  1. Hey Bean, so it looks like neither you nor I are trying out your suggestion to Butternut of 'not committing to goals' Well it looks like you're all set and have again a long list of things to do. I myself still have to assemble my list of things to do, but I still have a few days to do that. By the way, are you counting those points to compare between challenges, or is there some personal score you want to achieve?
  2. Don't worry, zeroh, should you get lost again, we will quickly assemble a search party again. But its good that you still participate and that you try to keep it simple in order to keep some momentum going. Good luck with your new job by the way.
  3. A) strength: Hard to say, currently it's one of those - my unwavering lifted spirit and humor even in the face of failure and imminent doom (and not exclusively other peoples failure and imminent doom...) - my understanding nature that gives me the ability to negotiate with witches, orcs and personal trainers alike - cooking all kinds of delicious and nutritious meals with all kinds of ingredients that look and taste surprisingly similar. At max level it could be one of those: - in case the adventuring party is caught by the minions of a hostile overlord, I'd win the push-up duel against their champion thus forcing them to release us according to overlord-minion-push-up-duel regulations (in case of a tie, I'd win by additional pull-ups) - In case the party is attacked by a swarm of poisonous mosquitos I could knock them (the mosquitos) all out out with a barrage of light but very fast punches - cooking all kinds of delicious and nutritious meals with all kinds of ingredients that look and taste intentioally different. B ) the list, yes... there was one... wait... 1. My weight will be below 88 kg... yes, has been below 88 for nearly a month now, try to keep it stable below 87 for a week now 2. I will be able to do 10 pull-ups... until now I can do 0 without assistance, but there is progress since I use less resistance bands than before for support 3. I will be able to do 50 push-ups...just tried it and can do 17 clean ones (fail on 18) In order to do so I planned to do the following: - Log the food intake... I do that for about 3 months now - Will have an intermittent fasting day on Mondays... Skipped that, since I used to train in the morning and needed food afterwards, but I can pick that up again - Will do and finish the Body Beast Workout Program... Did it every day for the first 7 weeks... then took a one week break... now did week 8 and 9 of the program for the last 4-5 weeks... still ongoing - adjust my meal plans accordingly... did that. On workout days I take care that I eat enough protein and don't mind the carbs to fill up my energy. On lazy days I eat less, since I need less. C ) Compare - Push-up goals from B fully match my max. level push-up dueling skill from A. There is a story here. Last year in August I made a bet with a friend that we both have to do 50 push-ups same time this year. She's way ahead with her rep numbers, and with my 17 reps I still have to put a lot of work into it, but I still can do it. - My cooking skills from A are useful for adjusting my meal plans in B - The Body Beast workout improves my overall strength although I want to have more focus on the whole pull-up / push-up thingy. But I started it and I want finish although it lost importance to me.
  4. Yes, exactly. I realised that regarding physical exercise I am already at a point where I can be very content with myself for the time being. So after closing and evaluating the results of this challenge I started to create the new challenge. This time I try a more balanced approach. Hope to see all of you there!
