  1. Hey welcome to Detroit! (Or just outside it.) It's about to get beautiful around these parts. Congrats on the water thing too! I feel your pain with the MFP thing. I tried it, I suck at it. I've gone more paleo as of recent and just been trying to be more conscious of what I'm putting in my mouth hole. I wish you the best! Oh!! There is an awesome hiking spot in Farmington Hills. You and your significant should go, it's amazing. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  2. Okey dokie! So I've cleaned my garage out from top to bottom. A huge project that took two weekends. The punching bag and pullup bars will be going in this weekend after I pick up some 2x6 to add support. Mini#1 complete....halfway. The bad news....I tore something in my thumb and now have no movement in it without pain. I'm terrified of pills but on the verge of taking some asprin for it, which may sound like no big deal but for me it's a very very rare thing. I'm pretty sure I tore something while carrying a ladder at work but can't be 100%. Regardless, it sucks. As for my goals: My buddy is starting up his DnD game and I'm getting on board. Im about 80% done with my "print and play" table top Skirmish game rules, so that's part of the writing thing as I have been building little backgrounds on the factions I've created. The room cleaning thing has also been a huge success. Between my wife and I the house is looking good. We've redone the living room so it's less focused on the TV and more about conversation, the clothing is all put away, the kitchen is good....with 2 kids it's hard to keep that room better than good. This weekend is basement cleaning. After that's done all we have to do is light cleaning on Sundays to keep it up. These things all help me keep my mind so much more.....clean! As for the other goals. My diet has gotten so much better. Due to my work hours (12-9) I only eat between 12-8, so the intermittent fasting came with everything unexpectedly. I havnt been packing a lunch every day. However, the days that I have not I have been getting salads or fish (not deep fried). So even when I do buy a lunch I'm trying to stay on the healthy side. My first meal prep will be Sunday. After reading a post on here about a quick meal plan I've decided to try it for work and go back to snacking on a homemade trail mix I used to make. Coconut slices, raisins, sunflower seeds, walnut slivers. I tried tracking everything I eat and just keep letting it slide so I am going to go back to the paleo style. No more monsters!!!! I did have a lemonade today so shame on me. Other than that I have been drinking only water and two cups coffee a day. Lastly, fitness. Couch to 5k...nope I suck. Planning on starting tomorrow morning though. I'll post back here with my failure or success. Bodyweight...I was doing basic bodyweight workouts on my lunch breaks but that isn't working well, my lunch is just too short to fit everything in. I'm currently rethinking how I will do this. It's either going to be before work, or after. I prefer before but my sleep schedule needs tweaking first and foremost. 10000 steps.....nailed it. Only time I havnt gotten my 10k is on the weekends. Sooooooooo through this all I have one constant and that is to fix my sleep schedule. I'll be backing up my alarm by 30 minutes every 3 days until I am back to waking up at 630. It'll take a little bit but after I get back on track with sleep I will be much better equipped to do the fitness aspects. So yeah, there's my long post after a long moment of silence. I feel good about my diet, my lifestyle, not so much about movement. I'm making good progress in the first two. I'm noticing the difference after fixing my food and liquid intake so that's a happy thing. As I said, I'll post back here tomorrow with my results of getting up and starting C25k. 3. Goodness! I don't know if it's too late or not to reply in this thread, but I'm doing it! So far it's been good. I've gotten back into drinking only water and coffee, I only stopped for lunch twice so far..the rest was all packed. I just pulled the trigger on a punching bag and pullup bar, two things I've always wanted. So yup. So far it's great Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  4. So I've been here before. The first time I made good progress. Within 4 weeks I went from 20 pushups back to 80 and lost about 5/10 pounds, so I know that it works if I stick with it. The first time I quit was because of myself. If I wanted to blame something I would say I quit because I went crazy. Literally. I ended up checking myself into a hospital for a few days, even while I was in I was still following the program though; when I got out I stopped. The second time I was recovering from some drama with a girl that I thought was better than life. I had changed everything in my life (college major, job, got back with my wife....alot of things that I mucked up while crazy). Regardless, the fault was still mine. So now I am back! Sitting in the work truck yesterday I looked down at my stomach and thought "Damn bruh! You used to be so fit....now you're quickly dying." It was one of those simple moments where you just realize it and you decide its time to fix it. My food choice is......dookie. I work for a cable company so I eat alot of fast food, which sucks. Anyhow, I have decided to start as if this was my first challenge. I've been away for quite some time so a refresher is always a solid idea. Goals!!!! Diet: 1) Quit drinking monster. I was drinking only water for two years and then I got this job and picked up my old monster habbit. Time to cut it out and stick with water and coffee. 2)Pack a freaking lunch from now on. You ever wonder what the typical cable guy diet consists of? Heres a break down: Chips, fastfood, fastfood, fastfood, candy bar. 3)Track everything I eat This is just to get in the habit. Once this is set I can begin to tweak what I eat. Fitness: 1) Beginner body weight 3 times a week. I am a firm believer that body weight is the best way to work out. I am not saying anyone elses way is stupid or doesn't work. For me, with my military background, I trust body weight.....and its dirt cheap. 2)Couch to 5k once a week. I would like to run more but due to a previous knee injury I need to build my knee back up before I start going ham. 3) 10000 steps a day. This damn fitbit. I get pissed when I dont hit my goal. I usually fall short by about 1000. Life: 1) Get back into pen and paper RPGS. I miss my games, my escape from the real world. 2) Get back into writing. Same as above. 3) Clean one room twice a week. My hours are bullshit but I need to clean up in order to feel better and less stressed. I used to grade myself in a way that I would start at 100% and lose points as I didn't do something. This time I am going to try something different. Each item is worth a point value and when I have done it I get those points. At this point I am running out of time before work so I will have to figure out points or a different grading system over lunch today. Apps I use to help my lazy ass do things. Fitbit MyFitnessPal FitRPG (new so I dunno how it'll work yet.)
