  1. So, it has been approximately 900 years since I've last updated, but I'm still on the case, have just gotten lazy about writing these things. All has been well and I have been more or less doing what I should be (admittedly had scones on one and ice cream on two occasions, but otherwise I've been good.) Lunges and proper push-ups continue to get easier and I'm increasingly growing used to my walks, so there's that!
  2. Week 2, Day 4: Worked out, but am sure I forgot a set of jumping jacks in there somewhere. I'll do an extra 30 on Saturday, just in case. Can't find my notepad right now, but I'm thinking I had about 1600 calories, give or take a few. Must admit I had a cornetto as well, because hey, sunshine for the first time in absolute ages. Week, Day 5: Hours walk, albeit to the pub and back. Ah well. Food: banana (105), chicken burger without bun but with chips (700, rounded up), beef, broccoly cashew one-pot with horseradish mashed potatoes (435)
  3. Week 2, Day 3: Took an 80 minute walk today! Apparently company does help, now the question is just where I'll get consistent company from. Food: Natto Omlette (230), Salmon filet with salad (250) and kicken Korma again (476)
  4. A bunch of very lazy updates are incoming, because I've got a friend over and she's sorta demanding to be entertained. Week 2, Day 2: Workout done, albeit reluctantly today. Food: Bacon (165), Oil (80), Asparagus (25), Banana (105), Mustard (10), Pasta Bake (445) I'm also likely to have an apple before I go to bed later. Incidentally, pro-tip: cover your bananas in mustard, people. You'll never look back.
  5. I am super, super tired, so a short entry for yesterday and today combined. Week 1, Day 7: Trained, like a good fish. Food: butter popcorn (155), Mango (145), 1/2 apple (58), Avocado (163), Nuts (89), Yoghurt (113) and potato salad with homemade burgers (630) Week 2, Day 1: Walked to my client again. Soon to be client less, meaning walking will be considerably less fun. I like going places where I get paid. Food: eggs (142), Bacon (110), Smoothie (181), Summer Veggie Pasta (450), Nuts (89), Mango (145)
  6. Aw, thank you so much! I was just glad it was over by the end to be honest, so this was a very pleasant surprise. As for Fallout, I always sort of forget that Westside exists anyway, but in all my previous playthroughs I'd somehow managed to completely avoid The Thorn. Also a few minor locations around that general area. Week 1, Day 6: I am a tired fish today, and for no real reason either. Weather was horrible, but I managed to take my first walk without actually having anywhere in particular to go to. Listened to a half-hour lecture on french colonization while I went, so I suppose I could have spent the time worse. Keep eying my thighs in mirrors today, going "wait, I believe there used to be more of you guys", so that's something. Food: Set Natural Yoghurt (113) with a tablespoon of chopped mixed nuts (89) for breakfast, baked half-avocado (163) with egg (70) and half a slice of Edam (35) for lunch and Pork and Peanut red Thai curry (790), which was freaking amazing by the way, for dinner. Also liked the spoon after I finished adding peanut butter to my curry (67). Total: 1327
  7. Week 1, Day 5: Already dressed for the workout and will get to it once I've typed up this entry. Food: Half a can of tuna (56kcal), an avocado (306), two teaspoons of mayo (69), a tin of mackerel in sunflower oil (235), fried egg noodles with vegetables (260), 2 tomatoes (54), some natural yoghurt with almond flakes (193) and a slice of chorizo (23) Total: 1196kcal Not only do I need to eat more vegetables, I also need to eat less fish. So I'll try to avoid it (if I can) until this time next week. Nothing much interesting happened today. Successfully avoided responsibilities and managed to read up to chapter 20 of my book.
  8. Week 1, Day 4: Is it just me or this this going super quickly? Can't quite believe we're on day four already. Took my walk (by which I mean, I went on foot to see a client and then walked a slightly longer way home. Will have been about 40 minutes total, so I am absolutely counting it). Food, since I don't plan to eat anything else today: More asparagus with eggs (296kcal), Mackerel in brine for a change (200), some tofu (40), some chorizo (40) and a good portion of home-made chicken korma for dinner (633). That's 1209kcal for today. I think I should eat more vegetables. Finally found the motivation to sit down and read today! About 200 pages in, and man. Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is the most English thing that has ever Englished, and I've gotta say, after 6-ish years of living in this country I appreciate it a whole lot more than I did the first time I read it. Still, English or not, I'd recommend this book to everyone who's willing to listen. Long sit, but very readable and full of entertaining little tidbits as well as thoroughly likeable, flawed and sometimes awful people. Also, magic.
  9. Week 1, Day 3: Been a good fish and have reluctantly completed my workout. Bit in a hurry tonight, because I still have some work to complete before I can go to bed, so no random rambling today. Food: Soft-boiled eggs with roasted asparagus for breakfast (246kcal), more mackerel in chili dressing (370kcal), 1 small banana (90kcal), Reisfleisch which is literally rice and meat cooked together with spices (402), 1 slice of edam and 1 slice of wafer thin beef (104), and 2 medium bananas (210). Total kcal for today - 1422.
