  1. What are you doing on your "lifting days"?
  2. I am sure there is some thread out there about this, but I can't seem to find it. I'm traveling this week and will be in a hotel most of the time. Trying to gain some good weight. Will be able to hit the gym at least 3 x this week, but curious if folks had ideas on getting good paleo snacks for the hotel rocked and ready to go? Thanks!
  3. Any advice on cleaning and storing?
  4. Ok. Here is a toughie. In trying to gain muscle, but during travel and in hotels mostly. Have access to car for groceries. Any advice on what to pack?
  5. Thanks! This does help. I do a lot of red meat, salmon, avacado, nuts, olive oil, but didn't describe it in such great detail in my information above.
  6. This is a great thread. Thank you both. To answer your question about the nuts: I eat the stuff out of the jar, but it is raw unsalted. If I ever treat myself with peanut butter (I like almond butter, myself), I go unsalted, raw as well. All from Trader Joes. For Jerky, I go with Krave, which has 290 mg sodium (12%) per 1 ounce. I'll probably steer away from it when I finish this pack. How would you recommend getting more protein in my diet that has less sodium in it? In addition, what are some good protein laden snacks that are paleo?
  7. And how does one "[j]ust gain some muscle" other than what I'm doing? Haha.
  8. Trying to gain muscle. I understand that it is just part of the beast, but it looks "distended" (i.e., protruded like a "gut"). I can remove dairy, but what would you suggest to modify in my diet to add more protein? I eat jerky, lots of egg white protein, egg whites, eggs. . . . lots and lots of veggies. Anything you would change about my workout?
  9. What if you are trying to gain weight Loren? I am pretty thin and would like to be up to 180-190. If I cut out dairy, nuts, sweet potatoes (which I believe are paleo, correct?), I lose a lot of calories.
  10. GET OUT OF MY HEAD LOREN. Haha. Ok, open to ANY suggestions: What are you eating? Preworkout: Egg protein Breakfast: 1 cup of egg whites; 2 eggs; veggies; sweet potato. Snack: Egg protein, 1/2 cup nf milk Lunch: Big salad, two servings of protein (e.g., two chicken breasts, two cans of tuna, sausage, etc.) Snack: Veggies and almond butter, jerky Dinner: Fish, roasted veggies, salad Pre-Sleep: Greek yogurt, serving of fruit I realize this isn't full paleo, but its "close"? How much are you eating? See above. How's your sleep? 7-8 hours a night What's your workout routine like? 3-4 days a week, generally full body workouts, 40 minutes to an hour, 20 - 30 minutes of intervals per week. Big muscle lifts each time I work out on a rotation: bench, deadlift, squat.
  11. Hey folks. Currently 165 lbs, 6'4" trying to build a lot of good muscle and strength. On paleo, and have been noticing that while I am not gaining muscle on the diet, I have a protruded stomach or what I have heard called "the pouch." Any advice on plans or reasons why this might happenin'? Shanks.
  12. Anyone got any good recipes for using the cast iron skillet ala Paleo?
  13. Diet is not heavy of dairy at all. I drink 1/2 a cup of nonfat milk a day, at most. Sugars only come from 1-1.5 servings of fruit a day and the occassional alcoholic beverage. I am sleeping 6.5-7 hours a night, 8 on good nights. Is there any reason that it could be stress related? Adam
  14. Hey folks. So I have been paleo/primal here for a couple of weeks now. Something I have noticed is that I have seen more weight gain (which is good, I am trying to gain weight), but mostly in my belly. I have read some brief things about the cortisol "pouch," paleo, stress, etc. and was curious if anyone had any thoughts or resources about this. Blessings.
  15. Sorry about that Loren. Have you tried buying a whole coconut and using that for shakes? I never had, but have heard it recommended. What kind of cocoa powder do you use?
