  1. Good job with the progress so far! Keep up the good work. I like your reward system (and the names you give them!). I've developed something similar for myself on HabitRPG. Really makes you work harder towards your goals when the rewards sound that much cooler haha.
  2. Yeah, you're probably right about focusing on eating them first. I think a big key is to prepare meals ahead of time or to chop up fresh veggies to make them readily available for my meals. Thanks for the information. Should be a fun little adventure in it's own doing a little research on the subject and finding new recipes!
  3. Day 4 (Yesterday): I decided to try a shorter run to test my ankle out. I did 3km in 14:40 and it didn't feel too bad. Today it's a little sore though. I'll give it a day to rest and try another probably shorter and less intense run tomorrow. I'm training for a marathon relay that's on May 10th. Basically there's teams of 8 runners that run 5-6km each around the city. Most people run at a 5min/km pace and I'm currently lined up to do a 6km leg. However so far my best 6km time is 33:30. I end up dying around the 5th kilometer. My other quests are going quite well. I reached my healthy eating goal for the day (3/4 for the week) and managed 10,000 steps again. So far this week I'm 3/4 in terms of doing something active (I'm not counting the 10,000 steps towards that goal as I do a lot of walking with my job) which means I have to do something active everyday for the remainder of the week. Cheers!

Good job with the goals! Good running shoes are essential. I don't have the best pair either and because of that I injured my ankle (learnt my lesson). If you have a running store of any kind that would be the best place for shoes because they can take measurements and give you shoe suggestions based on the shape of your foot. I've found that unsweetened almond milk is a great substitute for regular milk. It's a little thicker but honestly I don't notice a big difference in taste. It also has a lot less calories ~30 per serving and no sugar. You're a brave soul for trying to quit coffee. That's one I haven't been successful with yet so keep it up!
  5. Thanks! I think the best way to proceed will be to eat a fruit or vegetable before I get to each of my main meals. If I can do this before breakfast, lunch, and supper I'll be able to stick to my goal. That or I'll have to find more interesting ways to cook vegetables to make them more appealing. However, eating them raw is supposed to be better. Personally I find sticking to a healthy diet is much more difficult than sticking to a workout routine. Or I should say forcing myself to eat vegetables over other options is more difficult. I feel like a kid at the supper table again: "Finish your vegetables or you won't get any desert!".
  6. Okay so Day 3 was a somewhat successful day. I went to the gym and did a quick workout with less than 30 seconds of rest in between sets to try and get some cardio in. I did mostly bodyweight exercises with a couple cable and dumbbell exercises. I always like to finish my workouts with pushups and abs (super set) so no rest in between sets. I did not reach my fruits/veggies for the day though. Shame on me! This is my weak point. I've also decided to switch my life goal to creating a workout and nutrition plan/schedule with all my fitness my goals outlined. Hopefully every else is having success in their 6-week challenges! Good luck!
  7. Congrats on attaining your previous goals! I've only recently started weight training and learning to focus on form over trying to lift heavier weights is sometimes a challenge in itself. Those are some great goals you've got lined up so keep up the good work!
  8. Hello! My first day of the 6-week challenge went well. I managed to eat my 3 vegetables/fruits for the day. I also managed to get in my 10,000 steps for the day (using my fitbit to keep track). I'm still recovering from an ankle injury so no running yet. Hopefully I can get started on that soon! I am currently on day 2 and I've eaten my veggies/fruits, obtained my 10,000 steps and squeezed in a yoga session from P90X (I don't know if anyone has done that one before, it's intense!). I would honestly suggest the P90X yoga or any yoga for that matter for people who are either recovering from an injury or looking for something new to mix into their workouts. Of course don't go overboard but even simple yoga postures can help strengthen joints and muscles. On top of that it's a great workout! My plan for tomorrow is to go to the gym and do some bodyweight exercises and some dumbell exercises for upper body. I usually tend to split my workouts into upper/lower body. That's just a preferance though. Hopefully everyone is having succes so far with their own 6-week challenges. Goodluck to you all!
  9. Hey Everyone! I'm new to the Nerd Fitness Rebellion. I have been following this blog for awhile now and I happened to stumble across this new 6-week challenge earlier today. I have never joined a forum before but I thought this would be a good motivational tool to stay fit and healthy. Main Quest: My main quest is to eventually be able to do some high level bodyweight exercises such as pistol squats, one arm pull ups, and one arm pushups while also incorporating a healthy dose of yoga, meditation, and healthy eating habits. Another goal of mine is to be able to run a sub-20 minute 5km. Quest 1: Run 5km in less than 24min 30sec. My PR is 25:14. Grade: A: <24:30, B: 24:40, C: 24:50, D: 25:00, F: 25:10 Quest 2: Eat 3 fruits/vegetables everyday for the entire 6 weeks. Grade: A: 100% compliance, B: 90%, C: 80%, D: 70%, F <70%. Quest 3: Work out or do something active 6 times a week for all 6 weeks. Grade: A: 100% compliance, B: 90%, C: 80%, D: 70%, F <70%. Life Goal: Create a workout and nutrition plan/schedule with my fitness goals outlined. Motivation: I have been working out and eating somewhat healthy since January 1st (you guessed it New Years Resolution). This has been enough time for me to notice results. Now seeing how far I've come along it's difficult to stop as I want to keep improving. I also just bought my first real suit so being able to still fit in that will also be motivation. Cheers and good luck to everyone else!
