  1. Oh right, so I actually worked out four times last week, but I didn't take my poor dog on a walk once . Only one more week left and I am going to do it right and well!!
  2. I stopped tracking and have just been trying to eat mindfully. It was working pretty well up until the weekend. I worked my tail off, but ate a few cupcakes and pizza lol. Round house kicks are so mucb fun! You can get a lot of power with them. I agree with the badass comment. Next challenge I want to work on my swimming I think. Recently rediscovered it and it is such a great, all around workout. Cutting carbs is a great idea! Good luck.
  3. Food wise this week is going pretty well. Still have a few more goals to hit. I plan to do some of the mini challenges here too.
  4. I played with the local HEMA group for a couple of months recently. It was a lot of fun! Great group of people. In the past I have done other martial arts, the problem is money. It is hard for me to justify $60-90 a month when it could go toward bills or savings. Where are you located? I may be able to point you toward a full armored joust! The jousting world is relatively small.
  5. Finished last week off hitting my dog walking and meditation goals! This week has started off well. My husband and I are doing the NF level 4 meal plan. Also decided boxing isn't for me, but I got a YMCA membership so hopefully that will help!
  6. Thanks, Lightning!!This week so far I have walked my dog once, meditated three times, and this will be my third day exercising! And the week is not even over! The thing I am really struggling with is staying within my calorie range. I have kind of given up logging because of fear of failure...even though I know that makes no sense Lol! I have been trying to not drink water while eating and then only eating until I am full. Tomorrow my husband and I are celebrating our anniversary so I think that day will be out the window :\.
  7. Hi! Which reality show? Knights of Mayhem or Full Metal Jousting? Second week was okay. Only exercised a couple of times and walked my dog once again. This week, however, has gone much better so far.
  8. Argh, I am apparently really struggling with this. This week will be better! Last week I walked my dog once, worked out twice, had quiet time in the morning twice, and stayed within calorie range four out of seven days. That's about a 50 percent average. Not good! Must do better! This week is that time of the month too :\.
  9. I was doing pretty well staying within my calorie range (went over yesterday, but did not exceed calories burned). Tonight was a fail. We had pizza. I don't even want to log it in because I know it will be over. Guess today will me my one day this week. So much for the weekend lol. Tomorrow will go to a sports bar to watch UFC 190. I have not watched anything like it before, except YouTube clips. Hopefully it will be a good time.
  10. Thanks! That would be a great idea, but no, no weight divisions. I go up against men and women of all shapes and sizes.
  11. Her name was Michelle. I wish I had gotten her last name, but I was too shy, heh. I'll let you know if I find out. She was really nice and helped me with my form (which is good, because I basically feel like I spend the whole hour flailing lol).

    Questing!!

Mini Quest 1: Is your overall quest achievable (over a short or long period of time)? Is it reasonable? Yes and yes! I made sure not to set myself up to fail. Do your 3 quests all build towards your main quest in little ways, or are you taking on too much? Do your quests have sub-quests or is it just one thing to focus on? They do! Staying within my calorie range, walking the dog more, and working out all work toward losing 20 pounds . Not really any subquests except maybe getting proficient at boxing. Are your main goals realistic? Can you scale them to smaller steps to fit your life better, even if it will make it take a little longer to achieve them? My main goals are realistic. I am not sure I could scale them back as they are pretty small in the grand sceme of things. Are your goals able to be measured and tracked? Yes What will you use to track them? I am using Fat Secret to track my calories, and a goal tracker app to track all of my goals. How are you grading your goals? Are they pass/fail (“every dayâ€, “not even once over the six weeksâ€)? My goals are pass/fail, with an evaluation of how well I passed or how badly I failed. Is there a reward for the effort, or are you only grading yourself on whether or not you “lose the weight†or “run the distanceâ€? Right now I am only grading myself. My reward will be to finish the course and reach my goals. What is your plan for continuing/altering/grading those goals if you become ill or injured? If I become ill or injured I can still do all of my quests, but I may go a little easier with the walking and working out. Did you take into consideration any special occasions (Labour Day, Independence Day, birthdays, anniversaries, etc) that may occur during the challenge? What modifications do you need to build into your goals for those? The reason quest 1 is staying within my calorie range 6 out of 7 days each week is just for this kind of thing. Do any of your main goals conflict with each other? Will one goal make it hard to do another? No, my goals do not conflict with each other. Do you already have the time in your schedule to actually complete the goals you’ve set? If not, what are you planning to do to make time for them? Yes! I do have time for them. Barely, but I know I do. Are you trying to build multiple habits, or is all your energy focused on your main quest? All of my current quests I would love to make into habits so I can stay on track even after I complete my main quest.