  5. Main Quest Finding the balance in mind and body Story: As Iceburner travels on the forest suddenly opens up and he beholds a wonderful scenic landscape. The perfect place to stay and find the balance in mind and body. Background: My previous challenge didn't work out so well. Maybe I had too many goals concerning physical fitness that interfered with other physical activities I wanted to do or needed to do. Overall my goals worked against the balanced lifestyle, I actually strive for. So this challenge is all about balance. Loot: There are some music LPs I wanted to order and I didn't since I wanted to earn them in my previous challenge. But since I couldn't finish with an overall rating of B, I will again put this loot on the table. This time I just have finish the challenge. Extra loot will be assigned for the specific subquests. Subquest 1 - Body Balance Goal: Balance out my physical activites and collect body points Background: Instead of focusing on a certain type of training, workout or physical activity. I assign points to all of them and sum them up during the challenge. The more time or energy consuming they are, the higher the points. Also I take into account how much effort it is for me to start a certain activity. Here are examples for often reoccuring activities: - 7 minutes balance board workout +1 - 7 minutes of Wing Chun forms and / or basic exercises +1 - short push-up / pull-up workout: +2 or +4 +2: just 4 sets of 8-12 reps +4: there's an additional warm-up and 20-30 seconds HI cardio in between the sets - 20-25 minutes of riding the bike (e.g. to or back from work) +2 or +3 +2: default +3: ridding in bad weather (e.g. rain) - Body Beast workout +5 - Wing Chun training +7 Example for a good week +14 for 2x Wing Chung training +5 for 1x Body Beast workout +4 for 1x riding the bike to work and back +4 for 2x push-up workout +2 for 2x balance board workout +1 for 1x Wing Chun forms and basic exercises ---- +30 body points Ratings: A - min. of 30 points per week OR 140 body points in total B - min. of 25 points per week OR 115 body points in total C - min. of 18 points per week OR 88 body points in total D - min. of 10 points per week OR 60 body points in total Attributes: +5 distributed on physical attributes depending on things done Loot: Based on the rating something to relax the muscles, e.g. day at the spa, massage... Subquest 2 - Mental Balance Goal: Clear your mind and get rid of unnessecary surfing in the internet, mind numbing mobile gaming and distracting netflix binge watching, instead enrich your knowledge and skills and read books, do online courses, do some programming, gardening, tinkering etc. and collect mental points Background: I waste too much time with certain 'wasteful' activites and do to little when it comes to 'enriching' mental activities. So here are my rules for this challenge: - I will allow myself 60 minutes day of NETFLIX series or watching the news. That's 420 minutes per week. - Every minute above that will count to a minute of 'wasteful' tasks - starting the challenge at 0 mental points, every 'wasteful' minute will count as negative point, every 'enriching' minute counts as plus point - I will time spend in the NF forum as positive points except when it's done during times, where I should do some important tasks - Not using my mobile at all (for surfing or similar) at the usual places (waiting somewhere, bathroom) actually counts towards positive body points. Ratings: A, B, C, D but not attached to certain point range, since estimating the outcome is hard and I have to experiment with this system first Attributes: +5 distributed on mental attributes depending on things done Loot: Depending on what 'enriching' mental activity had the most impact: a new book, course, material for certain activity Subquest 3 - Life Balance Goal: Stop procrastinating and get things done! Background: The number of tasks on my ToDo list grows faster than I can check things off. I'm a master procrastinator. Stop it and just do the list of tasks! Afterwards I will feel relieved and my life will be more balanced. Here's a list of things to do (masked the actual tasks by related category) List: housework housework IT task IT task IT task administrative task housework administrative task financial task financial task health and fitness task administrative task financial task administrative task administrative task housework administrative task administrative task administrative task financial task financial task housework housework financial task financial task health and fitness task financial task IT task housework housework IT task IT task IT task financial task financial task fitness and health task IT task IT task IT task housework administrative task IT task task in the house task in the house administrative task fitness and health task Ratings: A, B, C, D but not attached to certain amount of tasks, but effort and time needed to start and execute tasks Attributes: +5 distributed on any kind of attributes depending on things done Loot: Put aside money for a new graphics card depending on what you do (TODO: assign money to tasks)
  6. Previously on the Iceburner Battle Log: ... Adiposis, the Obesity Oger, offspring of Sloth, god of the lazy, and Gluttony, goddess of the ravenous had been about to destroy this hero's happy life. But after having started to fight back, Iceburner was able to achive many victories with the help of the NF Rebellion. For a while everything was peaceful again... ...until one of many Adiposis minions, the Belly Beast, attacked him viciously. This resulted in a long and hard struggle that felt like weeks. In the end Iceburner could best him and decided to tame the Belly Beast and continue to train it as a companion to help in his fight. He joined also joined the Rebels Guild and participated in their Rebel Boot Camp where he managed to become an Elite Cadet. Together with them he went out on Field Training and his first mission for The Rebel Guild which they successfully finished together. A few days later as he was on his way back to the Rebels Guild Camp a came along a small hut. There he met the Old Master that took him in as student for 4 weeks to teach and train him. Unfortunately things went sideways and training didn't progress as planned. Additionaly a time travel accident teleported him back to the Dino Age where he tried to survive with the other Rebels until they finally managed to find a way back. His master, neither happy with his progress nor his (well explained) absence told him that he 'was not ready yet' and had to leave. So Iceburner left and continued to travel the path that would undoubtly lead him to another adventure... to be continued...
