  1. So, according to Screw Attack's Death Battle (https://www.***youtube.com/watch?v=mIyB6B0uYHg at 3:45 [remove stars before youtube if you want to watch it]), Batman can bench press 1000 lbs (almost 300 more than the current world record). But his leg press is listed as 2500 lbs, which world record holders can do full sets of. So, what gives Bats?
  2. Yeah, I'm just getting back into the gym, and my core is super weak. My legs seem to be able to take squats just fine, but I'm wiggly enough to feel some soreness in the back. I'm careful to do any exercise that might hurt my back with weak at the beginning, after stretching. Still, I get sore and drive home with the seat heater on... in 100 degree heat... I'm working on getting my core back into shape, but I know if I miss the gym for over a month due to serious back injury, I may never get back on this horse. Less "I know what will help" post and more of a "I feel you", but I hope it's at least encouraging to know you're not the only one.
  3. Feel free to spread those around. I just want a cut off wherever money is made on merchandising.
  4. Yeah, my best given the Tea aspect.
  5. Thank you all for the prompt and sincere replies. I don't expect quick gains on an easy path, but it's good to know I'll be on a path tread by good people, who remember the struggle.
  6. As far as work on them, I've tried to avoid directly working the shoulders in an attempt to avoid injury. Maybe not the best idea, but when I jumped on them today, I was met with stinging resistance, snapping tendons rubbing across muscles, and throbbing after. Granted, I'm early in my reintegration into lifting, but I'm trying to avoid early shoulder-induced death.
  7. Khal-Sleezy Smitten Mitten Uruk-Chai Knit Bit Ole G Wan Darth Shawl I dunno. Any good leads?
  8. So, whilst lifting recently, my shoulders have become more and more of an issue. While I try to push the limit, I know that, if I get injured, my quest to return you shape will die as quickly as Alderon after the Death Star showed up. Quick background: I was once in decent shape. I even did the Army thing. But I got injured in Basic training (twisted shoulder that I'm pretty sure popped a tendon). I went immediately from Basic to Airborne school where chin ups are done at least 50 per day (chin ups being, as I understand, under hand grip, bicep/shoulder/back workout). The pain got so bad that I literally couldn't force my arms together behind my back at "parade rest" (hands together at the small of the back, arms bent slightly). Due to reasons that don't bear on the story, I couldn't quit to get time to rest. Needless to say, the injury got a lot worse before it got better. After plucking my way through the Army til they were sick of me, I reacquainted myself with my couch and basically gave up on physical fitness. Sinew time ago I was diagnosed with arthritis in both of my shoulders, but the old injury was always the worst (besides, the VA diagnosed me, so I take it as advisement more than true diagnoses). Now that I've been back in the gym long enough to be kidding heavy again, my shoulder pain is starting to bother me again. I try to stretch, try to rest and try ibuprofen. The pain is worst in the area under the scapula and around the ball joint. I know that with time I week get strong enough to not have this be such an issue, but I'm not sure the best road to get there. The question is this: have any of you had\have bad joints and how did you build up? By low weight, or high? Many or few reps? Rest until there was no pain in the joint or manageable? I understand that only I know my body, and only I know how it feels. What I ask is, if any of you have gone through similar issues, how did you do it? I'm trying to decide how best to balance weak shoulders with attempts to regain my strength in the rest of my upper body. Final disclosure: I am not pandering for medical advice. I know that, even if some of you are medically trained, you can't diagnose me over the Internet. I hold no opinion here as medical advice, but as the opinion of my nameless, faceless peers.
  9. I used to do the Terminator 2 theme song while I ran. I also once did the entire Conan the Barbarian movie in my head while doing a 12 mile ruck march.
  10. Hello fellow Rebel Scum. I was invited to this site by an old friend who got fat after marriage and then did something about it long before I did. Now, a wizened old man (30's), I seek to regain some of my lost manhood. Basic background: Law School student, former Army infantry, fab of nearly all things nerd and childish, child with adult responsibilities, and friend to all who seek it of me. I look forward to reclaiming my manhood.