Thanks for commenting all!! How one gets into jousting: It so happens that a world champion jouster (for full contact) lives most of the year in Ohio where I live, which I am grateful for. So he trained me and while with that troupe, I learned a lot and eventually a few gals and I formed our own troupe, The Knights of the Rose. The main thing about jousting is it reeeally helps to know how to ride a horse first. Then usually if you go to your local Renaissance Fair you can talk to the troupe there about jousting. Hope that helps! Lightning - Thank you! I really would love to join the Assassins Guild!

  15. Great goals and great start! Love your inspiration!
  16. Today was pretty decent. Quest 1.) Passed. With flying colors. Ate my minimum amount of calories (about 1,800). The only thing that was not so great was I need to go shopping (and will tomorrow), so in order to eat enough calories I had an oreo. Probably could have just lived without reaching that min. Oh well. Quest 2.) Did a boxing bootcamp class today. Man was it tough! Part of it was pushing some weights on...well I don't know what it was, but by the time I was done with the sixth pass, my knees about gave out. Eesh. Still, it was a good class and I even got to meet a professional women's MMA fighter! Quest 3.) Not today, plan to tomorrow. Life quest) Not today, hopefully tomorrow. This one should not be that hard. I will do this! All in all, pretty happy with today. Definitely things to work on. I will be happier after I restock my freezer with veggies too! I miss my veggies.

    Questing!!

Hey all! My name is Jess and this is my first 6 week challenge. I work a 9-5 full time job, and joust on the side. As in, ride horses in plate armor and run at my opponents with lances. This summer there have not been a lot fo jousts and after training hard for a Spartan race in the spring, I kind of went all sorts of different directions. Ultimately I want to lose twenty pounds, and get stronger and leaner. My three goals for this 6 week challenge : 1.) Stay within my needed calorie count 6 out of 7 days each week. 2.) Workout at boxing class or BW lvl 4, four to five times a week. 3.) Get out and walk my dog at least two times a week. I get so busy and tired, this unfortunately gets put on the back burner. No more! Bonus life quest: I suffer from anxiety. My life goal would be to take at least ten minutes at least four mornings of the week to pray and receive peace. Here goes!! So excited to go on this journey with you all!
  20. Okay, so I screwed up. I have been part of the academy since January, but this is my first 6 week challenge. Do I need to be over in the recruits section?
  21. Thanks all!! Yes, I joust. I'm crazy, I know . I thought to be a part of a guild you just kind of picked one and followed the quests. Looking forward to seeing what else is in store!
  22. Hey all! My name is Jess and this is my first 6 week challenge. I work a 9-5 full time job, and joust on the side. As in, ride horses in plate armor and run at my opponents with lances. Right, and I am 28 years old, 6'1", and about 220 pounds. This summer there have not been a lot of jousts and after training hard for a Spartan race in the spring, I kind of went all sorts of different directions. Main quest: Ultimately I want to lose twenty pounds, and get stronger and leaner. My three goals for this 6 week challenge : Quest 1.) Stay within my needed calorie count 6 out of 7 days each week. I get so busy and tired, this unfortunately gets put on the back burner. No more! Life quest: I suffer from anxiety. My life goal would be to take at least ten minutes at least four mornings of the week to pray and receive peace. Motivation: This is the hardest thing I struggle with!! I need long term, sustainable motivation. Fitting into smaller clothes just doesn't seem like good enough motivation to me. Any ideas? Here goes!! So excited to go on this journey with you all!