  7. This is a good idea actually. I might just do that and then setting the goal to improve the challenge afterwards...
  8. So I finished my challenge with questionable success. Here is what happened: Epilogue *Zing* *whuawhauwhuaWHUA* *whoooOOOOOoooosh* ...and Iceburner lies flat on his back. For a few minutes he just lies there, breathing heavily. 'Damn time travelling,' he thinks. 'At least I survived the Dino Age with the other rebels.' He pulls himself up with a groan and dusts himself off. 'I wonder if I made it back to my own time?' Will still patting himself to see if he is still in one piece, he stares at a small hut that looks pretty familiar as suddenly... *BAAM* A hard slap from behind sends him flying and as he finally hits the ground he hears a women screaming at him from behind: 'So first you disappear on your master and now you dare to trample all over his vegetable garden?' Iceburner looks up in surprise, then sees a middle aged women standing above him with her hands on her hips. 'What? I... no... I mean... ,' Iceburner stammers as he's looking from the women to the swath of destruction his arrival must have left. 'Sorry..., err, who are you?' 'I'm Ruth, the master's housekeeper, which you would know, if you wouldn't have just disappeared. Really boy, the master is very disappointed!' Boy? ,Iceburner thinks, She cannot be that much older than me. And how does she know me though we never met? These and more thoughts race through Iceburners head, but he decides to keep them to himself and instead sighs and asks: 'Where is the master?' 'Right behind you!', says Ruth and points at the entrance of the hut. Iceburner turns around. The master doesn't seem to be happy. Although still not sure how he possibly can explain his time travel adventure Iceburner nonetheless tries. The old man seems to accept the story as explanation for Iceburners disappearance, but not as excuse for his lack of training. 'I am disappointed in you, go!', he says, turns around and steps into his hut. Over the next days Iceburner tries to make amends by fixing his garden, but the master is adamant: 'Maybe I was wrong and it is too early for you to learn what I have to teach you! Go and do not come back until you're ready!' So Iceburner leaves the masters' hut behind, and while he's happy to get away from this horrendous housekeeper, it feels like a missed opportunity...

And no loot to boot... Level UP! I use this system: https://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/33333-archive-outdated-creating-your-character/ Subquest 1: Stay Beasty w.1: Rating: A , 4 workouts w.2: Rating: C , 1 workout (do not count, since sick) w.3: Rating: B, 2 workouts w.4: Rating: A , 3 workouts overall rating: C! - since I have just 2 workouts in week 3 and the number of total workouts is just 9 workouts in total (average of 3/w) Attribute calculation: 50% (STR: +2 STA: +2) = STR: +1 STA: +1 Subquest 2: Keep the balance w.1 Rating: A w.2: Rating: D, 4 workout (do not count, since sick) w.3: Rating: C, 2 workouts (instead of 7 calculate a 4 workouts for 100%, because of knee) w.4: Rating: F , 3 workouts overall rating D! - difficult to calculate: not even 6 workouts in the last 2 weeks is super weak which deserves an F, surprisingly the week where I got sick was the best one, so and I did my part in week 1, so it cannot be better than D, but may also not deserve worse. Attribute calculation: 25% (DEX: +4) = DEX: +1 Subquest 3: Push and Pull w.1 Rating: A w.2: Rating: C , 2 workout (do not count, since sick) w.3: Rating: B, 3 workouts w.4: Rating: C , 2 workouts overall rating C! - again, difficult to calculate. According to the goal definition post 5 workouts in 2 weeks would barely be a D, but again week 2 was not to bad for being sick, week 3 had the knee injury in it, and the A from week 1 has to count for something as well. Attribute calculation: 50% (STR: +3 STA: +1) = STR: +1.5 STA: +0.5 Subquest 4: Support your fellow Rebels w. 1 Rating: A w. 2 Rating: A w. 3 Rating: A w. 4 Rating: A overall A - at least here things went as expected. 11. How cute! Since @Bean Sidhe and @Inazea covered the most ground in search for @zeroh13 I suggest those two are the ones who name our baby dino. Maybe one of you suggests several names and the other one picks one of those. By the way, what kind of dino do we have? Is it a baby T-Rex?
