  1. oh, wow it's been awhile since my last update! i'm still plugging at my goals. last week was a bit of a struggle but i still managed to met all my goals for the week. i just had to give myself a firm talking to every day. I went away for a trip to my sisters for the weekend and it took a few days to recover from the time difference and flying. i think my second goal needs to be slightly updated to include spending time each day to complete a household task beyond keeping the kitchen clean. i have lots of paper that needs to be sorted through and either recycled, shredded or filed. i have two boxes that have been sitting in my loving room for months now and every day i say i'll do it tomorrow. only it never happens. i sat down on saturday and told myself i only had to spend five songs going through the papers. i ended up working my way through an entire box in under an hour with most of it being shredded. and on sunday i sat down and did a few minutes and made noticeable progress on the second box. i think that i really need to keep that momentum going. the cat was too agitated/annoyed with me to play much this weekend. my last dresser did not survive the move to my apt and i have been making do without one for awhile now. i finally saved enough to go out and buy a new one. on saturday i folded all my clothes in anticipation of my new dresser. previously everything had been hanging up. the poor cat spent the whole day pacing in front of my bed and wouldn't believe when i promised he wasn't going back to the cat sitter so soon. and then on sunday it took me the entire afternoon the assemble the dresser. but now all my clothes are neatly put away and my closet looks much nicer now. i can actually see things! once everything was all cleaned up he decided to stop fussing. he has laid claim to the box for the moment.
  2. on tuesdays i don't get home from work until well after i go to bed the rest of the week. i can always tell on wednesday mornings that i haven't slept as much as normal. in the past, wednesday is the day i start to falter when it comes to packing my lunch. this week was no different but i managed to talk myself into making lunch as i was getting ready. i tried playing with the cat when i got home. he was...not interested. i think maybe i should get a wider variety of toys. i fell asleep pretty soon after that so didn't get a workout in. i took today off of work and got a lot done! i went for a walk as soon as the sun was starting to come up. the trail was so nice and quiet. i followed up my walk with a short workout from darebee. i got all my errands done by noon. i had to take the cat to the catsitter this afternoon since i will be gone this weekend. he always looks so pitiful in his carrier. he wanted nothing to do with my once he was let out. i brought his feather toy over but he usually hides the whole time so most likely there will be no playing. ever since i moved the kitchen table i have found it really easy to keep the counter clean. doing the dishes immediately after a meal means i have to realize how few dishes i truly use. i have so many plates and bowls and coffee mugs but i use the same couple over and over again. i'm had thought to go through paper clutter first before hitting the kitchen but now i'm starting to think maybe i should do the kitchen first?

  4. I'm going to grad school in the fall and I plan on continuing to work full time as well. It's definitely going to be a test of my time managements skills. I, uh, have cookbooks. I just don't ever use them. If it has more than 5-8 ingredients and requires more than one pot or pan chances are I'm never going to make it.
  5. I was always there on work trips so I haven't done a whole lot of tourist type things. I loved Daegu and have spent the most time there. Seoul was nice but very busy and large (much larger than where I live(d)). In Seould though, it seemed like there was always some sort of festival type thing going on in the city center so that's always worth checking out if you're in the area. Most of my non work time was spent eating food tbh. There is so much good food to be had and not just Korean food. At the time I spoke enough Korean to feel comfortable going out by myself and never had any problems using public transit. Yay for getting to take your dog! I know I personally would hate to be separated from my cat for that long. It'll make your stay so much nicer to not have to worry about him.
  6. yes, mulching! idk why but mulching is one of the few yard work things i like to do.
  7. South Korea! I really enjoyed all the times I've visited! Where in the country are you trying to teach? I attempted to go teach at one point but it didn't end up happening for a variety of reasons but I definitely want to go back to visit again!
  8. good luck with the gre studying! i chose to go with finding a program that didn't require bc i straight up didn't want to take it. what will be studying in grad school? where are you getting your creative meal ideas from? i'm the most boring cook ever so welcome all ideas!
