  1. Random sporadic check in to prove that I'm not dead! 1. Yoga - Attend a weekly yoga class to help reduce tension and regain mobility in back/shoulders. Heavy modifications as necessary to minimize pain in wrists/shoulders. Complete for this week! It was a really great class and even though my shoulders were sore, I didn't get any migraines the day after, so I'm calling it a win. 2. Reduce clutter - Twice a week, find one spot in the house and declutter. "Spot" means a space that is at least one foot by one foot. It can be anywhere in the house that strikes my fancy The offspring was sick last week and it feels like we're still playing catch up after all of it. Nothing decluttered so far this week. 3. Journal - Write down one thing I want to remember and one thing I don't want to remember but probably should remember because it builds character. Do this everyday to make up for faulty short term to long term memory dump. This has really fallen by the wayside. I did well the first week(ish) but haven't kept it up. I'll keep trying!
  2. Journal Day 5- I need to remember to that rambling around the internet may seem like fun but it's actually just gathering underpants. The internet is awesome tool but also a black hole. Do I really need to spent my limited energy reserves on reading about other people's issues, instead of paying attention to and fixing mine? I don't want to remember that I spent a good portion of my work day locked into watching youtubers talk about nail polish. I still have a hard time digging myself out of distractions, even with meds, so it really just comes down to not letting myself get distracted by things on the internet. If I need a break, I can take a walk or go talk to a coworker.
  3. Journal Day 4- I want to remember the delicious and hilarious birthday lunch I had with my coworkers yesterday, where they told stories about trying to keep the magic of Santa and the Tooth Fairy alive for their kids. I don't want to remember that my vision check up showed only slow progress for vision therapy, because it makes me feel like a failure. However, I know the problem isn't that I'm failing, because I'm not, it's that my progress is slower than I'd like. I need to give myself room to progress at my own pace - vision issues are tough to fix and if I push myself too fast, I'll just end up with migraines.
  4. I really like your goals and that you prioritized going to the gym in your life by scheduling it for specific days. That makes a huge difference!
  5. As someone who has sprained each ankle at least a dozen times, I can attest that they're easy to sprain and SUPER easy to re-sprain later on. Walking will help and make sure you're wearing supportive shoes for everything, including weight lifting. I actually used Converse high tops when I was lifting to keep my ankles stable. Good luck on your goals!
  6. Being mindful of meals is a great goal as mindfulness improves cognitive function!
  7. These are great quests! Daily meditation is a goal for me as well. I wish you luck!
  8. These are great goals! I would suggest scheduling yoga two nights a week instead of vaguely telling yourself you'll do it twice this week. You can always reschedule if a night doesn't work out!
  9. Day four update: 1. Yoga - Attend a weekly yoga class to help reduce tension and regain mobility in back/shoulders. Heavy modifications as necessary to minimize pain in wrists/shoulders. Signed up for yoga on Tuesdays which starts next week. Dragging a yoga-newbie coworker with me as an accountibilibuddy. In the meantime, planning to do stretching for 30 minutes everyday to try and loosen up my shoulders/midback, which are my biggest problem areas at the moment. 2. Reduce clutter - Twice a week, find one spot in the house and declutter. "Spot" means a space that is at least one foot by one foot. It can be anywhere in the house that strikes my fancy So far, decluttered the counter and the kitchen table! Already done for the week, whoo! 3. Journal - Write down one thing I want to remember and one thing I don't want to remember but probably should remember because it builds character. Do this everyday to make up for faulty short term to long term memory dump. I have a new planner called The Perfect Notebook, so I'm using that as a pseudo journal. I've also only done this one day so far this week. Day three: I want to remember that today I learned a neat trick with SQL case statements. I don't want to remember that really awkward meeting I had because of a late project, but it's important to learn from it anyway. No matter how obnoxious they were about the outcomes of the project, it's important to remember that it's driven by their love of what they do.
  10. Thanks for the feedback! And yes, it is WoT inspired. It's been my go-to username since I was 13 and was inspired by a mutual love of the original Sailor Moon anime and WoT (what a combination!).
