  3. Hey, Assassins! I'm making this thread for the purpose of organizing squads for the upcoming challenge. So far, we have 11 people signed up, and y'all will be broken up into two squads to keep things interesting. There will be either weekly or biweekly squad challenges, because who doesn't love a little friendly competition? I looked over all of your threads and fitness goals, and tried to get a good mix of beginner/advanced/intermediate, and a good mix of goals, in each squad. With that all said, here are the lists: Squad A: Ryan Sannar Scarletleavy Tigersheart Elastigirl JCannon9818 Pheippides Ysabet Dennys Philociraptor Aybee77 Thatgirljj Raikas Leimanu KimPossible Fable SweetSis rix Joseph Katenz Bantergirl FemShep RondradanSJ Squad B: NukeTheUnicorns NorthFloridaNinja Teneris Klaymates JoeyB Bumblebee4 Shmikey Cresca Muccapello Koryu DaveSix Damys Cavemom Lonestar Lessjos Jettes JeffTheCow HolaMindy 161803398874989 azk4 KeinanMiller PlaqFree Hatenik_The_Barbarian Squad C TJSlaggs drsloomis Vegemighty Aeam AtSeaLevel Silence sandymac writerdan azsf firecebambi Arichtmann sayre scelle Diacritic renange02 Kilrpengin GeekGrokker Lemongranita Nano SweetLouise That's tenative - we will be accommodating new challengers as they sign up! If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to direct them toward either myself or Ryan Sannar, and we are happy to help you out in any way we can. With that said, good luck to all of you in the challenge. May the force be with you, live long and prosper, and may the odds be ever in your favor! EDIT: WOW GUYS! So many of us awesome assassins signed up that I created an entirely new squad for it! I'm super proud of y'all, and can't wait to see what happens in the next six weeks!
  4. Winterfell is in Westeros, in the northern portion. Relevant image: Map of the Song of Ice and Fire world. Westeros is the continent on the left, Winterfell is situated just south of the Wall.
  5. A pull-up is absolutely possible in six weeks. Here are a few resources: A playlist of Mark Sisson's tutorial And as far as handstands go, this is an awesome how-to. Hope this helps!
  6. Overcoming Gravity can definitely be a bit technical, but the most crucial sections (building your routine, exercise explanations, etc.) are easy enough to understand. I second this. Overcoming Gravity is by far the best book I've read on BW training. It's like a textbook, I find myself referring to it constantly when I'm struggling with a movement.
  7. This is so neat. Weird to imagine Hyrule and Westeros in the same universe - it must be Ocarina of Time era Hyrule. That means that in the great flood that precedes the Wind Waker, Middle Earth, Westeros, Neverland, Narnia, Terabithia, and all those other wonderful places sank below the sea. ;_:
  8. Al Kavadlo is awesome. Also, he reminds me of adult Aang (linked just in case anyone is watching Korra and doesn't want adult Aang's look to be spoiled!).
  9. As far as losing weight goes, 90% of that will be your diet. Do you have your diet in check? As far as getting stronger goes, I agree with Ryan Sannar - start out with the most very basic variations of the movements in Convict Conditioning. Strength training twice per week should be fine for right now. You're a beginner, and you need to get used to the movements and learn how to do them properly before you can start exercising every day! Supplement CC with a steady dosage of regular activity. You said you ride your bike to work - that's fantastic. If possible, supplement that with a walk every day, and you should be well on your way. If you're not motivated to work out at home, it might be because you're distracted. Do you have a dedicated space cleared out in which you can exercise? If not, can you make one?
  10. I'm sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. I can't offer you much advice, but I'll give you what I have. I know it can be difficult to believe, but things will get better. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not next week, maybe not even this month, but in the long run, things will get better. Try to make every day just a little bit better than the last. Baby steps are what's important in the long run. I know you feel unhappy, but you can change that, absolutely. Happiness is a choice. You can tell yourself you're happy over and over, and sooner or later, you'll start to believe it. I have depression, and every day I tell myself I'm happy, awesome, and overall, life is good. It doesn't mean I bottle up my emotions. I just try to be the best version of me possible. Ultimately, happiness and motivation are intrinsically driven. You need to find your own reasons to keep fit. Don't do it for anybody but you. One of my favorite quotes of all time goes like this: "The indispensable first step in getting what you want is this: decide what you want." You gotta decide what you truly want out of life, and do whatever it takes to get there. Run when you can, walk if you have to, crawl if you must, but someday you will get there. I'm sorry if this is all sort of vague, but I hope it's at least one step in the right direction, and I really hope that things start to look up for you. Best of luck, my friend.
  11. Pretty much this. Also look into Intermittent Fasting. Good resources include MarksDailyApple.com, FreeTheAnimal.com, EatSTOPEat.com, and LeanGains.com. IF is an amazing tool for fat loss.
  12. Kale, spinach, and other leafy greens. Get 'em in a pan, heat it up, then pour your eggs over 'em.
  13. I love badminton. Ain't played in a long time, but it's tons of fun.
  14. Awesome idea. Warrior's Guild: Rebel logo with an axe going up the center Ranger's Guid: Rebel logo with an infinity symbol in the center (that's a stretch, but I can't think of anything else that makes the "jack of all trades" implication Assassin's Guild: Duh! Rebel logo mixed with the Assassin's Creed logo! Martial Arts Guild: Rebel logo mixed with the fighting type Pokemon logo Druid's Guild: Rebel logo with a Namaste symbol on top Scout's Guild: Rebel logo combined with the silhouette of a running man Those are my ideas. I wish I had the Photoshop skillz to put together some mock ups.
  15. This looks fantastic. I wish I had an outdoor area like this near my place. Unfortunately, parks in my area are ill-equipped to handle dips and pull-ups.
  16. Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein is the man. Oh, you guys were talking about something else :C
  17. I hate it when people say "fail." I also hate "epic," and I hate any combination of the two. Same goes for "win."
  18. I don't see a major problem with any of this. If it's gone, it's gone. There are still plenty of places to discuss topics pertaining to masculinity, like the Off-Topic board, or the general fitness board. I think people are just as likely to help out there as they would be if the Guild still existed. My assumption would be that the women's guild still exists because even though this is an all-inclusive forum, the online presence of males, especially in fitness communities, tends to be higher than the presence of females, effectively creating a largely male bias overall. That's just my 2c, though.
  19. Full time Anthropology student and employee at Whole Foods Market. I work the cheese counter.
