  1. I wouldn't worry if he gets annoyed or upset while he quits smoking. When I quit smoking (I tried 9-10 times before it finally sorta stuck) my girlfriend and I got into screaming matches about completely inane things for the first two weeks. In retrospect it was pretty comical. No matter what you do, or how supportive you are he'll likely be cranky. You can actually look at this as a time where you can do things that may annoy him and he'll later just blame it on quitting smoking
  2. What are your goals and how much are you exercising? I'm at a comfortable weight and am fairly active so when I first tried out paleo (not that long ago) my diet looked like yours and I was constantly hungry. After a week I started changing things up and two things helped immensely. 1) adding in more starchy foods with meals (sweet potatoes, plantains, etc etc), but from what I gather this shouldn't be done if you're trying to lose weight. 2) increased my fat intake (avocado and coconut milk are great ways to do it). Don't be afraid to experiment a bit.

    Easy Paleo Lunch?

One thing that really helped me initially was making large amounts of food Sunday evening. Things you can make in mass make life easy. This chilli recipe is great. http://paleohmygoodness.blogspot.com/2011/11/butternut-squash-curry-chili.html Also, instead of cooking boneless skinless chicken breasts, try getting the breasts with bone still in, they're cheaper and much more forgiving when you overcook them.
