      Coconut oil might feel better.

  2. Well that explains why cutting fraps out of my diet is so difficult...
  3. I actually didn't get into them until like two months ago when I finally decided "hey, I like the three songs from these people that I know, I'll get the rest of it." Back when they were actually a thing I was too busy with MM and NIN.
  4. A Mindless Self Indulgence song with a bad word for the title (not the one that starts with a B, a different one) BUT ALSO Grimes' Kill V Maim.
  5. Yup, you have to change it once a day, at the same time each day. And because irritation is so common you can't use the same spot in a 7-day period. And the pamphlet does say to avoid putting it over very hairy areas because it might not stick, i shaved my thigh before putting them there. (ETA: they are VERY expensive if your insurance doesn't cover them. Mine does, so i pay $20/month, but without coverage it's at LEAST $440 for the same amount) I had an ok time with the injections when i was on them for 8 months back in 2014, didn't hurt really, but since my work schedule and the clinic's walk-in hours didn't line up well (and i can't self-inject) it was just really inconvenient. I also had mood swings and weird sleep problems the day of/after each injection. That's why i'm trying the patches this time and so far i'm not getting the same spike-related side effects.
  6. my cat's trying to eat my hormones, kitty no don't dope up

  7. I will absolutely let you know! As of now, I'm only on day 3 and they stay on in the shower at least, which is good. Irritation is another common concern, but that seems to be a very individual thing so you can't really predict it... I have a little bit but i'm experimenting to see where I can put them to minimize that. I have a follow-up with my doc at the end of March, so I can give an update then since i'll have a better idea of how well they work!
  8. Did y'all know: hormones come in patches??? I'm getting back on testosterone after.. almost a year and a half off it and I'm trying out the Androderm patches. The adhesive doesn't seem very good, I'm hoping they don't fall off if I break too much of a sweat or something.
  9. I'm originally from South Florida i don't understand any of this deficit and water stuff. All i know is sitting in the snow is kinda cold.
  10. ! I did not know there was a nerd fitness guild I'll have to check that out too.
  11. So who else was snowed in this weekend? My back yard was waist deep.
  12. Garlic is never a maybe, always required I usually make migas when I have breakfast (which is where the "except for eggs" comes in) and that could probably be adjusted. Right now I add a veggie sausage to it and whatever leftovers my partner left me.
  13. I do love myself some soy, so I can just start buying more tofu and my partner can deal with it. I've never heard that about the carbs:fiber ratio tho! I'll try to stick to that at least, it should be easier than stressing about specific limit for total carbs. Thanks. I do have a hemp powder but I'm not entirely sure how to incorporate protein powders in not-smoothie foods? Not a big smoothie fan, or a fan of liquid calories in general. It also... is a bit old so I might have to replace it.
  14. I'm mostly vegan except for eggs and I was just puttin some things in a calculator and got the following output for macros: I'm not AS worried about the protein by itself because hey, I still eat eggs and the occasional meat stick and that helps, but I have no idea how to get it in without goin WAY over on the carbs. Unless I want to switch to a 100% eggs diet, in which case the cholesterol will probably kill me. What's a good way to go low-carb while staying vegan or mostly vegan? What type of stuff has quality protein but low net carbs?
  15. I'm not strictly vegan, but I went mostly-vegan, cold turkey, because I moved in with my vegan partner and we cannot afford to buy separate groceries! I do still buy eggs tho, gotta get my protein somewhere since I hate beans and lentils so much. Other than what's been shared, my biggest tip is to find out delicious ways to cook veggies, and find out what vegetables you like. A lot of people have problems putting more veg in their diet in general, and I'm pretty sure it's just because they don't know how to cook them. A simple way to make most things delicious is just sprinkle them with oil and salt/pepper and roast 'em on a cookie sheet at 375F or 425F until they're crispy and tender. And do your grocery shopping often! Some vegetables go bad really quick, don't try to buy them in bulk. Stuff like broccoli, onions, peppers etc can be cut up and frozen, potatoes and squash can keep for a really long time, but leafy veggies and replacement meat products generally don't fare quite as well. There's also Teese! I've never tried it, but it's soy-free. Daiya's my fav vegan cheese though, try making enchiladas with the pepperjack.
  16. It's the BEST cardio when you can do all the songs on the hard mode haha. I destroyed so many dance pads once upon a time.... so many. I haven't played it in years tho so we'll see how that goes.
  17. Right so I joined here in. September? of last year and everything was going fine. I was doing the BBWC 3x a week, eating a (mostly) whole food diet, and getting steps together for what was supposed to be a really big important surgery! Cool! Anyway, very late September I flew all the way out from NYC to Rochester, MN for a consult for said surgery and long story short I was denied it and forced to take antidepressants to make them even reconsider (also turns out I'm contraindicated for SSRIs due to a heart condition). The shock and disappointment put me in a really bad place and I could hardly get out of bed, much less do an actual workout. I also sadly ended up returning to my old Frappuccino-a-day diet. I've been working since then to get out of this rut, and I think I'm finally getting back on track. In addition to finding a different, more local surgeon that I'm waiting on a referral to, I'm working on eating better again and as of this week I've started working out again. Not the BBWC yet, just warm-ups are killin me right now. 2x a week, with supplemental cardio in the form of DDR as soon as my new pad for it comes in the mail hopefully tomorrow. I'm also trying to make sure I walk a bit every day, which is not hard when you take the subway everywhere and have to climb up multiple flights of stairs to get on and off it all the time. Fingers crossed that I can keep it up this time!
  18. I think it's not that certain types of comments are crossing the line, but more how they're presented. Without proper context, it's easy to make things seem like a mockery instead of like using humor to get through something hard. So it's more about how you frame it than anything else. I do also frequently use jokes and humor about my stuff, but I frame it in a way that makes it really clear that "hey hi I'm trans and joking about my actual personal situation this isn't some dig at trans people for bein weird." In other news.... BOOB GUARDS ARE A THING? I have some old sensei to go yell at for never telling me about those because I could've used those a couple of times when I was doing karate.
  19. apparently i started forgetting to track my activity on friday... i'll start again once i return from my trip

