not want to wait that long to start. My question is should I give the NRoLfW a shot with maybe some modifications? Or should I try the pull up bar workout exercises? If I do the NRoLfW what modifications could I make? I have not finished the book yet but I do not recall mention of any. I will check out Lou Schulers website later.
  9. ME! I have lost seven pounds since starting to use my fitness pal to count my calores.
  10. This is my first challenge and I just realized that I was supposed to start a thread here . Well I did start the challenge and I am keeping my goals really simple. Lose five pounds, workout six times a week and keep trying to do a pull up and one real push up.For my life goal I want to start by saving $50.I have paid off a few small debts recently that I was making monthly payments on. Nothing major, but having a lot of small debts can be a pain. I have been using my fitness pal to county calories and track my exercises and it is really working.I have lost about seven pounds in the three and a half weeks since I started.
  11. I did start the challenge but due to life have not been able to post much lately. My goals are really simple. I want to lose five pounds,do a real push up and keep trying to do pullups.I am working out a minimum of six days a week.I want to save $50. Small steps ya know!
  12. You mean the ones we used to have to hook a coathanger through the zipper pull while sucking our guts in as much as possible?
  13. I am keeping it real simple. For leveling up my life I want to save $50. For my fitness goals I want to lose five pounds , keep under my calorie limit and be able to do one real pushup. I have lost 1 1/2 pounds since last week. I use my fitness pal to track everything and actually have lost six pounds in the last three weeks. My last fitness goal is to exercise at least six times a week. I have been doing great with my challenge so far.
  14. Stepped on the scale this morning and I have lost another pound!