  12. Woah, sounds like a really tough day. So kudos to you for surviving that and still get things done. Hope your youngest agent is doing fine.
  13. Nice, you did more running and more piano practice, and still played a lot of Fallout (additionally to the other 100% achieved goals)? Respect
  14. Well, the burgers look delicious, so probably I will try to make at least one of them.
  15. Thanks Bean, you're probably right and I'm doing not too bad I guess I'm just a bit disappointed after I did so extremely good in my previousl challenge and do not in my current one, even though I dialed it down a notch. But things happened as they happened, no need to fret about it. I just continue and try to do what I can do. What I did so far this week: Monday: Don't remember, didn't note down anything, so probably didn't do anything. Just had a nice evening with my wife on the couch watching some series. Tuesday: Used the balance board and did a workout in the morning. Went to Wing Chun training in the evening. Wednesday: Doctora appointment in the morning and a looooooooong working day. Therefore nothing concerning training Tuesday: Balance Board, Cardio Workout, biked to work and back, Wing Chun training. What a day. I even stayed in a caloric deficit, even though I ate a lot of Chocolate and Pizza. Friday: (Today): Biked to work. and here I am
  16. I'm happy to report that my knee is doing much better. I can walk without pain and also do balance exercises. Just jumping is still painful, so I postpone the cardio workout as well as the legs workout, since both have jumping in it. Also a legs workout can still put too much strain on it, better be careful here. So additionaly here is the Summary week 3: Subquest 1: Stay Beasty Planned: 3 workouts Done: 2 workout Rating: B Comment: Maybe I can manage one more this evening and edit this entry later - Tu: Back Subquest 2: Keep the balance Planned: do short workout every morning (7 times) Done: 2 out of 4 times Rating: C Comment: Knee pain is not the only reason I did so bad this week. 17. just to wrap this up... Epilog: The highly inofficial Search and Rescue Operation For 2 days the search for Zeroh goes on without any sign of the Guild Leader. @Inazea and @Bean Sidhe seem to especially worried, since they cover more ground than any other rebel in that time. But when coming back to camp on the dusk of the second day, guess who sits by the fire: @zeroh13 !!! Great is the joy of the Rebels and they surround Zeroh immediately firing questions at him: 'Where've you been?', 'Are you OK?', 'Did a dinosaur eat you?'... While Zeroh is happy to be back he is a bit embarrassed as he has to admit that he just lost track of time while exploring and foraging. After hearing what has happened in the camp in the meantime he quickly comes up with a new plan: "PET DINO" & "FIX THIS MESS" This end the search mission. Please don't add any more numbers to the sheet: finding zeroh13
  18. Thanks,, you're right. Substitution is the way to go here...
  19. Hey, Schaengel. Hope you could recover over the Easter holidays? ...
  20. You're doing so well!, I'm happy for you. And don't mind the running. Running is for people who... err... run... Ok, I couldn't come up with a good ending here... I'm eager to hear about week 3.
  21. Hi, hope you're doing better and your fever is gone again. I'm happy to hear that you're doing good on your diet and fitness goals nonetheless, despite the work stress. You will make it through the last 1 1/2 weeks left, I'm sure. Try to stay sane
  22. Yea! Spring is back! Nice, warm(er) sunny days give me some extra motivation to move as well Let's go with the flow and try to keep the momentum even if there should be some rainy day in between. But it looks like you're doing that already. Just came by to say: I noticed and good work!
