  1. Good job on levelling up! Also it's great that you modified your workouts to make it work for you rather than just avoiding working out altogether!
  2. Oh I used to use HabitRPG, it's quite awesome. I only stopped using it because I don't really need it anymore and I just forgot to tick things off more often than not!
  3. Week end update! It was hard to study last week as I was up and down the train lines so much, but managed to get 2 days of study in. Will make it up over the following weeks though so it should be okay, I knew I wasn't about to get much done last week. Not done too badly on eating - a deficit every day except one day and a couple of days under 1500kcal. Today I ate under 1500 too, so extra points for me. I think over my next challenge I will focus on tightening this up even further though and remove my "high end" cap from 2000 to 1700 to really start losing more. Running has been going well. Did the C25k week 5 run 3 last Friday - 20 minutes non stop. Last week summary: Goal 1 Studying: 2/5 points Goal 2 Running: 3/3 points Goal 3 Diet: 7.5/10.5 points This week so far: Goal 1 Studying: 1/1 points Goal 2 Running: 1/1 points Goal 3 Diet: 1.5/1.5 points I also need to work out my points for levelling up now. Just going to assume I will get As on everything (not sure I will with my diet but I'm certainly aiming for it), so will assign 2/3 of my points out from each goal to the best allocation of whole numbers: Goal 1 Studying: +3 WIS Goal 2 Running: +4 STA Goal 3 Diet: +3 CON
  4. Week beginning 4/5/15 Monday: C25k Week 6 Run 1 - 5 minutes running, 3 minutes walking, 8 minutes running, 3 minutes walking, 5 minutes running - DONE! Tuesday: Rest Wednesday: C25k Week 6 Run 2 - 10 minutes running, 3 minutes walking, 10 minutes running- DONE! Thursday: Rest Friday: C25k Week 6 Run 3 - 25 minutes running- DONE! Saturday: Rest Sunday: C25k Week 7 Run 1 - 25 minutes running - DONE!
  5. Well done on your goals this week, you are doing amazingly. You're going to meet your novice weight goal before this challenge is even over! 1 circuit is better than none, I think you're entitled to take it easy one week, you know you will be back at the BBWW full swing this week!
  6. Glad I'm not the only one who has trouble with puddings. Not been an easy week as I was travelling around for my internship assessment centre and preparing for it the first half of the week, then did nothing out of exhaustion yesterday. :-/ Got a lot of studying to catch up on. On a positive note, haven't been doing badly on the diet side of things - Monday and Tuesday were under 1500kcal, Wednesday was under 2000kcal. I went over a few hundred yesterday though - I stress ate as there was a problem with the site for registering my modules for next year's classes and I had a major panic that I wouldn't get into any of my classes, lost control and ate a couple of biscuits too many - oops! Being extra good today to make up for it and studying over the weekend to catch up on the weekdays I lost. So far: Goal 1 Studying: 1 point (including today) Goal 2 Running: 2 points (final run tomorrow) Goal 3 Diet: 4 points (not including today)
  7. Just a heads up for RPG/FPS lovers - GreenManGaming is doing a 2K games sale. I just got Borderlands 2 Game of the Year edition for 80% off (then another 20% with an e-mail voucher). Got it for £7 instead of £35 on steam, so if anyone was thinking about getting it, now is a good time. My fiance's brother recommended it to me, so hopefully it lives up to the expectations I have of it now! Anyone else here played it and have any tips for starting out?
  8. That is an amazing 5k time and coming 17th overall is no small feat! Well done and may you continue to set even more personal bests!
  9. Just somewhere I'm going to record what I do for workouts, so maybe in a year or so I can look back and see how far I have come. Week beginning 27/4/15 Monday: C25k Week 5 Run 1 - 5 minutes running, 3 minutes walking, 5 minutes running, 3 minutes walking, 5 minutes running - DONE! Tuesday: Rest Wednesday: C25k Week 5 Run 2 - 8 minutes running, 5 minutes walking, 8 minutes running - DONE! Thursday: Rest Friday: C25k Week 5 Run 3 - 20 minutes running - DONE! Saturday: Rest Sunday:Rest 2015 Goals: Run a 5kRun a 5k in under 30 minutesLose 30lbs (2015 goal weight: 120lbs)Start regular strengh trainingStart going to a yoga class once/twice a weekCurrent PBs: 5k - 33:07
  10. We all get those cravings days, I had a couple of bad days too this week, and it's not the end of the world if you're doing it right over the long term, which it seems you definitely are! Great job this week!
  11. 1. Having a hard time sticking to a calorie deficit because I've come home for a job interview and am now faced with my mum's wonderful cooking, which is near on impossible to resist afer having to cook for myself so often. 2. This article and this article reminded me that a) my willpower is finite and maybe it is too big of a challenge for me to tackle all at once with both restricting calories and restising good food and b ) even if I don't like it, I need to fix the problem rather than complain about how I "just can't resist". 3. I was thinking about staying home for a while, but to save my willpower I am going to go back to my term time address the day after my interview where I can get myself into better habits while using up less willpower. I will be removing myself from temptation. It would be nice to stay home for a bit but I need to do what I need to do to start up these habits.