  20. You were responding in what I hope was a jokey manner, considering you're talking about someone who wants a permanent change, and you gave an irresponsibly dangerous temporary "solution." Whether you intended it to be or not, it's dismissive and kind of mocks the transitioning process - a process that's difficult and painful for most of the people who go through it. It also legitimately is equivalent to what Amazon said. Making that joke is the same as joking that a trans woman should just use helium as a voice modification. Both of these are awful, unsustainable suggestions.
  21. That stuff ain't permanent though, and I'm pretty sure it's not safe to be taking it in constantly. A better option for a trans person, who usuall wants a permanent voice change, is to do voice exercises and just work on maintaining that.
  22. Why are planks so hard...

to stop you falling through the floor into the room below ? ... and to keep ships from falling apart in bad weather

  23. They might do that, provided it's not mostly fat... my hips + thighs are where I gained most of those 40lbs. Thinking action/function over aesthetic actually helped a lot with certain unmentionables, so maybe it'll help a bit here. Actually a neat suggestion, thank you!
  24. I actually can't find pictures of (notable at least) people of my gender + body type, and very few even among non-notables. I don't want to compare myself to women, so none of that's going here. Sad. But I do have pics of myself in a gallery here. Anyway my body image is in an awful place in general, for a few reasons. 1: I gained 40lb in college and my family and doctors never stopped giving me shit about it. I started at 100-105 and started trying to gain weight so I could donate blood (the minimum is 110), and then it just didn't stop. I've internalized a lot of the smaller = better and more attractive narrative and still remember what being tiny was like so that hurts lol. 2: I am so, so curvy. I'm a bottom-heavy hourglass and while a lot of people think of this as a gift, it actually makes me feel awful. Because having extreme womanly curves doesn't sit well with my gender identity. A lot of times I'm sure I think I look bigger than I actually do, or that my brain exaggerates my curves, but I can't really convince myself that it's just in my head.