  5. In addition! Week one challenge has been added to my life. My meditation is painting. I've gotten back into that and have started doing it before bed for a half hour. Extremely helpful. Week 2 challenge is done as well! I scheduled all the doctors appointments I needed. 8 appointments in the next week, 4 of which are with specialist. I've begun to open a new case with the VA also....a major leap of faith if anyone here knows about that process and what's at stake. Week three: doing it already. When I do bodyweight workouts I start and end with 25+ jumping jacks. They are by far my favorite. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  6. Just a quick update here. I've been getting better about my diet. I end up eating alot of boiled eggs and Tuna...sometimes kippers or oysters. Green stuff is back to being my friend as well! I have been slacking on the bodyweight workouts but I do still walk everyother day. While I would definitely score myself below 65 I think I've made good progress so far in the way of getting back on track. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  7. Ok so here we are....the day after GenCon. I did amazing with ONLY water while at the event. I am in "recovery" from Alcohol so I didn't have a problem not drinking. When I say amazing I mean 100% water. I'm really proud of that. As for my walking goal.....I think I walked about 16 miles in the 4 day span of the con. My body hurts today...the famous Con hangover. The other two goals were a fail. I did zero bodyweight workouts and I ate alot of junk. Though I did have only fish for lunch all 4 days. Today is a rest day as I'm still recovering. After today its back to the game. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  8. Getting ready to head to the Con but I wanted to update this before I do so. Food choices have been the hardest so far. In fact, that's the only place I have lost points at. Right now my score is at 91. I've lost a total of 9 points because I've messed around eating stuff I shouldn't be. I'm slowly getting closer to that 630 mark. I just need to actually go to bed before 1am. My bodyweight workout was yesterday and I wasn't too happy but I know it'll improve. 20 push ups is nowhere near where I was two months ago when I was working out on a regular basis. I'm just hoping my body can bounce back quickly like usual. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  9. Breakfast-coffee I think. Lunch- Oysters... Alot of them Dinner- Carrots, roast Coffee and water only. I am taking 6 points away from yesterday because I ate poorly....twice.. Today's workout was "ok". 20 pushups 100 jumping jacks 20 lunges 20 second body line drill each side and plank. Not great but its a start. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  10. Still adjusting to the new food choices thing again. Feeling a bit weak and famished but I've played this game before and know the drill. My body will adjust soon enough and it won't be a problem. So far I'm doing well! Water and coffee only. Got a bit of basic workouts done...walked, cut the grass, about to go on a short run with a friend in a bit here. Food....damn you food. Breakfast: 2 eggs, a bunch of bacon. Lunch: Tuna with almond slivers, lettuce, tomatoes. Dinner....still working on that. I've also decided to go back to the fasting plan I had before. Eating only between the hours of 9-6, not including morning coffee. This was easy enough to follow before so I'm hoping for the same results. I'm not going to assign it a point value though as I can't overload myself with too much. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  11. I'm shooting to cosplay as Havok from full metal....or Handsome jack. Not sure yet. Also...when you say OU you aren't talking about OU in Michigan are you?? Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  12. I agree with the bedtime thing. I keep meaning to sleep at 11 and the next thing I know its 2am. Damn these electronics! Following and I wish you the best! Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  13. While I can't relate to YOUR depression, I can relate to depression. I had started my challenge in a manic state and when I crashed it crashed hard. It takes alot to get up from any type of depression and not let it consume you. So massive props for that! I hope good things for you! Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  14. As do you playa [emoji14] but I'll be getting at you tomorrow Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  15. My buddy! I was wondering if you were still around lol. I was worried about ya. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  16. Holy crap! To start...I have found a love for kippers. Today begins the day were I go head on to my challenges. At this point I feel pretty good. I went for a walk and did about a half mile run. I'll walk again before bed. As for fluid intake I've been spot on with just water and my morning coffee. I did have a slice of leftover pizza today...I'm a horrible person. The food part will get easier as the week goes though. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  17. Yay Wolf! I'm glad you kept going. This makes me happy inside. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  18. Food intake is the only thing I slack on still. I don't know why I find it so hard to simply remove starches, sugar, and processed stuff but damn it is. Regardless, I've been doing pretty good getting ready for the challenge but I'm about to take a break and get ready for GenCon. I'll be damned if some random injury messes with that trip. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  19. Thanks! I follow the nerd fitness one until I'm at a place to add more things to it. I have been doing the walk/run thing a good amount but I'm going to take it easy for the next few days. Heading to GenCon and I can't be having my legs all fucked up during that. After the con its go time. Edit: Holy crap! I didn't realize the challenge started tomorrow. Nevermind, I'll be full fledged as of tomorrow morning regardless of the con.
