  1. I too hate cardio!  One of the best things about nerd fitness is the way that the routines hide cardio.  If you really hate doing cardio work I'd say find otherways to work on your endurance and heart health.  Maybe do High Intensity Interval Training or a circuit of strength training like the Body Weight Level 1 workout.  Those both work your cardio powers in a huge way but take half the time.

For cooking:  I don't do so great in the mornings earlier and I now eat the exact same thing every morning and it takes me about 5 minutes total.  I cook two pieces of bacon in a pan, remove the bacon (leave the grease) and throw in some veggies (usually onions, orange bell peppers, spinach and green beans that I already have chopped up).  Once the veggies are cooked transfer those to a bowl and crack 2 eggs into the pan (that should still have bacon grease in it, so you don't have to add butter or anything).  I cook those till the whites are cooked but the yolks are runny.  I top my veggies with the eggs and use the yolks as a sauce for the veggies.  All of that with a side of bacon.

I also make a quick protein shake in the morning.  That keeps me from being starving in 2 hours :)

I can't wait to see how well you do in this, it sounds like you have great determination so you're going to rock it out!

  2. I love the debt goal!  That's awesome that you're taking accountability for it and taking care of it.  I just leveled up from the level 1 body weight workout to level 2.  It's an awesome workout and I hope you love it.  I can't wait to see how you progress and how strong you get :)

Remember when you're putting on muscle that diet is a big player in the equation (love that you're adding in the fruits and veggies), but also make sure that you're fueling your body after that workout.  Nothing worse then putting in all that effort just to have your body consume your muscles.

    Good Luck!

  3. As far as diet goes make sure you're getting enough greens.  I like sauteed spinach or kale.  Both are super nutrient dense and help with your immune system.

I can't wait to hear about all of your progress, I know you're going to rock it out :)

  4. HI!  My name is Caitlin and this is my first time participating in a 6-week challenge.  I have been following nerd fitness for about 2 months now and am a proud Academy Assassin!  I recently reached an all time high in weight (219 lbs) and had my diet so screwed up I couldn't even get over a common cold.  So I decided to go full force into my weight loss journey.  My ulitmate goal is to loose 60 lbs (that would take me to 160 lbs).  More importantly than all of that is that I WANT TO BE HEALTHY!!  I was a gymnist, dancer and cheerleader as a kid and my body could perform just about any activity I asked of it.  Now-a-days tying my shoes makes me winded (wtf?!).  So it's stopping now.  Ofiicially.  I am already 12lbs into my weight loss and am working every day at bettering myself!  Now it's time to step it up and make my goals public.

  5. I guess for me hungry isn't the right word. Rurik used the right word, satiated. It didn't matter how much good food I ate I was still ravenous. After some experimentation and reflection I think I narrowed the issue down to sugar withdraws. It always happened at the same time every day (after dinner) so now I plan on having an after dinner sweet snack. Right now I'm using some of my old favorites (all non paleo) and regulating portions. While not ideal, it's a small step I can handle. After a month of that I'm going to switch to fruits and then hopefully I'll be able to stop my after dinner treat.

  6. I've been working on my diet and excersize routine for the past month or so. Today was one of those days that would have previously ejected me from the wagon. But I didn't!

I go to Yoga every Friday evening and it's a corner stone of my new lifestyle, aka EXTREMELY important to me. Today my instructed was surprise replaced with a brand new instructor (one of his first classes) and it turned out to be a pretty bad experience for me. I was actually tearing up at some point through the class. Former me would have walked out half way through or sat on my butt and meditated instead of participating. But I didn't! I completed the whole class regardless of how I felt. Success number 1

Old me also would have ate my way through my feelings while writing a HORRIBLE letter to the yoga studio, but I did neither. I ate the meal I had planned on eating and focused my energy on being thankful for the class and on forgiving the instructor (the poor guy was probably super nervous). So now I feel great and have no bad vibes going into the weekend. Success number 2!!

  7. Hi!

I'm JUST starting to workout and I chose to do the angry bird workout this morning. I started at level 1 for all of the exercises. Now I am INCREDIBLY out of shape but somehow manages to complete all of them in two sets. I did it circuit style and let's just say "I ain't no pansy" crossed my mind once or twice, lol. Post workout though I could hardly move. I did all of my stretching on my back and didn't get up for 10 minutes or so. I'm terrified to see what getting out of bed tomorrow is going to feel like :(

I know that since I completed my reps in two sets I'm supposed to advance a level, but I really don't feel confident in doing that. Again I'm supper new to working out so I don't know if my inability to move is a good thing (like "Yeah! You kicked your a**) or a sign that I over exerted myself.

Any and all advice/comments are much appreciated! Thanks!

  8. Hi everyone!

I am a new member (this is my first post) but I've been following NF for a few months now.  I was introduced to paleo through the site and have been incorporating it slowly into my life.  Breakfast and some snacks are a still a struggle for me, but for the most part lunch and dinner are paleo.

My biggest struggle committing 100% to this plan is hunger.  In the past I've had the worst eating habbits ever, basically a free for all, and I'm not used to denying my body much (obviously a BIG part of my problem).  Over the past few months I've been monitoring my eating habbits to try and identify my weak spots, and BY GEORGE! I THINK I'VE GOT IT! (hehe).  My meal plans are nice and clean but between lunch and dinner as well as after dinner I get SERIOUS hunger pains and get quite hangry (my support system doesn't care for that too much).  Since these moments of weakness aren't planned for I tend to go to my usual suspects which are ice cream, chips or candy.  I actually go as far as to get into my car and drive to 7-11 and buy them in the moment :(

I know that some hunger is to be expected since I'm restricting myself but there has to be a happy medium.  My body is used to eating a pretty carb-centric diet so I tend not to feel full staying Paleo and I think that's a BIG problem I'm having.  So what's worked for you guys?  Are there any foods in particular that really fill you up?

    Thanks!
