  1. I...think I posted this in the wrong forum! Haha. I meant for that to be my overall goals, not the SMART goals for the specific upcoming challenge. My challenge goals will be: Main quest: Form healthy and flexible (but firmly established) patterns of living that I can maintain even while I have twin newborns in the house and I am exhausted and my wife is exhausted and everyone is frustrated. Goal 1: Follow my exercise routine each week. That will be more specific by the time the challenge starts... I have a few days yet! A – 5/5 weekly workouts B - 4/5 weekly workouts C – 3/5 weekly workouts D – 1/5 weekly workouts F – 0 – 1/weekly workouts Goal 2: Try two new recipes per week, with the following criteria: It has to be as healthy as what I normally eat, but it should either be faster to prepare, or make larger quantities that last longer. By the end of the challenge, the plan is to have a shorter food prep time but still be maintaining a healthy nutritious diet! A - Tried at least 10 new recipes B - At least 8 new recipes C - At least 5 new recipes D - At least 3 new recipes F - Fewer than 3 new recipes Goal 3: Do "baby prep" things. A – Spent at least 30 minutes a day (average) doing "baby prep" things. B - 20 min/day C – 10 min/day D – 5 min/day F – <5 min/day Goal 4: Spend at least an hour a week drawing or painting. Find some time for myself in this crazy nonsense! A - 10 minutes a day or more (average) B - 8 minutes or more C - 5 min or more D - I did something! F - I did nothing. I know that is too many goals. That is what expecting a child does to a person. But I think they are achievable, and I'm holding myself back here. My instinct is to go for WAY more than that. Motivation: I want to be a good dad!
  2. Hi everyone! My human wife is expecting. Expecting what? Identical twins! How does that happen? The only thing I can think of is that I have some fairy blood, and the Fey side is expressing itself. Obviously! Anyway, that means it's time to: 1) Prepare for having a child. This is my first, so... How? What? huh? 2) Prepare for having another child. Simultaneously!!? And so, I set out on my journey, spear in hand, to baby-proof the apartment. Main quest: TWINS!? zOMG. Form healthy and flexible (but firmly established) patterns of living that I can maintain even while twins newborns are in the house and I am exhausted and my wife is exhausted and everyone is frustrated. Deadline: I've got like three months MAX to prepare. As an extra challenge, twins are likely to be premature (and underweight too!) so I probably have less time than that. IT'S GO TIME! Health goal #1: Establish exercise routines that (1) I do regularly and (2) which are baby safe and are (3) time-flexible and (4) fatigue- and frustration-friendly. Health goal #2: Alter my diet in ways that make food preparation faster and easier without increasing my weight or sacrificing nutrition. Losing weight is fine (I'm above my ideal), but my goal here is to prepare to maintain. Baby prep goals: Prepare for baybehs! #1: De-clutter my home like a madman, because more clutter is coming. #2: Learn! SO MUCH TO LEARN. #3: Do the things that people normally do later on, because I would rather do them now when there are not babies in the way. Like electrical safety precautions and stuff. #4: Etc!? AAAAAAAAAAAAAGH! #5: Freak out. #6: Breath. Okay, breath. It's okay. Other life goals: Make time for myself! Draw or paint regularly, and figure out a way to make that happen once the babies come.
