  2. So I've been pretty MIA this week. I did really well making food for lunch all week and sticking to only water and coffee. I got at least 5,000 steps every day which I am really happy about but practising my push ups was very difficult. The metal screws in my wrist felt they were catching on a nerve so I've not been able to put any weight on them at all. It seems to have sorted itself out now though so I will go through the BBWW before bed tonight. This weekend I went to stay with the Boyfriend so diet and exercise went out of the window for a few days, I don't care I was having fun.
  3. Mini challenge #3 - CON +1 So your challenge for this week has 3 parts: 1. Pinpoint the quest in your journey that is giving you the most uphill (or one that you're struggling to achieve) That would be making my lunch everyday for work. I fall in to the habit of making the same thing everyday, getting bored so buying food at work instead. 2. Search through NF (forums or articles) to find one that is able to offer some assistance This article on easy prep meals and This forum post will be a huge help. 3. Apply it to your challenge (no collecting underpants here). I'm going to use these to plan out my healthier meals for the week, preparing the basics in advance to save time each morning and just change what I eat them with to not get bored.
  4. I'm a spoonie too I hope you don't mind if I follow your challenge, I'm looking forward to seeing you progress.
  5. Sundays are my super lazy day so reaching those 5000 steps is always a challenge. I decided to go for a mile walk along the canal as it's a beautiful day. I dragged myself out of bed and set up my gps app to notify me when I reached 0.5 miles so I could turn around and walk home. Once I got outside I didn't wan't to stop, I'd walked 2.5 miles before turning around to walk back. I've never walked 5 miles in one go, very proud of myself right now.
  6. Mini Challenge 1: +1WIS Is your overall quest achievable (over a short or long period of time)? Is it reasonable? Yes I think so Do your 3 quests all build towards your main quest in little ways, or are you taking on too much? Do your quests have sub-quests or is it just one thing to focus on? In small ways they will all help me to lose weight which will make the main quest easier. Are your main goals realistic? Can you scale them to smaller steps to fit your life better, even if it will make it take a little longer to achieve them? I can split my main quest into smaller goals by following the Handstand progression on the NF Blog Are your goals able to be measured and tracked? What will you use to track them? I can track 1 and 3 using my fitbit and it's app. How are you grading your goals? Are they pass/fail (“every dayâ€, “not even once over the six weeksâ€)? Is there a reward for the effort, or are you only grading yourself on whether or not you “lose the weight†or “run the distanceâ€? My goals are pass/fail with 1 and 3 being measured every day. Quest 2 will be graded on how often I practice push ups. What is your plan for continuing/altering/grading those goals if you become ill or injured? Getting ill/injured is a constant worry for me. If it does happen I will change Quest 1 and 2 by dropping the number of steps and changing the exercise based on the injury. Did you take into consideration any special occasions (Labour Day, Independence Day, birthdays, anniversaries, etc) that may occur during the challenge? What modifications do you need to build into your goals for those? My birthday is during the challenge but it shouldn't change any of my Quests. I can make a healthy lunch and then eat all the cake. Do any of your main goals conflict with each other? Will one goal make it hard to do another? Not that I can see Do you already have the time in your schedule to actually complete the goals you’ve set? If not, what are you planning to do to make time for them? To make time for me to prepare lunch everyday I will make it the night before and watch 30 minutes less TV Are you trying to build multiple habits, or is all your energy focused on your main quest? For me this is all about getting a few habits together that will make my main quest easier to reach. I could put all my attention in to learning how to do a handstand now but it will be a lot easier if I lost some weight first.
  7. Hi. My name is Rachel, I'm 22 and I don't really do much right now. I work in IT Supports so spend most of my day sat at my desk and drinking coffee. I have always promised myself to start eating better/exercising "tomorrow" and now it's a few years and a lot of excuses later but tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. My motivation is always terrible so I'm not going to rely on it any more. A big part of the excuse was getting diagnosed with an autoimmune disease 4 years ago, I was in constant pain and ended up gaining 60 lbs. Then I started seeing a new doctor who gave me medication that worked and I've been mostly pain free for a year now. Since then I've managed to get myself from not being able to walk around the house to going for hour long walks. But now progress has stopped so I need to change something. Main Quest: Hold a handstand for 30 seconds - I will have this by next year. Quest 1: Walk at least 5,000 steps a day. I take the bus most of the time so I will start by walking to a stop further from my house. Quest 2: By the end of the challenge I will be able to do a kneeling push up - I have metal screws in my wrist so push ups are a challenge right now. Quest 3: Make a healthy lunch before work instead of buying food while I'm there. The money I will save is an added bonus. Life Quest: Save money! I want to stop spending money on things that I don't need I'm moving out in a few months so I will need every penny. Motivation: I don't want my joints to be permanently damaged. I've been lucky to avoid it so far and want to keep it that way.
