  1. Well here I am on this not so long NF journey of mine. I crossed the 80lbs down mark since January. I started the year at 270 hoping to lose 50 lbs for my wedding in May. I hit that and then I wondered if I could hit 200 which I hadn't weight since my early 20s. I hit that sometime in July. Then I decided to go for 190. Well I hit that today!! I couldn't have done it without this site and everyone's (especially my wife's!) support. I am not really sure what my goals are now. Just get stronger and lose the batch of loose skin still hanging onto the front of my stomach and the "love handle" area.
  2. 20 Pull up challenge workout Week 3, Day 1 4, 3, 4, 3, 4. 120 seconds rest between sets. 18 is the most I've done in one session. The meager grand total is... 90! Crow stand practice. When got home from work I did 7 extra chin ups. I did my Nerd Fitness Morning Mile Challenge in the evening tonight. So far the eating slightly more is working out well. I feel like I have more energy during my workouts.

  4. Got up at 5:30 with Mrs Empeg this morning and did the Nerd Fitness Morning Mile Challenge. Then when I got back I did my regular workout. 100 push up challenge workout. Week 5, day 2, level 2 20,25,20,20,22, 120 seconds rest between sets. Push up total for this challenge:1258 I was not feeling the assisted pistol squats today. I was feeling unsteady and my knees where a little cranky. So I did normal close feet body weight squats. 3X20 for a total of 60. Leg Lifts 1X15, 2X12. Dips 3X10 So I ate a good bit more than normal but kicking in a half chicken breast in the mid-morning yesterday and had a nice big pork chop last night. Then I had a protein shake later on. I have to say I felt a little better in my workout this morning. I think I will try to make a stronger effort to eating more quality protein and see how I feel and how my weight does.
  5. 20 Pull up challenge workout Week 2, Day 3 3, 3, 3, 3, 3. 120 seconds rest between sets. The meager grand total is... 72! Tonight Mr's Empeg and I walked to the polling place to cast our votes. It's about a mile away so it was a good two mile walk. Then we had a nice dinner of pork chops with an apple and onion chutney that I made. That's it for today. I was not feeling it at all. I was barely able to complete those required sets. I have been feeling pretty weak lately. I feel like I have been struggling and not progressing. I could be in a plateau. I am going to keep pushing through until the end of the month. I am going to make a conciseness effort to try and eat a little more. This is difficult for me for two reasons. One I find it difficult to eat a ton with paleo. You get so full. I also have it in my head that I am afraid of getting fat again after losing 78lbs. So I am going to really try and eat a bit more protein and really ramp that up. I am hoping that will help with my muscle soreness and my strength.
  6. You lost me on this ^ Dude that's awesome that you are already working on Pistol Squats! It took my a good six months before I even started thinking about doing them. Congrats on the other gains too.
  7. Good luck! I will be following along and cheering for you! I;ve been there wanting to bang out those push ups. You will be amazed at how quickly they start coming. Once you can do 2 or 3, start greasing the groove. Just start doing as many as you can throughout the day when you have 30 seconds. That's what I did when I first started and it really helped my performance.

  9. Saturday night only slept 2 hours. I finally got to sleep at 6am. I had to get up at 8 for church. Then I had to go visit family up in the Adirondacks and didn't get home until 10pm. However I didn't want to miss the Nerd Fitness Morning Mile Challenge and miss a day on only the fourth day. SO I walked last night. At least I got the walk in. Diet wise, Holy smokes. I was a captive audience up at the in-laws yesterday. I was starving by around 4pm because I missed lunch. So while I was there I had. 10 saltines, a mini twix bar. I had a cup of mashed potatoes at dinner. Two beers. 5 shortbread cookies for dessert. I came in at 2400 calories, 253g!!!! of carbs, and only 66g of protein. That is NOT the way to fat loss. Back to hardcore style today.
  10. No workout today. I decided to give my back a little more rest. I still have a sore spot in my lat just below the shoulder blade. I did the Nerd Fitness Morning Mile Challenge however with Mrs. Empeg. We walked two miles today. I did do some active movement and cleaned up my garage, and got my antique cars all ready to be stored for the winter. It's always a sad day. I might get them out one more two more times but that's about it. Almost time to put the motorcycle away too. My eating has been very good this week. Not totally paleo as I've put creamer in my coffee and a couple other indiscretions but very healthy overall.
  11. 100 push up challenge workout. Week 4, day 3, level 2 Workout was supposed to be: 23,28,23,23,33, 120 seconds rest between sets. I was not feeling overly strong. I did okay the first two sets then it went down from there. 23,28,18,18,18, 120 seconds rest between sets. 105 total reps, 4 less than last time. I'm still pretty sore in my back but at least I did something. I went back and did 25 more after about 30 minutes. I was annoyed that I didn't hit all my reps. Push up counter during this challenge is 1048.
  12. I know how that goes. It will only take you a little tightening up on the diet and you will be back to normal.
  13. It started hurting not long after my last set of pull ups. You might be right, it might be from poor form when I got tired.
  14. Got up at 5am this morning and did the Nerd Fitness Morning Mile Challange. I am playing it by ear to see how my back feels before deciding on doing my push ups today. I really don't want to miss a day. Kicked the left over Halloween candy out of the house this morning. I have snacked on it two days in a row. Got to get that out!!!
  15. You did better than me! I ate 4 "fun" sized bars last night which apparently are equal to a regular candy bar. That's not very paleo. I took the open package to work this morning and I am dropping the unopened package off at church.

Headstand practice belly to wall. Crowstand Bridge work After my workout this morning my back like locked up or something. It feels like someone stabbing me right below the shoulder blade. Hopefully it goes away by morning so I can do push ups! Tonight I went for a walk around the lake near my house which is 1.3 miles. I decided to get up on the Nerd Fitness Morning Mile Challange

  20. Today's workout: 100 push up challenge workout. Week 4, day 2, level 2 20,25,20,20,24, 90 seconds rest between sets. 109 total reps. That last set was supposed to be 28 but I was dying and still pretty sore from Monday. Push up counter during this challenge is 918. Assisted Pistol Leg Squats - Just to clarify my hand is touching a desk just to help with balance. I have the strength, I just haven't built up the balance. 3x30 each leg Leg lifts 2x12, 1x11. I just couldn't get that last one finished. That's it for today. Quick and dirty, in and out in 30 minutes. I have been eating extremely well the last two weeks and I have even abstained from all alcohol. I have dropped 3 lbs and I am down to 192.2 which is a new low for me. I promised my wife we would have a fun dinner tonight so are going to have chicken wings and I will probably have a beer to go with it. I don't really want to do it but I did promise. I suppose you have to enjoy it at some points otherwise you will just go crazy.
  21. As far as push ups go I have to be in the thousands. I am at 891 on just this 6 week challenge. Not sure where I am in Pull ups. I may go back in my paper log and see if I can add them up.
