  1. Yes, please! The buddy system helps I've got a walk scheduled for this afternoon. Today will be my first day of seeing whether this new schedule plan works or not *crosses fingers* Though, I forgot to put "see what food is in the fridge & freezer" on the schedule, which I really need to do today so I can start the meal plan. Maybe I can do that in my after-dinner unscheduled time.

    BD Starts Over

Okay! New year, new challenge. Let's try this again. I think I'm going to make it simple. Start Meal Planning Over the holidays, I slacked off on paying attention to what I was eating. Now the holiday treats are whittling down, it's time to sort that out. Figure out a planning schedule Create the planning tasks in Habitica Plan a week Plan a second week Plan a third week Walk Every Day Also falling off, any sort of movement. Therefore, it's time to get out to walk, even if it's only a little one. Schedule a daily walk for the weekdays Schedule a daily walk for the weekends Go for one walk Get a three day streak Get a five day streak Get a seven day streak Create a Decluttering Plan I had a grand quest to declutter last year, but with no plan. So, it's time to strategize. This one's a little more vague than the others. Figure out what areas need to be tackled Break down each area into smaller tasks Work through those tasks Okay, I think I'm going to work with that. Here's to a new start!
  3. Thank you very much 😃 And I disappeared again. Ah well. I think I'm just going to play these as they come and make sure I'm at least here at the start and the end 😋 Anyway, got about half of my items done in December. Unfinished ones are project estimation and cleaning: Estimate the time to complete the top three. Set myself a deadline for the top three. Gather everything off of the storage surfaces. Get rid of anything that can be gotten rid of. Find a place for everything else. Look up where the Eco Centre is and plan a trip. This does not surprise me in the slightest. Right. On to the new year!
  4. Okay, checking-in still something I'm not great at, but now I've finished one of my daily structure items, that should hopefully change: Plan a daily schedule. Also finished a few of the search preparations: Get LinkedIn updated. Create a new resume. I'll still be working to tweak those, but I've got a decent starting point now, rather than nothing.
  5. That looks so neat! Sorry the day before that was so frustrating
  6. I think there's some on figuring out what you want to do, but there's a lot on prepping for the job search, like getting your LinkedIn and resume up to date and such, so those are the ones I'm focusing on at the moment. I've only had the chance to go to a few so far, but I think they're going to be useful!
  7. Heh! My experience is the opposite way around I really need to change that, though. I get to make an update! Touch base with the Career Transition Service. Confirmation came through and I've registered myself for the orientation. Now I'm just going to follow this through, and sign up for ALL THE WEBINARS! That should help with getting me back on a consistent schedule, though. I think I've got a full week of ones that start at 9 am.
  8. Always good to see you! Yay! It's fun having an unexpected goal-buddy For now, I'm going to let the exercise and cooking slid a bit. I do plan to work them in, but oddly enough, I might have a better chance of that if I don't make it a specific goal. I've had a lot of take-out recently, so I think fatigue there will help with cooking again, and I'm trying to get in a walk now and again to start the exercise back in. If I can get those working, then I'll look at stepping it up.
  9. Congratulations on finishing your PHD! (I can't remember if I said that already or not, so if I did, extra congratulations!) I'm looking forward to joining you for a job search prep month I'm in the British English crowd, too, though admittedly, I'm largely absent 😂Your cat is a cutie! I hope the yoga mat battles always go in your favour!
  10. I've been considering sitting this one out, since I've washed out of the last, what, three challenges? Anyway, I think I'll try this anyway, if only to add a bit of structure. This month is mostly about adjusting and preparing for things I'll have to deal with in the new year. I'd like to go into it with everything I need in place. Prepare for The Search I need to look for a new job in 2020. This month I want everything in place to hit the ground running with that. Touch base with the Career Transition Service. (Waiting on a callback, but I want to check in if it goes for a week without hearing.) Get LinkedIn updated. I have basics in there, but it's time to clean it up and prepare to use it. Create a new resume. I haven't needed one in, oh, 15 years, so I don't even know if I have a copy of the old one. Might as well start over. Create a Daily Structure While I'm looking for a day job, I want to write full time. This means creating a work schedule and sticking to it without extra pressure. Plan a daily schedule. List all current projects. Prioritize all projects. Estimate the time to complete the top three. Set myself a deadline for the top three. Organize my Space I'll be in my home office a lot more now. It's got a bunch of random stuff in it at the moment, both because I was in the middle of clearing out my closet and because I brought home all the stuff from my work office. It's a mess, is what I'm saying. Gather everything off of the storage surfaces. Get rid of anything that can be gotten rid of. Find a place for everything else. Look up where the Eco Centre is and plan a trip. Hopefully, I can get all that done, so I don't have to carry any of it forward to 2020. I will make checking in here part of the schedule I'm creating, but it might take me a bit to get into a more regular habit.
  11. Right, well, that didn't go well. Ah well. Going to give another one a try and we'll see. It went very well! I had a wonderful time
  12. Well, not doing great on the whole check-in goal Other than thinking "oh, right, I should check-in" pretty much every day, I haven't done much there. I've been keeping up with Meditation, NaNo, and YNAB, though. At last I'm doing part of this
  13. I'm going to a writing retreat for a few days. It'll be a good way to start NaNo, but not so great for checking in on the forums
  14. Okay, so I didn't get three last week. Oops! Also, I realized I might not be able to check in for most of this week, due to being in a location with no WiFi. I probably should have thought that goal through a little more, but it's just one week. But I kept up with YNAB over the weekend and took care of a to-do. Doing well on the base meditation goal, still. So, not a bad start.
  15. *LOL* I didn't even think of that Right, so I posted on Tuesday and I'm checking in one Friday, so, uh, might have to check in tomorrow to hit all three NaNo hasn't started yet, so I'm clear on that, thought I did make sure all my files are set-up the way I need. I've meditated every morning, but no go on the stretch goal. I'm good with this. I took a few items off the to-do list, hooray! I've also got my YNAB updated, through I still need to reconcile one more thing, so that will make it easier to keep on top of it from here on out.
  16. These are great goals! You did an excellent job finding things that can have a positive impact, even though they're "small" things
  17. Okay, let's try this again, shall we? Next month is going to be a bit interesting, with NaNo on top of other stuff, so I'm going to go back to some basics and see how things go. Meditation: once per day (at least 5 mins), with a stretch goal of adding a second session before bed. Forums: check in three times per week. Creativity: finish NaNoWriMo project. To-dos: check something off the monster list three times per week. Finances: reconcile YNAB at least twice a week. The NaNo one will be the big goal, and a daily one, so the others have more slack, but I think this'll do
  18. I'm so sorry to hear about that I hope things improve next month.
  19. It was reasonably decent, but then I completely forgot to even look at the forums, like, the last four days of the challenge Don't think I can call this one successful, but at least I did pop in now and again. On to the next!
  20. Excellent plan! Good luck with your thesis defense
  21. I'm glad to hear your friend's surgery went well. It does sound like the reading break was needed. That's a great way to spend a weekend
  22. I hope you feel better soon and that things get sorted out with the printing. Take care of yourself this week
  23. Ack! Are they at least happening over a short stretch? Or is this going to continue the rest of the month?
  24. Last week sucked and I pretty much checked out But I'm still around, so that's something. Did not manage to get my sleep in order, though. Have to give that one another shot this week
