  1. Now we're at Week 5! Lemme tell ya... The not eating carbs thing is definitely going to stick. I'm not having an issue with accepting that anymore. I can take the bun off of things, I can dodge pasta like a ninja, I can say no to bread. And sugar, though sneaky as all hell, can also be avoided. This week, I barely tracked at all. Probably didn't track a full day this entire week, actually. That's just important for me, seeing as before I used to have 50 day streaks where I had to track every last bit that went into my mouth. It was uncomfortable, though it works for some people. Do I feel like I stayed under my goals? Yeah. Do I feel like I probably ate more carbs and sugar than I have for the first part of the challenge? Probably. I went very far under the 100G goal in the beginning, so now that I'm touching it sometimes, I feel a tad uncertain. And since I'm uncertain, it's making me want to check the scale. I was so close to being under 160. If I come home from camping and I'm still just over that damn mark, I'll probably need some help respawning. Regardless of what the result is of the second half of this challenge, my choices are between trying to be in ketosis or trying to do weight training + Yoga. Probably not a great idea doing both at the same time. Since low carb is already a habit, but working out isn't, I'm leaning towards the second. Anywayy.... WEEK FOUR COMPLETE GOAL 1: DRINK 3 WATER BOTTLES A DAY WEEK FOUR--SUCCESS, B+ What was automatic, all of a sudden became tripped up for a day. Really shows that I have to stay focused on every goal I have. GOAL 2: EAT LESS THAN 24G OF ADDED SUGAR A DAY WEEK FOUR---SUCCESS Without tracking, I'm still confident that I didn't have that much fructose in my diet. Added sugars, if any, came from good sources. I haven't been eating total junk, but I've been trying out sweeter grain free recipes and a box of gluten free low carb cookies. I'm not over indulging, which is a great sign that I have my stress eating under control. GOAL 3: EAT LESS THAN 100G OF CARBS A DAY WEEK FOUR--- SUCCESS Since I'm not tracking, I can't help but to worry that I'm getting too close or even over 100G of carbs a day. However, I won't be able to track when I'm camping, so it's good that I'm learning to go with my gut here. Literally. I'll know whether or not I was actually successful by what the scale says on the 8th. LIFE CHALLENGE: DO NOT USE THE SCALE WEEK FOUR-- SUCCESS This is definitely the hardest and even after nearly a month it hasn't gotten any easier. I will promise myself to only weigh once a week after this challenge. The curiosity is so strong. Am I under 160 now and I just can't check it? Am I bouncing back up because of creeping carbs, maybe? Or am I just stuck at 160 again? Aughhh. Do I feel better about my body? Yes. It'll be interesting to take a before and after shot. Can I really tell, without the numbers from the scale and the tape? In some places yes, others no. I'm feeling like I'm in the squishy fat period, because I think my cellulite's getting even worse. I'm hoping for a whoosh soon.
  2. I'm sure that would be a good plan, but my life challenge is not weighing myself. Given my draw to the scale this whole challenge, I probably should limit myself to once a week max.
  3. I messed up my water goal yesterday and now I feel tired and bloaty today. Bluckkkkk.
  4. If it works for you and encourages you in the right way, then that's good
  5. As a kid, I did Tae Kwon Do. I do want to get back into some sort of martial art, one of my Life Goals is to become a black belt. I was a brown belt, soooo damn close. I just didn't feel like I was physically fit enough to go that far. I'm also so strongly interested in what yoga has to offer. I also do a heck of a lot of dancing, though I never took classes. I wish I could go out and dance more often. Instead, I'll just move around in my room. I'm just all over the place for fitness things. Yoga and Weight Training seem like a good combination for me, so that's what I'm going to focus on moving forward. But, I hated running as a kid. Just could never get the breathing down. That's why I like yoga; it tells you to breathe.
  6. I did, just not zoodles. I'm now hooked on spaghetti squash and I'm looking forward to all the dishes I can use it in. I'm having kind of a weird moment right now in my challenge. On one hand, I want to experiment with all these different recipes that I'm now learning about. And on the other hand, I'm still trying to stay low carb. Since I can't track when I'm camping, I'm not strict on tracking my food. I guess, in a way, I'm the one who decides how I did during a challenge. I'm definitely not easy on myself, so I know if I'm slipping. I'm finding something that's sustainable for me. If I can just know that I can make a healthy pizza or grain-free cookies, or whatever treats I'm dreaming about, then I'm less likely to go and snarf some of that crap down. So, right now in my challenge, I'm allowing a bit of leeway. I'm pretty damn sure that I'm staying underneath 100 grams of carbs, and I shouldn't be approaching 24 grams of sugar, but I'm getting closer to those limits than I have before. I'm thinking of doing ketosis for a bit after the challenge, if I don't feel like I lost much weight during this challenge. I do want to get myself firmly and comfortably into the 150s.
  7. You're doing damn well, my friend. And woooooo for camping, I'm super revved up for going camping a week from now. I'm so ready to see this through to the end. I'm already gearing up for the next one!
  8. I think the idea that adults can't have proper friends and friend groups like they did when they were younger is just silly. I know I'm only twenty, but I've seen it be entirely possible to keep old friends that are becoming long distance and find friends who are closer by. Getting hobbies and finding people who share them like you did is probably the best way to go about it. After looking through some challenges, I'm really looking forward to my next one. I know that without it being part of a challenge, I might not be able to bring myself to do it, but I really want my next challenge to be work-out based. Doing yoga sounds fantastic... and if I was the type to want to run, I'd be totally all for the Zombie 5k. Running, while I've gotten better at it, still really isn't in my repetoire. Let's see this challenge through, no matter how hard it is to turn down bread and treats!
  9. I have not had a good track record using MFP. Something about it just seems like it punishes you for just a little bit, but meanwhile it doesn't let you know if you're actually getting the sort of nutrition you need. If you really want to track your calories, I'd moreso suggest Cron-o-meter. It's pretty nifty, and lets you see if you're lacking a bit in some nutritional areas. It's not all about calories, in the end
  10. Wow, I've been seriously busting my ass these past few days. I put in 13 hours of really vigorous gardening so I could earn the $400 my friend decided to pay me for it. It's coming just in time, really. Now I can have some wiggle room and feel comfortable paying my doctor. Woo!!!
  11. Choo choo, all aboard the slash bus. Also a huge Drarry and Merthur fan. Didn't watch Teen Wolf but I appreciated Sterek from afar. And in also into doing massage therapy. So Greetings and Salutations. Also I loved that Dodgeball movie.
  12. I think I would wanna try being a vegetarian but gawdddd I need a steak sometimes.
  13. Honestly, when I put it in, I didn't expect it to be so bad. My diet was bad in a different way when I was younger. I'm really happy with this low carb routine. It's getting me to cook more and learn new things. Plus, I just get kinda giddy when I can replace something grain based with a veggie and have it be BETTER than the original. It's a really great feeling to eat things that I would consider treats but are actually just veggies. Taking away that guilty feeling when our comes to food has been the best part of this challenge. I'm hooked on healthy. Hell yeah.
  14. I know what it's like to have a weight wall and I can't wait to break mine like you did Good job! I hope it keeps goin' for ya.
