  1. Oh buddy, I made the most awesome sweet potato "fries" in the oven tonight. You mean to tell me that this heavenly side item is Paleo and thus is HEALTHY??? Deliciousness! Like, almost sinful! 1. Day 25 of Whole30 is finished. It's been a good 25 days, and I'm looking forward to extending my Paleo eating with a few non-Paleo items thrown in very occasionally just to keep me balanced (and motivated because I'm sure when I eat nonPaleo my body won't like me very much). 2. I did one whole set without stopping today. Feet still not inclined, but I tried that out on Monday and I did pretty decently. Go me! I've also decided to start CrossFit before the rates in my town go up... might as well get in on the action! So I'm sure my incline rows with feet elevated will be easily taken care of soon. 3. $500 is still in the savings account. Will it stay there? We'll see!!!
  2. My goals are boring and too easy. Hmmmpfff. *pouts* 1- Day 22 of Whole30. I'm doing awesome, unless you count that tonic water and lime I had at the club last night (I was a dancing queen). Who knew tonic water was essentially a soft drink!!! Obviously not this gal right here. But the good thing is that it didn't derail me and I'm okay with having drunk it. PS- It was delicious, I just KNEW it wasn't Paleo the moment I tasted it. hahaha 2- I did 9 solid reps today during my first set. How freakin great is that?!?! I finished up that first set then my second one I was able to get 6 or 7 good ones before resting. Third set was 5/5. I'm making progress and, consider that this 28 day challenge is up on October 5th, I'm going to have to step up the training for this one. But I FEEL myself getting there. I pulled out the block to elevate my feet today... that's a start in the right direction. And, no, I haven't attempted feet elevated yet. 3- $500 in savings... check! See, my goals are just too boring and easy.
  3. Update time! 1. Day 18 is over... and I've eaten out for 3 times over the course of my last 4 meals. And I did it all 100% Paleo! Go me! Paleo eating is becoming more and more easy over time, and I'm confident that I've made changes to my eating habits that will carry past my 30 days. I did find one thing I just can't do: watch Top Chef Desserts. My sugar demon is still there, ready to pounce, and watching this show right now I'm on the brink of getting a Reese's Cup from my kitchen (yes, I have Reese's Cups in my apartment still; no, I haven't had any in 18 days). 2. I can do 7-8 good quality reps at once without a rest. It's coming along slowly, but steadily. Gotta keep pushing myself towards the end of my reps so I can complete them all with proper form. 3. Money- um, I've spent too much money recently. $500 in the bank at the end of the month is doable, and I'm going to sit down on Friday and see if I can make it happen. Does anyone know when the 28 day challenge ends?
  4. Check in time! 1. My Whole30 progress is going great! I love eating clean: it gives me more energy throughout the day, and I actually wake up in the morning ready to go. Day 15 is in the books, day 16 is approaching and I've already made egg muffins for the morning... dinner will be leftover chicken made in the crockpot. Biggest thing for me about Whole30 is actually regaining my taste buds, which happened fairly quickly but has just gotten even better. Things taste SO good now. Things I used to NEVER touch, like cucumbers- YUCK! But now I realize they aren't that bad. Score! 2. Nowhere near feet elevated yet. I can do 5 solid reps before I breakdown and have to rest a bit, which I think is decent progress. And that's the first 5 reps of each set, so go me! 3. I found a moonlighting gig for an eye doctor who will be going on maternity leave! Yay! Added bonus- she's going to pay for my malpractice insurance. So........ goal #3: CHECK!! Should I make another goal or should I just now worry about the first 2? Okay, I got another one to replace #3: 3. Put $500 in savings this month (much harder to do than it seems on a resident's salary).
  5. My goals: 1. Complete the Whole30 Challenge. Day 10 down the drain, 20 more days! 2. Complete 3 sets of 10 incline rows with feet elevated. 3. Sign up for malpractice insurance and find a moonlighting job (technically 2, but the first part is as simple as filling out a form). I'll be checking back in biweekly on Sundays and Wednesdays with my progress. That t-shirt is MINE!! Mwahahaha!
