  1. I actually really enjoyed the weather!  But I'm from Michigan so humidity is a part of my every day life.  The venues were wonderful.  If anything the TCG hall was freezing, so stepping out into the warmer weather felt really nice :)

Today's mantra - Feed Yourself First

Seriously , I can't stand how selfish that sounds as I'm typing it.  But it's true.  I can't even begin to imagine how many days during my Postpartum Depression that I probably had nothing but coffee/tea until my husband came home from work and I made dinner.  Sure, I fed the kids.  Healthy meals too!  Always made sure they had a fruit/veggie on their plates.  But then I didn't eat.

I see this happening right now.  I don't have the desire to get up and make myself food.  But I know I need to eat.  So my mantra today is Feed Yourself First.

Because then I won't just ignore my own needs.  Because then I'll take care of myself out of necessity, in order to take care of the kids.  Because sometimes, you need to make yourself a priority.  Because you deserve it.

I totally get the feels behind this.  Overcoming this was soooooo huge for me.  I don't know where it gets brainwashed into us that we have to be selfless, but all in all I really believe that isn't true.  I know that not everyone shares that view, but at the end of the day you need to look out for number 1.  I don't have children so I imagine that the internal struggle is huge in that department but remember, they want you to be happy and healthy as much as you do.  They want you in their lives playing and interacting with them.  When you're starving and getting all "I haven't eaten in 8 hours" coma like, it's not good for anyone.  Batch cooking will help so much in this department it's not funny!

Good luck!  I'm loving everything you're doing so far.  Super proud of you for doing your workouts in week one!  Triceratops power RAWRRRR!!!!

I managed 7 of them but I'm not able to get completely lowered to the ground yet. I'm still working on not collapsing and keeping my form strong so I am hoping that I can get lower as I build strength during this challenge.

First off I'm still totally in love with this challenge!!  Secondly I ran into the same exact thing during my last challenge.  I got two really great pieces of advice.  1.  Work on the negative.  Start on the ground and push yourself up while maintaining a rigid plank position.  It will train those stabilizer muscles and really help with ROM for  your elbow.  2.  Do inclince pushups on stairs.  Find a stair that you can do the full range of motion with just a little bit of effort.  Do all of your sets there and then the next day move down a stair.  Stay on that stair until it only take a little bit of effort to complete all of your sets and repeat.  It helped me a ton!

Keep up the great work though, I can't wait to see what comes next :)

3x6 Up and Down Planks (PR)

Sorry for the spam, just trying to make it easier for the moderators :)

If you have multiple PRs in a single day, those can be part of a single post.  I believe the new post requirement was to keep people from updating their first post every time they have new PRs.  New posts are easy to find, but reviewing pages of old posts looking for changes is not.

Oh thank God!  I was begining to feel like a nussiance!

Oh and did 50x Flutter Kicks today (PR)

  5. I'm back!  GenCon was a blast, but man did it take a lot out of me!  I felt perpetually hung over the whole week from living my old life style.  I didn't eat right, my water intake was way down, I got very little sleep and the only excersize I did was walk.

But I'm back and ready to get started!

I did my batch cooking on Monday and boy oh boy was that difficult!  I will definately have to grocery shop on Saturday moving forward.  Grocery shopping on the day I'm batch cooking was waaaayyyyyy to much.  But I did it, and now I don't have to cook all week SQUEEEEEE!

Cooking on Monday definately put a damper on my sleep goal though.  So far I've woken up on time yesterday and today, and went to bed on time last night.  I did not go to bed on time on Monday but that's because I was up till midnight cooking, lol!

The darebee ab workout has been interesting.  A.  My core is in WAY worse shape than I thought.  B.  The added arm workouts are not necessary, a lot of the movements I'm doing work my arms plenty!  So I'm eliminating the arm excersizes and I'm changing the walking to just a walking challenge, not attaching it as a warmup.  My life doesn't always allow for an hour to workout but I can split and still do just fine.

I haven't made a single repack this week and there's a good chance I wont.  My life is getting crazy busy so I haven't been able to find time.  But the idea of this 6-week challenge was to learn how to juggle being healthy and busy at the same time since I'm starting school in September.  Mission accomplished!  I'm busy and I'm trying to make it work, some things are working and some things aren't. I can't wait to discover more about my new lifestyle, so stay tuned :)

  6. Ok, I'm late to the party. I've been at GenCon since Wednesday and packing before that. I am more ready than ever to kick my own butt! I'm stoked about this challenge because I'm working on my least favorite (thus worst) area, my core! I am doing the Darebee Ab program which naturally increases in difficulty. Today was Day 1. I am also doing push-ups and weighted rows so those will be added on today.

I read earlier today that you want all PRs in seperate posts so I'm going to spam here, sorry!

    Today I did:

    3x6 knee push-ups (not a PR)

3x6 reverse crunches (not a PR)

3x6 leg raises (not a PR)

3x6 sit ups (PR!) I haven't actually done a sit up since high school (did I mention I hate core work....) so I'm counting this as a PR!

    More to come :)

  7. I'm so happy that you're sticking with this theme! I also think it's a great decision to do Lala given the things you've been through lately. Taking care of yourself while in term oil can be so difficult but it's almost more important during the hard times. GOOD LUCK!!