  12. End of week update: Goal 1 Studying: 5/5 points Caught up on the time I lost from travelling by studying over the weekend. Progress through my lecture notes is going well, finished about 2/9 of my subjects even though a lot of that study time was taken up with finishing my essays. Hopefully can get through all my notes over the next 2 weeks and move onto my seminar work. Goal 2 Running: 3/3 points Shifted my Friday run to Saturday as my mum celebrated her birthday on Friday and I was travelling for about 5 hours. Had loads of energy and ready to start next week's runs. Goal 3 Diet: 9.5/12 points Managed a deficit every day except my mum's birthday and hit 1500kcal or under every day except twice. Sometimes I do wish I was taller so I could eat more and still lose weight though. Hopefully the exercise I introduce over the next few challenges will help once I get to maintenence as otherwise I'm going to barely be able to eat anything at 110-120lbs and keep weight off. Overall I'm feeling pretty good about how I did this week. A bit disappointed about going over on Friday but that's just 1 day, it won't matter too much in the long run. Not feeling the pressure of a weekly weigh in has helped me keep on track so far, I just checked a couple of times down this first week that I'm heading in the right direction. Now no more weighing in until the end of the challenge! I think it will be motivating to see a bigger number than usual. Edit: Messed up this evening at the very end with my mum's pudding. Really need to go back to my term time house, I eat terribly at home when there is good food being cooked up every where... Diet: 8/12 points
  13. You should try out one of the realistic survival mods available if you're interested, they're pretty fun!
  14. I was going to be a ranger, but I'm definitely verging over to possibly joining assassins instead now, I just can't decide... I'm planning to end up doing quite a range of exercise, from running, to yoga to strength training, which is rangery, but most of that also fits into the assassins... Ah well I have 4 more weeks to choose I guess. Also, sorry I haven't been popping into anyone's threads the past few days, it's been hectic - helping a friend move house, revising for exams, travelling halfway across the country back to my family's house and now I have a 20 minute presentation to prepare to get an internship position over tomorrow and Monday. D: Hopefully after Wednesday I will be a bit more active again as my presentation will be done.
  15. Another update just to record my points: Goal 1 Studying: 3.5 points Lost 0.5 points here today. My friend needed to sleep over last night as she was having issues with her landlady, so we stayed uptalking until about 1am. I'm pretty knackered today but still managed to go to a revision lecture, for 3 hrs total out of 6. Goal 2 Running: 2 points Ran again yesterday, was a nice day and went round the pond at the local park - lovely! Goal 3 Diet: 7 points Lost 0.5 points here yesterday. Cooked dinner with my friend and she showed me a recipe which after I logged found out it took me over 1500kcals but still under 2000kcal. Not bad seeing as I had no idea what she was even planning to cook. Back to normal today though.
  16. Hey, you're doing great so far! My goal on the next challenge is going to be getting through the BBWW. It looks tough, so well done to you for just getting through one circuit at all. If you want some more accountability for MFP then feel free to add me, I'm JustAGal95, hear you on the struggle of not wanting to know the numbers some days!
  17. I certainly have no problem with AJ joining! I like the idea of an initiation too, I've been meaning to get round to visiting everyone
  18. Welcome doughboy, looks like this group just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
  19. Hi, I'm going to be joining as number 8, so long as no-one has any objections. Although I'm probably not going to become a complete assassin and am most likely going to rangers, my next challenge after this will probably be quite assassiny, and it will be awesome to have a group to do this with. Good luck with all your challenges!
  20. Done! 1. Signiture was done already 3. Followed Iceburner and ThisTimeLucky on their challenges. Also, if anyone has spots in an accountability group and is looking for a new member, please let me know!
  21. Glad you like the idea and hope you have some fun with it Hey, I'm an ex-Dota player too. If you like RPGs I'll shamelessly plug the Dragon Age series. Origins, the first one, is pretty cheap now on Steam or Origin if you need something to keep you ticking over. Honestly has some of the best characters in any game series in my opinion, with an awesome plot to boot. If it's the multiplayer part of games you like, but don't want the negativity of Dota, try out Warframe - it's a third person shooter (with swords and warhammers and such as well though) and you play in 4 player squads PvE (with a PvP arena available) and everyone there is mostly friendly/ wants to help out new people. If not, what other genres do you like in general?
  22. Hey, you're doing great so far! Really respect you being able to cut out bread, it's something I'd like to be able to to eventually, it's much better without it. Keep up the good work! Also, I'm a HabitRPG user too, although I just started over. Let me know if you want to quest sometime, I'm always up to go beat bosses!
  23. Well I don't eat too badly for a student. Usually for breakfast it's a couple of hard boiled eggs, some milk and an apple, a banana mid-morning, a sandwich and some little tomatoes for lunch, then potato, peas, mixed veg and chicken for dinner. It comes in at about 100kcal under my goal so then I have room for a few nibbles throughout the day too. I've noticed I feel way better eating eggs for breakfast compared to cereal. With cereal I'm just hungry again in the next few hours but not so much with the eggs. Think I will be switching out the bread at some point too, probably for those light cracker things, so then I can add some mixed nuts to much lunch as well.
  24. Any Dragon Age fans here? Not just Inquisition, but I love the whole series. Been thinking of using some of the characters/ classes as inspiration for theming my future 6 week challenges to put a fun spin on things. Has anyone else tried anything like this with their favourite games?
  25. Good news for me - turns out I have 2 weeks more until my exams than I thought Because of that and after 2 days I'm feeling like 8 hours a day straight off will just not be sustainable, I'm cutting down my studying to 6 hours a day instead. Still plenty of time to revise, just a bit more me time in the evenings. I've been enjoying my new meal plan, been eating eggs for breakfast and it's amazing how much more filling they are compared to cereal! Not had any slip ups yet and been under 1500 calories each day. Started running again yesterday and although it was hard due to my month long break, it's great to be at it again. As a mini challenge to myself, I'm going to aim to not weigh myself each week, just once at the end of this week to know I am on the right track, then again at the end of the challenge. Before I always get hooked over a certain number and letting myself slack off after hitting it, but hopefully this way I won't be able to do that. Instead I'll be taking a progress picture once a week and keeping it in a progress folder on my laptop to track my progress. So far: Goal 1 Studying: 2 points Goal 2 Running: 1 point Goal 3 Diet: 4.5 points
