  1. Hi TinyOak (Kristen), So glad you are here for your second question. How is everything going? I am curious, what is your means of evaluation for your Quest Goal 3: Hoard Your Riches! the goal is awesome and I am wondering what you do to measure it and how do you load the data into the quest tracker. Share your secrets please! I love the writing goal. You and I seem to be on a similar path. How did your first week go? Are you going to give an update for weeks 1&2 tomorrow? Sending peace and good vibes your way!
  2. Green team! I was majorly sick last week Luckily, my gill-slits are not longer clogged and I am feeling better. I am going to get crawling on Sunday morning. We are in last place. Is there still a chance for us to pull it together? Any ideas?
  3. Where have I been for the past week? Unfortunately, I have been extremely sick (not taken hostage, luckily, by the Goa'uld). On Saturday 06 November 2015, my health began to take a turn for the worst. On Monday 09 November 2015 the worst of my sick streak began. I had an extreme headache and was always cold. My nose was clogged, my desk and floor were riddled with tissues, and I was blowing my nose constantly (my gill-slits were clogged like crazy). As many of you know, I am a middle school English and History teacher. Trimester one was over and report-card grades needed to be finalized and submitted. As much as I do not like taking medicine unless I have to, Dayquil and Nyquil were my friends. I kept on going to work and getting my report-cards done. During my illness bout, anytime extra time I had was spent in bed trying to leave my body's energy towards healing. I finally felt 100% again on Friday 13 November 2015. Today, 14 November 2015 I feel good enough to login to NF again and do some needed updates! Here is what this post is going to contain. 1) Updates and logs for the first week: Luckily, I was able to complete my first week goals and mini-challenge 2) Responses to the fellow assassins who were so kind as to post on my thread (I heart you all!) 3) Plans for how I am going to approach what is left of the second week and roll into the third week. 4) Life reflections of things that have been going on. So, without any further introduction, here we go! Shaarawy, thanks for the welcome! Also, ROGER! I will remember rule 76! Here is a photo of my cat Cha-cha She sometimes swears but most of the time she is polite and gentle. Tiny-oak! I hope you are rocking things out! When I hit Seven Cheverons I am going to enter the gate and do a special "Off-World Challenge!" If you want to be on my team maybe we can plan for it together! After that mission it is back to dialing the gate--sequence two! Maybe back to Earth...maybe not... Hi tenaciousglee! Thank you for the reminder! I got jumping in the first week and put down my numbers! Now I need to see if I have enough time to join the second mini-challenge. Weather it counts or not, I will get crawling. Update for the Week of 02 November 2015 - 08 November 2015: CHALLENGE GOAL 1: "Be-Four Dawn" MONDAY 02 NOVEMBER 2015: 4:43AM - 5:18AM Circuit Training - "Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 Week1" TUEDAY 03 NOVEMBER 2015: 5:06AM - 5:36AM Yoga Today "Inversion Workshop" with Neesha Zolinger (I love the way Neesha teaches and this connects well with one of my other goals. I must do this one again) WEDNESDAY 04 NOVEMBER 2015: 5:41AM - 6:11AM Yoga Today "Twist It Out" with Sarah Clark THURSDAY 05 NOVEMBER 2015: 5:52AM - 6:22AM Circuit Training - "Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 Week1" CHALLENGE GOAL 2: "Pull It Together" MONDAY 02 NOVEMBER 2015: 6:22PM-6:33PM - 3 minutes negative pull-ups, 3 minutes body weight rows, 3 minutes assisted pull-ups with exercise band, 1 minute dead hang TUEDAY 03 NOVEMBER 2015: 7:24PM-7:35PM - 2 minute dead hang, 3 minutes assisted pull-ups with exercise band, 3 minutes body weight rows, 1minute dead hang, 1 minutes body weight rows WEDNESDAY 04 NOVEMBER 2015: 6:16PM-6:27PM - 3 minutes dead hand, 2 minutes dead hang, 3 minutes assisted pull-ups will exercise band, 1 minute dead hang THURSDAY 05 NOVEMBER 2015: 8:11PM-8:22PM - 3 minutes body weight rows, 1 minute dead hang, 2 minutes assisted pull-ups with exercise band, 1 minute dead hang, 3 minutes body weight rows Pull-up EDUCATION!: I found this video which has some good pointers. I learned a lot from the"Put your elbows in your back pockets" point and "Put your elbows in the right place point." This is going to help me when I finish my training for this week. My favorite resource is our NF pull-up page. CHALLENGE GOAL 3: "This End Up" MONDAY 02 NOVEMBER 2015: 5:22AM-5:33AM - 4 minutes - Half-moon pose flow 3-minutes downward facing dogs half-splits flow 2minutes - dolphin flow TUEDAY 03 NOVEMBER 2015: 7:13PM-7:24PM - 4 minute crow-flow - 2 minute foundation organization - 4 minutes dolphin flow THURSDAY 05 NOVEMBER 2015: 5:21AM-5:31AM - 3-minutes downward facing dogs half-splits flow 2minutes - dolphin flow -4 minutes dolphin/water-pump flow FRIDAY 04 NOVEMBER 2015: 4:24AM-4:35PM - 3-minutes downward facing dogs tadasana flow 2minutes - dolphin flow -4 minutes dolphin/water-pump flow LIFE CHALLENGE GOAL: "Write On Track" My novel writing has been in the planning stages this week. I have been deciding what themes I want to include in the story and what theme I was to be the overall concentration. I have began to hash-out characters and create character profiles. Next week will be all about creating a solid outline. I am planning on getting the actual draft writing started next week. I love how this is also helping my writing but also bring my husband and I closer together. POST-SICKNESS REFLECTION: I am proud of myself for realizing when my body needed rest and not pushing myself and when my health was not one hundred percent. As a result, I am going to allow my workout on Sunday this week to be an hour-long in the morning and have that count for two. I am modifying this part of my goal for this week since getting sick was completely out of my control and it was a conscious choice to rest and get better. That's why an hour-long exercise session tomorrow will count for two morning sessions and not just one. I also will do one morning and one evening inversion practice and pull up practice on the same day and have it count for two. Friday I already did the inversion practice and today I did the double pull up practice. Next week, I am going to plan out my week. I will write what my plan is in my post tomorrow. See you for another weekly update tomorrow! It is good to be back!
