  1. Does your store have a 'health food' section? Where they have 'bulk' items in canisters? We buy our nuts that way because we have lots of food allergies and the ones over there have less things we are allergic to (we being my mom and I lol just realized how odd that sounded) they tend to be cheaper over there. Are you going Paleo awsd00? because if not they usually have steel cut oats over there that are cheep too. And super good for you if you are eating grains and easy to cook (you can put water in a thermos over night and soak them)
  2. If you like Asian flavors try some teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar (optional) ginger, garlic, some onion powder if you like. soak in a ziplock baggie over night and cook. YUM! I cook this on my Forman Grill with some teriyaki pineapple. Sooo good.
  3. What is it about Mondays? really? 2nd Monday in a row where everything fell apart on me. Maybe a goal for next week should be to get through Monday without this happening... or maybe I should move my rest days to Monday... there is a thought. I like that thought. Caloriewise I was a little high, but still lower than 2k. But we ended up with dinner at KFC because of lack of planning on my part. I overslept this morning, was two hours late for work. Not a happy me. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
  4. Those are some wonderful traditions!! In our house Santa brings the stockings full of fun things and some things mom would NEVER buy (like practical joke shocking gum) and the parents get the presents. I don't want Santa getting credit for how awesome I am and the sacrifice I go through to give them an awesome Christmas. I love the Best Buy commercials this year!! I feel that way sometimes. My youngest is 11 this year, she'll be 12 over the summer, and is pretty sure Santa doesn't exist but she isn't sure yet. I just tell her that if she doesn't believe he doesn't come, and once she is past it we are going to talk more about how he is the Spirit of Christmas, the embodiment of all the good things that bring people together over the Christmas season. My eldest (16 this week EEK) is long past it, but she doesn't spoil it for her sister. We love leaving cookies out for him though. I agree! Have fun and let Kids be kids!!
  5. So over the weekend I fell off the wagon a little bit. My calories were a little high, partially brought on by a NEED for homemade chicken noodle soup. Didn't get any organized exercise going, but did do quite a bit of shopping both days. But, new week, new goals! With Christmas this week and an out of town trip planned workouts are going to be a little odd but workable. 2 rebel fitness workouts, with a third on Saturday night if I can manage the time. 2 1/2 sets of cardio with the girls, and then waterslides/swimming on Friday/Saturday Foodwise I am going to stay with one 'paleo' style meal a day this week, and eat at between 1800-2k cals. Except Friday night when we go to Texas De Brazil for our Christmas trip. I am going to enjoy myself and not worry to much about it. Week two is underway, with its own challenges, but I will rock this out!
  6. I would be very interested in hearing more about this too. My girls are getting an xbox for Christmas and I am looking into some of the fitness programs too.
  7. Good call on the pepsi max, just know that going cold turkey on anything caffeinated can cause its own issues. Headaches, body aches etc. Its an addiction. I would maybe consider subbing tea or something with some caffeine in it while you transition then ween yourself off of it.
  8. Soooo because I wasn't sore Friday morning after the cardio the day before I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and try the first workout of the Rebel Fitness Guide. I didn't do as bad as I thought I would! I spent my entire day pumped up because of it. And now this morning my shoulders, sides, and upper arms are all making themselves known. The coolest part is I get a real workout to log in my battle log!! Warmed up and then: BW Squats 2x12 incline pushups (footboard) 2x8 step ups 2x10 lat pull down 2x15 hipraises 2x10 Plank 1x20 1x10 cardio (10) and stretches after Despite trip to movie theater my food was right on target calorie wise even if it wasn't the most healthy of choices (popcorn nomnomnomnom) though the pop I drank made it hard to sleep, will need a better choice there next time. WOOT!!
  9. have you talked to your BF about it? To find a good melding, introduce something new?
  10. We do the list thing too between the adults. That way we get things we really want and or need. Though I am NOT picky. Though the best gifts I ever got were for my past birthday when my girls (at my BF's instigation) made donations to my favorite charities. Totally rocked! And not just because I couldn't think of anything I wanted for my birthday other than getting my kitchen knives sharpened... still waiting for that one.
  11. Smurray~ That is an awesome tradition. At one point I was one of those people so I KNOW they appreciate it. Shortkaik~ your mom is smart!! I get the girls new PJs every year I wish I had thought of something like that years ago, maybe to late to change it now LOL
  12. Sounds like you had a great week! Grats. I Love Horse Racing! Though I haven't been in years. I love your goals for the night! Let us know how much fun you had
  13. because there will be no presents and no stockings. At the suggestion of a friend we are doing a scavenger hunt this year to make it fun and mess with their heads. What are some of your Christmas traditions?
  14. and as a thought, maybe you would find your BW exercises more fun if you used your toddler as an additional weight. Let her ride you while doing push ups? Hold her while doing squats? Make it some daddy daughter tickle time? Though that may encourage her to get up...
  15. After reading through this thread I have nothing useful to add to the discussion but I feel my mind has been stretched in interesting ways.... and I have a need to quote Impulse (Or it may have been Kid Flash, I'm not sure which, my Ex was the comic geek, I just dabble)
  16. Today was awesome! I ate good Met my calorie goals, got voted the best mom in the world AGAIN because I made chex mix today, and then we did our work out. A friend of the girls joined us for belly dance fat busting (more like butt kicking) and we laughed a lot and enjoyed ourselves and OMG worked hard. We have decided we are going to stick with belly dance for our cardio until we get bored with it though we may try different belly dance workouts (I have 2dvds with a total of 5 workouts between them)
  17. I hope you feel better. Take it a little easy on yourself today. Get lots of fluids, sleep a bit more, and try not to push it to hard. If you get to the gym and feel like working out go for it, but listen to your body :-) feel better soon!
  18. That sounds GOOD!!! I have a serious dislike for mayo. Our grocery has the avocados on sale right now, maybe I'll go grab another one and try that. Yum!
  19. seriously, OMG.. gonna have to try those.
  20. my eldest likes the taste of avocado but not the texture. My youngest refuses to eat it. Neither likes sushi which is a favorite of mine. But I will say for them the both try it once in awhile to see if they have changed their minds. Speaking of sushi I think I am going to add that to my list of mile post rewards (which are a work in progress) I want to avoid food rewards as much as possible but I think that if I make it a special occasion for a major goal just once I think it would be a good exception to the rule. Its to expensive here to eat all that often and the grocery store sushi is nasty, I would rather NOT buy it and save up for when I can go get the real stuff... EFTnerd~ ty!! I hope you enjoy.
  21. awsd00~ I am doing pretty good actually. I'm down to one glass a day. I enjoy it and I think that since my caffeine addiction is no longer controlling me I'm doing pretty good. I drink diet soda and while I know that the artificial sweeteners aren't good for me I would rather not have the sugar. I keep a bottle of water with me pretty much constantly at this point. I'm up to about 70 oz of water a day, and I mix in some 'tru lemon' or 'tru lime' because plain water upsets my stomach sometimes. Its weird, but a thing. ETFnerd~ LOL My family is a HUGE part of my life, there is no separating them from me. My eldest kicks my butt at fitness, she is so awesome! My youngest has some fitness challenges. I'm hoping that I can keep this a 'family affair' even if it means that my work outs aren't getting done at the most opportune times for me. By the way your new avatar is SCARY!!!
  22. Great Job!! Keep us in the loop
