  1. It went well. I could have done better but I am now more prepared for this week.
  2. Just got signed up. Shooting for titanium. My mileage will be mostly walking but I will also be doing some running.
  3. I went in to the dentitst for a tooth ache. Turns out I need a root canal. My dentist referred me to someone else who can't get me in for two weeks. So my dentist told me to do the tylenol and ibuprofen daily rotation until I can get the root canal done. Now I am not one of those that listens to everything my doctor tells me. I am not ragging on doctors or anything but they are human and just like any other profession you got your good eggs and your bad ones. I tend to always research anything my medical professionals tell me. There is a lot of research out there that supports the idea of liver damage caused by these drugs (especially tylenol). Now most the stuff I read suggests that you have to take either more than the recommended single dose or more than the recommended daily dose or both in order to cause damage. But some reports say that there are people that have ended up with liver damage just by taking the max recommended dose. Though in a lot of these cases people were taking the medicine for much longer than two weeks. In the past I have never had issues with either drug. But I have never taken them for more than 3 or 4 days. Now I am being asked to take both daily for two weeks straight. I was researching some more natural, herbal remedies. I found one called feverfew that is supposed to be good for tooth aches. Of course no place around me carries it so I would have to order it online. Has anyone ever used feverfew? If so how well did it work? Does anyone have any other thoughts or suggestions? Am I just being worry wart?
  4. Mini challenge 1 completed.
  5. I am currently reading "The Intolerance of Tolerance" by D.A. Carson. I just started it so I can't offer a review of it yet.
  6. Introduction: Hi I am nerdgettingfit and this is my first challenge. I enjoy computers, video games, anything zombie, and getting outside from time to time. I am a network administrator but I am trying to increase my programming skills. I first joined the Nerd Fitness Academy two weeks ago. I then stumbled upon the rebellion a week later. I am super amped about combining my academy activity with the 6WC here in the rebellion. Main Quest: Get down to 13% bodyfat Quest 1: Strength training 3 times a week using the Nerd Fitness Academy bodyweight workouts. Measurement: A = 17-18 workouts, B = 15-16 workouts C = 13-14 workouts, D = 11-12 workouts Quest 2: Walk or jog on the non-strength training days for at least 30 minutes. Measurement: A = 22-24 workouts, B = 19-21 workouts, C = 16-18 workouts, D = 13-15 workouts Quest 3: Intermittent fasting from 8pm to Noon Mon-Fri (I want to be able to have breakfast with my kids on the weekends). Measurement: A = 27-30 days, B = 24-26 days, C = 21-23 days, D = 18-20 days Life Quest: Spend 30 minutes a day working on my web development skills (I want to have a website up and running by the end of this challenge) Measurement: A = 38-42 days with website up , B = 33-37 days, C = 28-32 days, D = 23-27 days Motivation: I want to be able to play with my kids without getting tired. I want to look good naked and I want my wife to think I look good naked!
  7. I noticed in this thread you said: "Therefore, you have the possibility of starting your second challenge, at Level 2 with 14 attribute points." But in the Recruit > L1 Guide Book it says: "Allocate attribute points (optional). At the end of week 3 you will be able to allocate 10 of those points to yourself based on what you've learnt and at the end of 6WC you will be able to attribute the final 5 points and level up." So do we potentially get 15 points or 14 points after our first 6WC?
  8. Is anyone going to Wizard World Comic Con next month in Des Moines?
  9. I live in Winterset and I work in Creston.
  10. A year ago I decided I was going to be healthier and in better shape in my 30's than I was in my 20's. Well I entered my 30's on April 30th of this year. I was at my highest weight ever (227.4lbs). I was in the US Army for six years and that helped me to maintain my weight. I generally fluctuated between 184 and 194. During my last year in the army I stopped exercising as much and ate even crappier. When I got out of the army in 2013 I just started getting bigger. I topped out at 225 in May of 2014. I decided I wanted to lose weight so I counted calories and started working out (mostly running with some body weight exercises). I got back down to 197. I was feeling good but then I went on a one week family vacation and derailed myself. It was as if my mind completely reset itself and suddenly I was back to the old me with the same old bad habits. So now I have gained all the weight back (+2.4 lbs). I want to be a good example for my children. I am tired of getting worn out from playing with them for just a few minutes. I want my son to view me as a warrior and my daughter to view me as her hero. How can I be a warrior or a hero if I get out of breath after a few minutes of activity? Finally, I want an awesome body for my wife to enjoy. She is a great mother and wife. She deserves the best in life so I want to give her the best of me. To help me with my goals I have joined the NerdFitness Academy and I am going to be joining in on the 6-week challenges. Hopefully I will see you out there. Happy questing!
