  2. I will be doing a push up, pull up, weight loss, paleo goal type thing.

    Going Paleo

I will be starting a 30 day 100% strict paleo tomorrow. So good luck. I haven't eaten any kind of grain since the beginning of the year but I have had beer here and there and cream in my coffee.
  4. I didn't realize another one was coming up. I was going to do my own month challenge for the month of March. I guess I will hop in the challenge again this time. That will make two for me in the new year. I already have my goals lined up.
  5. JackAttack don't get too caught up in the little stuff. You are a lot like me in that respect. I finally just let go of that. When you are staring down 50lbs to lose just getting started and doing anything and leaving the processed foods behind will give you a huge benefit!
  6. hey Jack. I didn't really know. I just ate what I thought was a moderate meal. I figured 2-3 eggs is reasonable along with a little bacon. I also tried changing some of my habits. I stopped eating until I was stuffed. You know when you put food on a plate if its considered too much. I think my cutting out the bad foods, ie processed sweets and grains made a huge difference. I know some people will eat tons of bacon or whatever. I don't. I eat any meat and mix it up but I eat those in moderation. I eat until I'm satisfied. If you eat your serving and still feel hungry just give it 20 minutes. If you're still hungry have a little more. My eating is based around meat and green veggies, onions, peppers, an root vegetables.
  7. Thanks. No books. I read the article on NF. I read Marks Daily Apple a lot! There is a lot of good info there. Yes I generally eat 3 times a day. If I am more hungry that day, I eat some almonds or an apple. Well I eat eggs everyday for breakfast. Sometimes two, sometimes three. If I have bacon or turkey sausage then I have two eggs. If I am only having eggs I have three eggs. Lunch is often chicken or a can of tuna with balsamic vinegar and some almonds or an apple. Dinner is usually a homemade soup, (chicken, veggie, beef). I like one pot meals during the week. I also have steak a bit. I haven't had any potatoes or beans either. I have been eating a bit of almonds and apples as snacks. Oh blueberries too. Not too much though. I still drink too much coffee and use half and half. My fiance supporting me has been a big help.
  8. I am no paleo expert. I just started myself 4 weeks ago. I originally said to myself, "No more grains for the six week challenge." Then I tried to eat a basically paleo lifestyle. I would eat a couple eggs for breakfast and a turkey breakfast sausage. Grilled chicken and almonds for lunch. I've been making a lot of homemade soups for dinner. I have been tracking what I eat but not really count calories. I have felt not full but not starving. I tried not getting too caught up in the numbers stuff because I am a numbers dork. I just eat when I am hungry, don't when I am not. I have learned if my stomach isn't growling, I am just thirsty or bored. Not hungry. I have lost 20lbs so far in 4 weeks. I find paleo easy to follow and I don't feel like I am missing too much. Well except that my fiance is an awesome baker but I am laying off that for a while. Good luck. If I can do it, so can you. I am sure people more experienced than me will chime in with better advice. PS. Welcome aboard from another Noob!
  9. Made it back yesterday afternoon. I did pretty well. I ate at some place in PA on Friday night called Longhorn Steakhouse. I had Filet with extra veggies. Saturday AM I had two eggs and bacon. At lunch time i had Chipotle in OH and I did the Paleo Hack on the Burrito bowl which I had read about somewhere online. I had the chicken with salsa and hot salsa, guacamole, lettuce and that's it. It was really good. Saturday night for dinner I had steak and veggies again. Then the wheels feel off and I had a bunch of drinks with friends at a local bar. I had a pretty good time though! Sunday am it was back to normal. I had an omelet with onion, pepper, ham, bacon, and tomato. So overall I am pleased. My friend was pretty supportive as he has lost weight int he past on Atkins.
  10. Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I appreciate it. I will update the thread when I get back and let you know how I did.
  11. Hey Everyone one, I am doing the paleo thing for my 6 week challenge and probably longer. I am going on a 3 day road trip this weekend. Any suggestions? I know on highways there are mostly things like McDonalds and Burger King. I really want to stay paleo and not cheat. I know for breakfast as long as it's a diner I can get bacon and eggs. Lunches and dinner is what I am worried about. I am traveling with a friend who fancies asian a lot.
  12. Thanks everyone for the responses.
  13. That's what I thought but I have yet to see it in any paleo recipes.

    Olive Oil?

Hey there, I am new here and although I haven't gone totally paleo it makes sense to me. I am doing the 6 week challenge and I have given up grains and simple sugars during it. Actually except during my birthday celebration recently and my creamer for coffee I would say I've been almost all paleo for a little over a week. Anyway here is my question. A lot of paleo recipes use coconut oil for cooking veggies. Why not olive oil?
