  1. Is today the 20th or the 21st? I hate overnights in a row when they mess with the date. We'll call it the 20/21st, then. Calories good. Tried one forkful of sweet potato pie and ended up with a monstrous migraine -- yet one more reason to stay away from ANYTHING carb heavy, holy god. It's been a while since the last bad one, but this one was... I slept most of the day to kill it, but the dregs of it are still rocketing around in my skull. Good news: the scale says 276.4. Better news: Nothing fits right. And by 'right', I mean, everything is super loose. Went shopping, and it turns out that I dropped two sizes, and that one was not as tight as it could have been. Best news: I feel good. I have collarbones! My rings are super loose, loose enough they fall off sometimes. Not so good news: My "support" is pushing for me to do the medical very low calorie diet again, insisting that rapid weightloss is the best, etc, etc. Of course, this is the same "Support" that thinks a "healthy" breakfast is two pieces of toast and a bowl of cheerios-- and that the idea of low-carb/high-protein/good fat is too complicated to work out. I have five more weeks before I'm even eligible for the medical diet again -- and frankly, I'm really iffy about it now. Rapid results are great... but not when they leave you feeling like poop. I keep using that excuse to put them off, so for now I'm safe.
  2. 12/19/11 Had random cake craving, so I pseudo-adjusted a mug cake recipe to paleo. 4 tbsp almond flour 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa 2 packets stevia pinch each: ground cardamom, cloves, ginger, cinnamon 1 egg 3 tbsp half and half 3 tbsp coconut oil Mix in mug and nuke for three to four and a half minutes. I know the stevia isn't precisely protocol, but it kept me from chewing off my own wrist, and it's only 329 calories and 15g of carbs to 25g fat and 15g protein. I'm sure the protein could be upped by adding chopped nuts of choice, if one wanted. It's rather ugly looking, but the taste is somewhere between chocolate and spice cake, and rather fudgy. I may try less oil and/or less egg the next time. Otherwise: Calories good, protein above and beyond, carbs super low. Lots of walking, plus squatting to pick up things that were dropped, and heavy lifting of the BRAND NEW 4qt cast iron braiser, which is super heavy. Carried it way more than I had to, too. << Tomorrow: More shopping, this time for ingredients to a pseudo-beef stew. Already have the bottom round roast defrosting in cubes. //edit Oof. Next time, I will totally half the recipe.
  3. You have made my day, and probably my father's month. We don't do lamb often. xD Thank you!
  4. 12/17/11 Too high on the calories, but the protein was spot on. I think I'm getting the hang of this, if only because I seem to be feeling about 100% better. None of the nasty, scary moodswings on the low-fat low-carb diet are showing up again. Exercise was a lot of walking, and work was standing (and barefoot) with a couple of squat workouts and some lifting. 12/18/11 Better on the calories, worse on the protein -- why is it I can only get one out of the two? Going to try some crockpot cooking this week-- maybe if I get everything in a bowl or two, it'll all work out better. Plans for today include walking all of the bigger mall in town, plus extensive shopping.
  5. Haha, speaking of lamb, it's on sale come sunday. xD I'll be there, don't worry-- unless you want to share a good recipe? :D ?
  6. Huh. Well, that's uplifting, actually. xD Hahaha, yes, the happier is probable! Nothing like going from a restricted diet of restriction to awesomeness, and actually enjoying exercise.
  7. << 25 year old female. Actually. Does that make a difference? (Apparently I look really good lately, since my boss's boss told me I've 'lit up' lately? I don't even know what that means.)
  8. 12/16/11 VICTORY! 1600 calories, 55g of carbs, 120g of protein, thank you god. I "split" my breakfast into pieces, which made it easier to cram more protein in there, somehow. Plus, there was walking and walking and walking, plus running up and down the stairs a million zillion times. Did interval-ish-ness on the poor reclaimed stationary bike. Butt hurts. :/ I was carrying a lot of bags today, too, so my shoulders are achey as an added bonus. Tomorrow is also more activity day-- I have to shop for an upcoming trip(!!!), food, and paper goods for my dad's trip. Didn't freak at the scale, totally not hungry.
  9. At this point, yeah. My 'breakfast' is more like a collection of snacks eaten before noon, but it seems to be getting better. I actually managed to make 1600 calories today, but that might also have been because I was running around -- I did the flea market at speed, and THEN I went and shopped. More activity than normal, I think, which argues interesting things.
  10. I just wanted you to know that someone sent me here as a reference to food modeling/meal blogging/recipes/help-with-wtf-to-eat-to-get-enough-calories. THANK YOU. I already have a bunch of things to try now. <3333 Did you ever post about your shopping habits? How do you refill your fridge? And what is that k-squash thing you keep talking about? Is it good? (I live with one person who is glatt kosher and one person who is a right pain in the ass about new foods. We're springing cauliflower mashed potatos on him tomorrow. <<)
  11. I think the ONLY way I can manage more protein at the moment is finding some kind of protein shake. I feel like I've been eating myself stupid, and I never quite make it up where I need to be, and that's without working out. I think it's conditioning from the VLCD, WW, and all the other random weight-loss attempts I've put myself through. I can say that I'm definitely not hungry between meals, at least -- that's a HUGE bonus atm.
  12. 12/15/11 Still not great on the protein:fat, but carbs are way down. Managed (just) to get up to 1300ish calories.. I'm wondering if all the trouble I've been having with losing weight is compounded between carbs, empty calories in soda, and eating under 1500 calories. Left to myself, I have a really hard time getting above 1300/1400 calories without carbs. The almond butter worked great as a snack, at least, tiding me over until a reasonable hour for dinner. Maybe I'll try snacking more? It's baffling to have to eat more to lose weight. wtf, body. Yoga tonight. Left work early because I was so exhausted. Lost about a half a pound since monday.
  13. 12/14/11 Bah Humbug. Fell behind on the food; under 50g of carbs, but my protein:fat ratios are all out of whack. Tried an alternative to the body-circuit exercise, and phew. Still, I think this may end up replacing it for now, just until I'm at a better level of fitness. I don't think my legs have ever hurt so much! Wall squats, 3 for 30s, 10 girl-pushups twice, and static lateral presses -- lifted off of mark's daily apple, but these are things I can do at work in uniform and not end up in trouble over. Still, it trashed me! Didn't weigh myself today or obsess too much -- that has to be a bonus, right? I wish I had some meal plan/eating ideas, or a template or something. I keep the approved foods list in my purse when I shop, but it's hard all the same to remember what's acceptable and what's not. I might try the chili at work, or see if they can make me nachos without the tortilla chips -- ground beef, cheddar cheese, avacado, sour cream, etc. Bah. I'm getting tired of chicken/beef.
  14. Haha, I stand corrected, though that's what he's called himself a couple of times! If I do go into the weight lifting, I probably will up the calorie intake, but right now I feel like I'm eating way too much, and I don't think I could do anything with the lifting/gyms until at least mid-january, which works out okay with my schedule. About to head out now, but thanks, guys!
