  1. I have never ever managed to eat a whole olive without spitting it out. Trying an italian resturant I got reccomended by a hot girl who works as a chef there, I gave it another go. Im not sure I would say I liked it, but it was the first time it really did anything other then wanting to get it out of my mouth. Combined with fresh tomatoes, a really good Riesling, and some meats and cheese I ate several olives. The tastes was almost like I remembered, but again different. The combination with the other flavours, and usually bitter that tasted just a tad sweeter, the just so ever slighly more flavourful taste made it into something that might be a step on the way to enjoy olives in the future. Same procedure with mushrooms. Never managed them as a child, but having some really good homemade creamy mushroom stew made me into liking them alot
  2. So, quick update before throwing on 8 pounds of meat for BBQ, and consume loads of beer! No strenghttraining, but two long hikes so far this week. One of them in combination with my first outdoor sleepover for about 15 years. Went hammocking, and found out a light sleeping bag, small quilt, survival blanket and a thick sleeping pad was not enough for a Norwegian "summer". Shivered through the night without a minute of sleep, but have an underquilt in the mail now, as well as bug net, so there will be more #microadventures in the near future. Meditation have gone well. 15 min every day for a month now. Only two days missed for close to two and a half month. Weight is plateaued for now, but with everything going on with vacation I havent pushed it too much. Still 8kgs down from where I started, so that is good Enjoy the summer. I know I will
  3. So, still going strong. Went home to parents place for a birthday celebration, but logged strenght training before I left, and a 3 hour hike to a hill (1250moh) I have not visited for over 18 years. Should be good enough for workours. A lot of food and cake with the celebration, but still managed to lose some weight all in all the last week, and have kept up sleep and meditation, so I guess phase one is complete!
  4. So day 7 update. Since my buddy had a little backpain, we changed it up, so two cardio (hiking trips) and one strengh-session, but that is still good. Sleep have gone well, eating have been decent most of the time. Crossed 25k steps today, with over 20k on a single hike. Nice trip
  5. 12k to, at and from walk. The hike was just 8k, but it was still nice.
  6. Loads of sleep tonight, and logged 20k steps yesterday as I went for a hike in the woods with three friends. So far, so good. Tonight is "off" from workours, goals etc. We have a summerparty at work, so time to get my knitted tie and have a few bottles of homemade wheat beer! (Would not do good to finish my weight goal in week 2 )
  7. Thanks! So, ready for day three now. Got good sleep, already finished with my meditation, beans and lentils have been soaking and are ready for boiling. I wonder if the dried ones will be better then the canned ones. Going good so far. Just have to be ready for the bumps. (Btw, I "cheated" on the weight stuff, and started earlier then the challenge, so half way through my goal already
  8. Takker So far I like it quite well. Im not sure how well I am doing, but hopefully that will come with time. On day 18 now. I ended up buying a subscription, but you get the 10 days free for trying it out, so go ahead
  9. So, quick update on day 1. Got closer to eight hours of sleep, tho some of it was a bit restless. Woke up a couple of times. Might have been the tea for dinner sunday. Ive been trying not to have too much caffein after noon. Got workout planned with my buddy tomorrow (and did it yesterday as well), and had home made chicken salad with beans and lentils for breakfast/lunch/dinner today. Made a big batch as I had to get some shopping done after work etc. Got a some power tools for homebrewing and dried beans and lentils instead of just some canned stuff. Ive found out I might travel some during the last part of the challenge, so working out with a buddy might be difficult, but if we manage 3 times a week untill that time, and I manage to do some solo workouts, or just loads of walking on vacaion (I keep track with fitbit) that should cover that part.
  10. So, newbie here, but considering what Ive been doing lately I ended up here instead of in the Recruits (hope that is ok). Norwegian, just turned 30, and I really have to get my life in order if I expect to be 40. Goals: I weighed in at 172kg (380lbs) not long ago. I was around 160-164 at christmas, but being ill with the flu for 5 weeks in January, and not really being able to work out or be active for a few more weeks my weight went up. For this 6 week challenge, I want to get back to 2014, down to 160kg. Ive also started meditating, and Im on day 13 with the headspace app, so keeping that up as well will be good. I have struggled with depression on and off for about 10 years, and I really notice my weight increasing when I am depressed. Getting better mental stability will hopefully give me a much better chance to improve my health, therefore druid. Goal 1: Greens and veggies for each dinner (either as main food, but at least not just pure meat) (Some meals are not of my own making/choosing, so 4-5 dinners a week will be a big improvement over the BBQ slice of meat till I cant move that I have done before) Goal 2: Strenght training with a buddy 2 times per week (We might do some cardio etc as well, but some basic squats, deadlifts, bench etc, also, life happens, so happy with at least 10 out of the 12 over 6 weeks) Goal 3: Meditation every day (Started using the headspace-app, and have done 12 days now, and only missed one day, and that day I just really did not have any chance of making it) Goal 4: Improving sleep by getting 7 hours per day (Started working on this a few months ago and it is going well. As with everything else, stuff happens, but as long as Im not more then 30 mins off more then twice per week Im happy) Life side quest: Stop buying too much stuff I dont need from places like massdrop and ebay, and put more money away to renovate my dream house. (too vague, but I need some time to define it properly) So, this is me starting out. Ive been reading nerdfitness for a while (year or more?), but its never really been the time to begin (heard that one before have you?), so now I just had to get started. Im in quite decent shape considering my weight, but I need to do something quick before it falls apart. Ive been considering getting started with yoga as well, but I need to take things step by step so I wont be overwhelmed and just quit everything.
  11. headspace has a free take 10 program that can get you started. Its an app at least for Android, but I would guess in iOS too. Also in your browser. It got be hooked
  12. For those with large wrists, FitBit are making XL wristbands (for the Flex at least), and you can petition them for one if you already have a Flex and the Large wristband is too small. Ive broken two so far.
  13. Too much air in my stomach, leg press and loud farting. Hurrah!