  9. week 1 went really well. i got my two weeekday walks plus weekend walk, didn't have to throw out any food and attempted to play with the cat everyday. i noticed yesterday that he is starting to lose his small old man belly so that's a plus. my parents visit threw my normal grocery shopping routine for a loop. i didn't make it to the store until monday after work. i always have oatmeal in the house so had that for breakfast but had to buy lunch at the office cafeteria. i still have money in the eating out fund since last week i didn't touch it so moneywise it was fine but i was still annoyed. on sunday i did day 7 of 30 days of change and walk before i left to meet up with the family. monday morning i did the sun salutation video from the 30day doyouyoga challenge before work. i didn't work out in the afternoon since it was raining and day 8 called for sprints. i know i could have switched teh days around but was feeling lazy and had house cleaning to do that i neglected while my parents were here. this morning i woke up naturally around 4:30 which is 25 minutes earlier than the alarm is set. instead of staying in bed i got up and did this workout to make up for not doing one yesterday. since today is a long work day i can't do anythign once i get home. i started off doing the push ups against the wall but they felt too easy so did them using the kitchen counter.
  10. It sounds like your frist week went really well! What projects are you planning for the boys this weekend?
  11. day 5 started the day off with sun salutations. since my parents are in town i took the day off of work. on thursday my mom said to head over to my sisters apt where they are staying anytime in the morning. i took this to mean slightly before lunch. my mom on the other hand was expecting me shortly after breakfast. day 6 of 30 days of change is a 20min walk and stretching. i went around the lake once and then came back and did the stretches in the program plus many others. played with the cat before leaving. went to lunch shortly after i arrived. afterwards helped my sister hang pictures and then headed out for the national mall. once there we visited on of the smithsonsians. my sister is not much of a museum person so we only went to the one before going back. we took the long way home. it was much hotter than forecasted and i was thirsty so it was not pleasant. got another walk when we went out to dinner. day 6 started the day off with sun salutations again. i did not workout today. my parents went out to a volunteer event at a local city orchard. we spent 3 hours laying mulch and weeding. i definitely felt like i did not drink enough water. afterwards my parents and i came back to my apt for lunch. we took a short outing to ikea to look at some things i wanted for the apt and wanted a 2nd opinion on. my sister joined us afterwards and we went to an early dinner. i tried to play with the cat but he is still grumpy at me for bringing people int the apt so play did not last long. he's currently sitting in the middle of the leaving room with his back to me with angry tail going strong.
  12. - started the day off with this video. - all meals went according to plan went according to plan - left work early so i could run some errands before seeing the parents. they flew in today and will be coming at some point to see my apt. i took a carload of stuff out the donation center. i still have another carload of stuff that needs to go. but still it was nice to see so much of it go away. i don't think i realized how stressed i was by having all it sitting here until it was gone. - played with the cat after dropping items off. even though it's only four days of regular play i can already tell a difference in his enthusiasm and jumping abilities. we played for approx 20 min today. he's starting to make some pretty high jumps that before i don't think he would have attempted. he's been a lot less whining this week. idk if that's directly related to the playing or not. - did day 5 of 30 days of change. i'm still on level one. i probably could have done one more round but decided three was enough. - went on a walk in late afternoon, did lake loop once
  13. Great looking challenge! I'm also doing the 30 Days of Change program. Nice to see someone else doing it as well!
  14. Day 2 & 3 Recap Sticking to the menu - 5/6 out of meals. I had a staff meeting at the pool tonight that ran much longer than I thought. I ended up munching on crackers and juice there. It's too close to bed time to cook a full dinner now Clear counters - have done my dishes after all meals. Waking up and coming home to a clean sink is really nice. I have a bag of recycling that I am going to take down with me in the morning. Walking - Tuesdays are long days since I work at the pool after a day the office and then tonight was teh staff meeting so no walking. But that's okay since I still have 2 more days to get my second week day walk in. Yesterday, I did part 2 of day3 for teh 30 Days of Change as well. On both days did day 5 of the 30 Day Challenge from doyouyoga. Playing w/ the cat - We have played ever day so far this week. Yesterday and today were a bit short time wise since I had to leave shortly after getting home.
  15. I like your checklist! I personally it very satisfying to check items off lists as completed. What type of outdoor projects are you working on with the kids?