  20. Durp...forgot to update in lieu of the up coming challenge. ----wall of text regarding my points system----- My points system is getting an overhaul. Every challenge I begin with a 100 points. Every time I do not complete a goal for the day I will lose points. A fail will be anything below 60 in my book. This challenge points system will be as follows. Walking-3 points Workout-3 points Water-1 point Wake up. (This goal is only applied at the end of the challenge) -20 points. Basically this only allows me 1 week of constant fuckups. However, just because I fall below 60 does not mean I quit. Whatever number I end with will give me a number to beat the next challenge. If I end with 45 points then I need to at least get 50 next time. 60 is just a "goal" number. Why did I start this system? Because I believe that humans are fucking awesome...even though we are morons. I shouldn't have to work towards a grade I feel I should be losing points if I don't do what I plan to...not gaining them as I do what I want. We will see how it works. --------short wall of text regarding my main goal.--- My main goal is to lose 30lbs. For most of my life I weighed 185. Now I'm at 225/230. While 30 lbs doesn't seem like much to me its huge. I gained all that extra weight in 40 days a few years ago after being given a drug known as resperadol. Now most crazy pills make people gain weight this one destroyed me. I took it for only 45 days and in that time I went from 185-240. That last 30lbs is my goal because if I can beat what that drug did to my body then there is nothing stopping me. I've beaten the anxiety, the "cloudiness" and the stutter it gave me but now I need to work on what it did to me physically. The same song and dance as before. I will update this with my points FREQUENTLY. If you don't want notifications everyother day of my stuff I recommend you don't follow If you do, thanks! If not, no hard feels. 21. So I've been gone for about two challenges...maybe three. I was doing amazing on my first and halfway through my second but then a few things happened that just put me out of commission for a short little while. All the weight I had lost came right back, my anger skyrocketing again, my body hurting...all the same problems I started with and had begun to eliminate; I digress. It's gotten to the point currently where I feel I can get back into changing myself. That's not to say I havnt been. I've made massive strides in my mental health, which allows me to be here. So onto my goals. Main goal (v2): Lose 30 lbs This might seem easy/trival to some but the reasons behind it are massive to me. I won't go into it here but it'll be in my journal if interested (post listed today) ------Goals for this challenge Goal 1: Walk 3x a week at least 1.5 miles. Goal 2:Body weight workout 2x a week at least. Goal 3: Drink only water (and a cup of morning coffee). Not MIO water, not orange juice...just water. Thankfully this one should be the easiest for me. Goal 4: Begin to wake up at 630am. To me there is nothing more refreshing that being awake early and having that first cup of coffee. Sadly to get back to waking up at this time I'll need to bump back the time I'm waking up by 30 minutes every other morning or so. So there it is. A quick and simple 4 goals. These are very similar to the goals I started with and I have fallen so off track that I'm using this challenge to get back to where I left off. Here's to getting better everyday! 22. Well the last few days have been so busy that today I took it upon myself to recover and sleep in way later than I should. The weekend was good all things considered. Saturday I went to the zoo and walked a few miles and Sunday I drove about 4 hours south to a wedding that an old Army friend had. Food choices aside it went well as there was a park with a few trails I walked. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  23. Note to self....buy a new bike. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
  24. Ermagawd today! So I woke up at six....which was great! However, I didn't fall asleep until 230 and we had a pretty significant storm around 3/4 that woke me up for a bit so the whole sleep thing was kinda a wash. I'm getting ready to go on a mile or two bike ride....I havnt seen my bike in over a year so I figure it's a good time to bust out the old bastard and do some maintaince. After that I will MAYBE knock out a beginner workout....we will see how I feel after the bike endeavor. My mood for the day is pretty good! Still trying to decide if I'm going to go back to taking meds at night, as I'm not sure if my meds are making me tired or not....I will give it another 4 days to see. Meals Breakfast-skipped Coffee Lunch- Tuna again (how I love thee Tuna) with an egg. Dinner will be some porkchops and green beans I think. Though I despise porkchops they need to get gone from my fridge. Sent from my LG-H811 using Tapatalk
