  1. @Lulu - apparently a third of women will have problem on the implanon, a third of women will have no period and the remaining third will have regular periods. I can't take the pill (the synthetic eastrogen (sp?) reacts with my body and may kill me - fun fun) and the mini pill sucks, and i always forgot to take it. I love my implanon. I get a period every 3 months (sometimes even longer between them), little to no cramps and no weight gain or acne. My best friend had a period for about 7-8 months before it stopped (very light, but was there everyday) and no rarely gets a period. I've been on it 4 years (obviously had it changed after 3), never been preggo. No pain on insertion or getting it replaced. Slightly tender the next day but not really. The idea of IUD has always creeped me out a little, might have to try it if I ever react to what im on now Also side note - my best friend tried about 5 different pills before going on the implanon, and turned into a crazy lady on all of them (and thats putting it nicely!!!)
  2. Hugs to everyone, especially oystergirl and LRB. I'm struggling with motivation - I was doing so well, then slowed down, and then stoppped. Yesterday was the first day in 3 weeks I went to the gym. And already today, I'm trying to find excuses. I just need to find some motivation that will last longer than 3 weeks :/
  3. The knees usually ok, and I can feel when its going to start hurting so I can stop what ever I'm doing. Leg presses will be added onto the workout tonight I'm not on supplements. Except iron tables. I was thinking about adding protien supplements, but not sure if I should. And the body builder places where you buy it intimadates me a little. But other than that, nope
  4. Thanks ebm1224 I was reading through the threads before I joined and it seemed like a really supportive community which is exactly what I need. My family and friends all keep telling me that I shouldn’t have joined a gym as I’m never going to use the membership, and that if I lift weights I’m going to get bulky, like a man. So it’s nice to have such a supportive community to help keep me on track! @Lachy - There are only two PT’s at the gym I go to and I meet with one a few weeks ago when I joined and he told me if I wanted a good body - lots of cardio, light weights, lots of reps and that girls don’t need to lift heavy weights. I was new to this but since reading a lots of workout information and blogs disagree with him and have been going onto heavier weights, less reps and less cardio but more intensive. The other PT is on holidays till next week then fully booked till after the 29th and I hear from other people at the gym that he teaches free weights and how to properly do heavy weights. So I’m waiting to get an appt with him. I totally didn’t think of leg presses!!! Going to have to add them into my next work out. Thanks!!
  5. Omg, I love this thread!!! Definitely buying bacon, and lots of it, next time I go shopping
  6. Thanks I don’t even think I can run 7km at the moment. I’m still having some trouble running long distances without hurting my knees so Im trying to rehabilitate them at the moment and get them stronger. So I only do short distance running and longer distances on the elliptical and bike, less pressure on the joints. I’m hoping as I get stronger, it won’t hurt to run and I have seen slight improvements. It might not be possible in 6 weeks, but I’m going to try. But I’m not going to hurt myself to do it I’m doing some free weights and some machines (yes bad I know) mostly focussing on my upper body strength (and some knee rehab) as thats the weakest part of me. I’m doing a little bit of ab work (like medicine ball twist) not focussing too much on that until I lower my body fat and get stronger overall (and I really hate crunches and stuff) I have a personal training session in 3 weeks or so, so I’m going to ask him to teach me how to do all the exercises on free weight, I’m a bit scared of using the wrong form and hurting myself now.
  7. Name - Ally Age - 21 Sex - Female Height - 175cm Weight - 63.5kg I've never had an issue with my weight. I've always been reasonably skinny and lose weight easily if I do gain it. But my fitness - horrible. After an active childhood, I had to give up netball at 14 due to severe knee injuries and since then nothing. No high school sport. No running. I started bootcamp 3 mornings a week at the start of the year for about 6 months, but of course work, uni and life got in the way and I gave up. I was still eating a bad diet anyway so I wasn't having the results I wanted. So now, 2 weeks ago I joined a gym. Ive been going almost everyday and discoved weight training. and I love it. So much I want to do it every day So now inspired on your 6 weeks challenges, I'm starting my own. Fitness Goals - 3 x 10 mans push up (currently at 3!!) - Run 7km in under 45minutes - 3 x 60 second planks (currently at 15seconds - pretty pathetic) Diet Goals - GIVE UP DIET COKE - I only have one a day and that needs to go - No gluten and dairy - allergic to both - yet still sometime eat them even though I know its bad for me Life Goal - Finish my to do list - Finish my thesis research Sorry this has been so long!!!
