  1. Day 5 was National Cheeseburger Day. I think I did well because I didn't gorge myself. I had a total of 4 beers - Michelob Ultra if that even counts. Day 6 I am at work. I ate 2 slices of pizza will my colleagues. I'm glad I didn't make the decision to completely do without. I also didn't overeat again which I feel is a success. Plan to work tomorrow and then back to my veggies and stuff on Monday.
  2. Day 4 I did real well. Another 15k in steps and a lite lunch salad. Getting my food ready for tomorrow. Eating healthy on the weekend is always a challenge for me. Also Day 4 with no beer. Wow!
  3. Day 3 was great! 15K steps - moved all kinds of equipment around the office the past few days so it's been an inter-office workout. Ate a bit a sweet cornbread at lunch. Don't realize how sweet things can be until I go a bit without sugar.
  4. Keeping true to myself I've managed 2 days with my 10K steps. Actually, 17k steps today! No workout at home as my feet ache. Well....only 40 more days to go!!
  5. Hi all - my name is Shana (rhymes with iguana). I originally hail from the great State of Texas but currently live in the Cayman Islands where I work for....wait for it.....a major financial institution. This is also my first attempt at a 6 week challenge. I have proven to myself time again that when I put my mind to it, I can lose the weight. Keeping it off, however, is a completely different story. In the past 8 years, I've seen 200lbs, 150, 170, 160 and am now residing at a plump 183lbs. I figure I’m toting around a large sack of dog foot with me everywhere I go. It would be much easier to function if I could get rid of it and keep it off. Admittedly, I don’t know that I have ever stuck with ANY program for 6 weeks. Alas, there is a first time for everything, isn’t there? I have to start somewhere, and this is it. Super-main quest!!! Lose 12 lbs in 6 weeks. That is 2lbs per week. Slow and steady does it!! Here's how I plan to do it: Quest 1 – 10,000 steps per day, 6 days per week making sure I’ve hit my mark BEFORE I get home. Use my fancy watch and Android app to track it. Quest 2 – Do some form of workout at home roughly 6 times per week. Try to get in 15 to 20 minutes of something, morning or evening. Having access to various workout videos and programs, it is time to put them to use. Quest 3 – Cut back on drinking calories. I love beer, and I can continue to love beer. I just don’t need to love it during the week. Maybe a few on the weekend or at special events will be OK (keeping it the LITE version of course). Should save me a lot of $$$ because drinking here is f*cking expensive. I will also cut out the consistent junk food. I enjoy my veggies and I like cooking in my tiny kitchen. I just need to do it for longer than a week at a time. Side Quest 1 - Get better organized and pick up after myself. I’m 40-something years old. My place should stop looking like a frat-house. This goes for my cube at work, too. Not sure how I will track this one, but not having to spend 15 minutes per day looking for my keys and phone should be a start. Putting all of my clothes away might be a close second. This one will be tough! Side Quest 2 – Go on an adventure at least 3 times during the 6 weeks. Maybe hit the Mastic Trail or catch the bus to town and walk a ways back. Check out the same things I have checked out for years, only for more time. After all, it is my last year in Cayman. I’m not quite sure how I will gauge any of this just yet, but I will report to myself here. It might be weekly or more often. Hopefully, in a few weeks I can look back and see some progress I am proud of 38th time (attempting to lose weight and get in shape) is a charm!!! ** Let's do this **
  6. ..I guess that's what I am! I have tix to their 40th anniversary tour. Flying back to the States in a few weeks to see them in Austin. Oh, I can't wait.
  7. Alrighty! I went all in and posted a pic of myself. Been doing good the past couple of days. My collegue brought lunch today - jerk chicken and rice. I ate about 30% of it and will pace myself on it for the next day or two. Normally I would have scarfed the whole thing down. I've also gone 3 days without a delicious Belgian wheat beer. At $5 each, my bank account is thanking me. I've loaded my phone with the discography of Rush, and tomorrow I plan to hike to Georgetown (I live in WB/Hell). I will pay attention as to how far it is; I estimate about 7 miles. Heck, maybe I'll even try to walk back (ha)!
  8. I got my certification a couple of years ago, and have since done just about every shore dive that can be done. It is cheap with your own equipment - like $10. We used to go all the time. These days, not so much. Yes, it is truly beautiful - a completely different world underwater!
  9. Hey, I'm here and I love beach parties. Only a flight or two away (Cayman Islands)
  10. I just figured out how to reply on this thing so I'm going to repost...maybe delete my other post I'm just a standard Network Admin & Help Desk Support. It can get really fancy with firewall rules and equipment racking, and it can get really simple like getting the Keurig to work on Monday morning. It is the variety of the tasks that I enjoy, and the commute isn't too bad either
  11. Well, I say I work in IT, but had a heck of a time figuring out how to reply on this thing. It didn't seem to like IE 11. In any event, I work in the Cayman Islands. Have been here for almost 8 years.
  12. Well, I hope I can get this reply thing to work as it should! I'm just a standard Network Admin & Help Desk Support. It can get really fancy with firewall rules and equipment racking, and it can get really simple like getting the Keurig to work on Monday morning. It is the variety of the tasks that I enjoy
  13. Hi Guys/Gals - Reading through the different groups, this one seems to do it for me. Mind if I join? I'm still new to the whole NF thing, and, albeit a bit late, I'm going to partake in my first 6-week challenge. Still getting my goals together, etc. but I plan to keep it simple. Time to get a grip on my love for a good beer (mouth waters thinking about it). Also, I hope to exercise a minimum of 4 times a week, but keep up with my 10K steps for every weekday and maybe a break on Sunday. Hopefully the simple changes I make will stick. Me in a nutshell: 40 something female Work in IT industry Work/Live in the Caribbean Married for 4 years (2nd marriage) I'll end it there. I'm hoping a month from now I can look down at the scale and see a nice, lower, difference! -Shana