  11. It's good to know I'm not alone! Thank you for the app suggestions - I'll check them out
  12. Hi, I'm Brittany. I previously tried to complete challenges as a Rebel and quests as an Assassin and couldn't keep up with either. I was diagnosed as an adult with ADHD and hooboy, is it ever in charge. I'm floundering on day-to-day stuff and it seems like what I really need is to be able to better balance myself. There is a lot of data supporting mindfulness and meditation as a tool in the toolbox for controlling ADHD symptoms so I'm really hoping this works! A little about me: By day, I work in data analytics and by night, I wrangle a toddler, a husband and two cats. At 32, I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but "barely keeping my head above water" ain't it. 1. I would also like to start a meditation habit and welcome any tips/apps/Youtube channels that have helped others build their own habits.
  13. Omg it is I love the internet 4eva yaaaas
  14. You could totally do, like Sailor Jedi. That's a thing, right?
  15. These are great goals! I just found out about the Michigan Iron Belle Trail initiative the other day, which your goals reminded me of. It doesn't actually include our only National Park, Isle Royale, but it does go through several National Forests and sounds amazing. Good luck on your journey!
  16. I don't know how much I can do from Michigan but you have my axe! Legit, I'm 100% with you on the cough drops and ice water. I finally finished off my bottle of postpartum 800mg motrin - I will miss that prescription. It was my favorite.
  17. Grand Rapids here! Definitely up for a hiking buddy in the new season.
  18. Hahaha, it's been two and half weeks where did the time gooooooo wtf. This is my Week ~mumble~ check-in. Just a general check in while I get my brains together. 1) Water cat - 2x aquafit classes and GO EASY. I think this class is on hold for the foreseeable future. Not because it's not offered but just because things have been so off-kilter this month. 2) Long cat - PT stretches, 10 minutes, 2x day - everyday 1 star! This has been helping so much, I love it. 3) Cash cat - get money for the phone bill Friend voluntarly offered to give me twice as much as I asked for starting this week, in order to pay off his stuff first. This is the first time he's offered and I jumped on it, obviously. I'm excited! 1 star 4) Roomba cat - 5 minutes of cleaning before bed, minimum + document what I did Haven't documented and got out of the habit of doing some before bed cleaning but I've been trying to get better. I've done it so far everyday this week, so yay. 1 star 5) Editing cat - just do some editing. Any editing. Bahahaha...haha...haaaaaa
  19. Hi there - just checking in to see how it's going. It looks like you were doing great so I'm interested in an update!
  20. I don't know what this cold is but I have it and The Husband has it and one of our roommates has been to urgent care three times because it's just wicked. Kudos to you for still reaching for your goals!
  21. You're doing great! Having some chocolate every so often instead of every day is ultimately what you need to aim for. It is possible to have withdrawal symptoms with food, especially sweets, as they trigger dopamine release, which makes you happy. You can get your brain off it and teach it that it can get it's happy elsewhere but it takes a lot of effort. Keep it up! For strength training, there are many, many different schools of thought. Fewer reps at a higher weight is totally a thing! I would be careful about "jerking" - you could risk tearing a muscle. The best way to develop muscles is control - when you focus on controlling the motion, you activate the large muscles AND the small, stabilizer muscles. Finding it easier with your right hand is also a thing - try working on getting your left arm so that it works as well as the right. It seems like you've been doing good, consistent work with your modules! A day off every now and then isn't terrible. Caaaarpet, aaagh. I'm pushing to have all of my carpet replaced with either tile or laminate because eff carpet. I'm at work so I can look up gifs but this is the place where I'd insert a cute Happy "Aye sir!" gif. You've earned it!
  22. You made it back and are still fighting! You're doing great. (There's no such thing as too many FT gifs. It's such a gif-able show!) Welcome back! We're cheering for you!
  23. Done and done, hahaha. I cannot WAIT to see pictures of your wedding, omg. I think I'm more excited for that than I am for the offspring's first birthday.
  24. I totally sympathize with you on having to reduce physical training for physical therapy - being broken sucks! It looks like you're making good progress - keep it up, fellow PT friend!
  25. Welcome back! Waiting until the car was fixed to start a new challenge is legit - stupid vehicles. I'm super happy for you guys and your Star Wars wedding. My greatest disappointment as a parent is that the offspring waited a DAY to be born and is not a May 4 baby. I will remind her of this disappointment for the rest of her life (because that's how you raise a functional adult). Here's an early wedding present! Congrats to all three of you - it's wonderful!
