  1. Alright. 10th anniversary. Almost my 3rd anniversary of officially using the forums. I think it's time for a name change. I'm in the middle of an outlook change, and adjusting how I look at fitness as a whole, so it seems only appropriate that I lean into the whole change concept. Change is good. Unless it's a lot of pennies, then its great if you've got a sock and a serious need for self defense. But in this case, change for me is how I perceive and interact with the world. I've always had a very live and let live stance with life at large, and it's been pretty good so far. But I have come to realize, as grimble gets older and smarter and more aware of whats going on, that I cannot set that example for her. I'm intelligent, and clever, and been able to succeed on those traits alone, but hot diggity has had its bumps, most of them self generated because I couldn't be bothered to exert the effort. To that end, this challenge will have some changes to how I have done things in the past. I will still track my workouts, especially now that I am back in the gym 4-5 days a week, but instead of just commenting on how intense this session was, or how much this new PR is, I will instead try to explain how the workout has affected me. I will talk about what changes I see in, not just my body, but my mindset about fitness. Personal outlook will be similar. I've always been very metric based in my goals, and I've finally figured out that giving me a numerical or mechanically measurable goal is a good way for me to fail, I'm going to get a little more esoteric. I'm going to divulge some of what has made me tick in what I do. One of those things will be how I speak to people. Puns will always be in my heart, and probably in most of my conversations, but I need to be able to provide the vocal side of a conversation in a meaningful way, so a lot of what I will talk about is how an interaction went because of how I handled it. Be more cognizant of my impact. A perfect example is this thread, I let it hang for over a week because I was too busy to want to sit in front of a computer after work and talk to some of the best ones and zeros I've ever met. I will probably apologize more as I work on my social IQ. It's not meant as an 'accept my apology because I did it' but more of a 'be cognizant of my apology because I am working on myself' response. And finally, I will really lean into what I have adopted as my new signature, Do Good. I will talk about something good I did, or something good I did not do that I could have. It's all part of being more self aware and frankly, I have definitely needed some self awareness over the last few months. And I will enjoy this process here with all of you. Without Nerd Fitness, I don't think I would have been able to develop the introspection to get myself to where I am today. So, thank you and Do Good.
  2. You had to quote that? It's bad enough I didn't pay attention to the thumbnail. Now I get multiples. It isn't, but I didn't want to invade your shoulders week. Which is very good.
  3. Jumping in to the wrong week, but bonus round is up!
  4. Why does weird have to mean bad? Fun notes on my frog stretch. My legs were almost parallel when i started a last month. I can almost get them to 45 and all the way to child's pose. It's satisfying. Need to prep for big things coming soon.
  5. Never. Are you going to be working in a specific program or is it more a "Go to the gym and do at least two or three of these at each visit"?
  6. An owlverhead press, mayhaps?
  7. That seems a pretty hollow comparison. Welcome back @GodzillaKong! 😁
  8. I mean, I don't give a hoot personally, but the clarification is still important. What if he asks for a form check and we give him suggestions based on being a human? We'd pluck success from him before he even got going.
  9. Please tell me you meant mince pies and are not secretly 4 owls in a trench coat.
  10. I am continuously surprised by how interconnected everything is. I was doing some shoulder mobility, and my right shoulder was pulling on my left pectoral muscle, right near my solar plexus. My only thought is how my biceps tendon was reattached as two separate pieces to bone during surgery that could cause it. Bodies are weird.
  11. It's entirely possible. I occasionally have right knee pain because my hips were so immobile. I've played around enough that I've been able to correlate the two pretty tightly together. Since I've really focused on opening up my hip mobility that pain is almost non-existent, even on days where it would have been before.
  12. You got this. I shall suffer right along with you. *stares longingly at donuts in the break room*

*ahem* HERE YE. HERE YE. I'm here to spread the word. The Warriors are doing a mobility mini for the duration of this challenge. We'd love to come by and stay a stretch. It is self tracked and mostly about the learning rather than the competition. We wouldn't want to overreach on this challenge. Hope to see you there!

  20. We'll get there! You'd be surprised (I sure as hell was) how much of your knee tightness is actually hip tightness. For now, stick with the back stuff for the purposes of this mini.
  21. That's a mindset problem. You're not doing bodyweight stuff. You're doing weightlifting preperatory/recovery stuff. It's best if you have a flexible timetable. One of the few things I would HEAVILY recommend having at home. They are one of the few accessories that get used by everyone in the house.
  22. Seriously. I have started picking my audiobooks by narrator and may have way too many that are Nick Podehl, Michael Kramer and/or Kate Reading.
  23. Advanced Placement. It's supposed to be the college prep classes.
  24. Currently listening to the Audiobook of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I am enjoying it far more than i expected to. May have something to do with Jim Dale narrating.