  10. Week 1, Day 2: Walked for 45 minutes to pick up my new pair of glasses at the optician's. Might have gotten myself a referral to the doc because apparently the pressure inside my eyes is a bit high? I'm not concerned at all though, to be honest. Had the same thing happen last time I got a new pair, and everything was fine. Also discovered a sort of....adult playground thing on my way to the opticians? Must investigate further one of those days, it certainly looked rather interesting. Today's food was: 1 Tin of Mackerel in a chili dressing (370kcal), 1 medium Banana (105kcal), some roasted broccoli in chili oil (161kcal). Fried potatoes with eggs and bacon (364kcal), a small apple (95kcal, ish), 1 handful of salty popcorn (103 kcal, ish). So I had about 1198kcal today, give or take a few. Could snack, but really, it's late and I'm not hungry enough for that. I'll be looking forward to breakfast tomorrow instead. In other news, I got my results from university today. This fish is somehow graduating with first class honours in media studies, and is very pleased with herself (there was a lot of screaming and I very nearly got some celebratory cider. Because really. But then I thought hey, it's only the second day of the challenge, I can celebrate at my graduation this September). Not much progress on my book, because frankly, if I sit down long enough to read I'll fall asleep instantly. However! Managed to find an area in New Vegas I'd somehow never been to before (which at 600-odd hours clocked in on steam is a touch impressive, I would say) and plan to spend the rest of my evening investigating.
  11. Groot nods along in silent approval, I would say. : ) When we still had dogs, they used to do the exact same thing. Lovely puppies, gentle, but always so excited to get places they weren't prepared to wait for the person attached to them to get there at a more leisurely pace. The lady puppy got a bit better about it once her companion was getting a bit too old to pull all the time. He was such a bad influence, apparently. Good luck with your first week!
  12. Ahhh, thank you for your replies, everyone! I hope you're all having a great first challenge week as well. Those are some really good suggestions! There are a few playgrounds around me, actually, so I might have a look at them throughout the week. AS for the stories, well. I used to write occasionally when I had more time (and motivation). Nothing grand, mainly just stuff to keep myself entertained. Might be good to record some ideas or thoughts and feelings as I go along. Just a very lovely dress, given to me by a very lovely lady who'd worn it once and then also lost rather a lot of weight and now doesn't quite fit into it anymore. So I think it'll be a good dress to use as a benchmark. Also hey, it's nice and cool and perfect for the middle of summer (assuming we'll ever see a lick of sunlight over here. oh England). But yeah, that's basically my problem with walking around here. Tiny village, the same 3-4 walkways and crazy drivers on all roads that actually lead anywhere. I remembered I still have some history lectures on Audible I haven't listened to, so I'll try that during my walk today. Hello! :3 Good luck with your endeavors as well. As far as I know she was quite happy with it, thanks. There's still quite a bit left of it, though, so I believe that'll be going into the freezer at some point today. Assuming the family won't eat it in between. As for Fallout, perhaps I stole your aiming skills as well along the way. That would explain why I'm suddenly not awful at sneaking and sniping, after not playing shooters for...2 years? -ish?
  13. To keep myself entertained I'll likely start treating this like a bit of a diary like thing, so expect some thoroughly random rambling in between progress reports. Starting tomorrow I'll also write down everything I'm eating throughout the day, just to keep track. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions regarding what I'm doing, that'd be much appreciated. Week 1, Day 1: Completed the workout with only minor complaining. My lunges are getting better, I believe (I've got quite a bit of inner-ear scar tissue, so my balance is all weird. Half the exercise is me attempting to not fall over very inelegantly), but I'm now getting hella self-conscious about my squats. Should get someone to look at them again, really. Also, I've recently upgraded to proper pushups, after the easy version got too easy. They kinda kill me atm, but so did the easy ones at first, so I'm assuming, yay, progress. Applied for a job today that I will most certainly not get, but hey, at least I tried. Will likely read a bit before I go to bed in a while, but so far my afternoon has belonged to my umpteenth play through of Fallout New Vegas. I'm still reeling about from the Fallout 4 announcement (and from seeing Mad Max Fury Road only a few days ago. I live, I die, I LIVE AGAIN), so I'm in a very wasteland-y sorta mood.Playing on hardcore for the first time, and finding it surprisingly easy? My aim appears to have gotten better as well. Overall I'm fairly pleased.
  14. To a successful 6 weeks! *toasts you with green tea* I'm sure you'll do great!
  15. Hi! Maybe we can find an accountability group together in a while That's an idea, I'll just have to be a bit creative so I don't run out of things to walk to around here. After a while everything vaguely interesting sorta turns into incredibly narrow roads with lorry drivers who seem ambitious to become daredevils one day. Maybe I'll take my camera, though, to keep myself entertained. So, now off to bake and eat my last cake for a month and a half