  4. The internet is down at my house today and I was not able to log my jumps this morning. I came to the local Starbucks so I can log my participation in the mini for this week! We might be brining up the rear but we can still rock this out!
  5. Time to gear-up and get ready to jump! Let's rock this Green!
  6. Time to gear-up and get ready to jump! Let's rock this Green!
  7. Hi everyone! My name is Ted. I am new to the assassins (I was a recruit last challenge). I am happy to be here and looking forward to the start of the challenge tomorrow!
  8. If you are looking to follow me during the next challenge, my new challenge thread can be found here: http://rebellion.nerdfitness.com/index.php?/topic/73920-chevron-two-encoded-challenge-two-thread-for-hgtedo/
  9. INTRODUCTION: My name is Ted and this is my second challenge. I am looking forward to being a part of the assassins during during challenge 44. If you are interested, my first challenge thread can be found here. When I found Nerd Fitness, I joined the academy first. I was searching for how to build intrinsic motivation into a fitness routine and Nerd Fitness came across my path. Thanks to my first challenge, I am getting closer to my goal of intrinsically motivate fitness. My hard work and my look into essentialism has really helped me focus my efforts. I chose the assassins because I enjoy bouldering, calisthenics, and balance work done through yoga. I want to build a learner stronger frame. People I admire and look to as I train would be Kevin Poeung and Simon Park. I am a 33 year old English and History teacher and live in San Francisco, CA with my husband and our orange bob-tail cat named Cha-cha. We have been in the Bay Area for about a year. Before California, my husband and I were living in Japan (I was there for seven years and he was there for his whole life). I am a lover of science fiction and have been a fan of all the Star Gate seasons which is why my topic titles reference the dialing sequence. These challenges are a way I can take back control of my dreams by making my fitness and health a priority in my life. I am excited about doing this for myself and glad I have gained some great support and friends along the way. MAIN QUEST: I will have an active life full of movement and activities I find joy in so I can live a life of peace and adventure with my husband. CHALLENGE GOAL 1: "Be-Four Dawn" GOAL: By 14 December 2015, I will exercise for a least thirty minutes in the morning, at least four days a week, for a total of 24 workout sessions over the course of the challenge. REASONING: During the last challenge, I scheduled a workout everyday of the week. On any given day, I was either practicing yoga or doing the body brigade workout. This left little to no time for recovery. This challenge, I am giving myself three days for potential recovery. I also want to work towards enjoying morning workouts since I can take full advantage of the after-burn over the course of the day and be more energized. I also would like to have my evenings open in order to spend more time with my husband. Up until now, getting up early in the morning and working out has been difficult for me. I am a teacher and wake-up really early already. MEANS OF EVALUATION: I will post on my thread the details of each workout for the previous week by Sunday evening of that week. The details of my workout will include the time started, duration, and what I did to workout. If I have at least 24 workouts recorded by the end of this challenge, I will have met this goal. [Attribute: STAMINA A=+3 B=+2 C=+1] CHALLENGE GOAL 2: "Pull It Together" GOAL: By 14 December 2015, I will work for 10 minutes, at least four days a week, on my training to do a complete, unassisted, pull-up for a total of 24 sessions over the course of this challenge. REASONING: I have enjoyed bouldering and have some pretty solid upper body strength. Unfortunately, I do not have the muscle strength needed to do a complete unassisted pull-up. Systematically working on my pull-ups throughout this challenge will help me build the needed strength in order to get close to doing an unassisted pull-up. MEANS OF EVAULUATION: I will post on my thread the details of each training session for the previous week by Sunday evening of that week. The details of the training session will include what I did to train and the time I started. If I have at least 24 training sessions on my thread by the end of the challenge, I will have met this goal. [Attribute: STRENGTH A=+4 B=+3 C=+2] CHALLENGE GOAL 3: "This End Up" GOAL: By 14 December 2015, I will work for 10 minutes, at least four days a week, on my inverted poses foundation for a total of 24 sessions over the course of this challenge. REASONING: In my practice of yoga, I have always felt inspired by inverted poses. In the beginning, I had a fear of going into an inverted pose. I thought, if I went into an inverted pose, I would drop on my spine and break my neck. Several years back, I trampled that fear by running into a handstand. The momentum of this method got me into a wall-assisted hand-stand. I want to work toward doing an unassisted tripod headstand. To do this I will need to work on building my foundation on a consistent basis. MEANS OF EVALUATION: I will post on my thread the details of each foundation building session for the previous week by Sunday evening of that week. The details of the foundation building session will include what I did toward building the right foundation and the time I started. If I have at least 24 training sessions on my thread by the end of the challenge, I will have met this goal. [Attribute: A=+4 B=+3 C=+2] LIFE CHALLENGE GOAL: "Write On Track" GOAL: By 14 December 2015, I will write over 40,000 words towards a new novel which I will plan with my husband. REASONING: My husband is an illustrator and a graphic designer. We have been playing around with the idea of me writing a novel and him drawing illustrations for the story. We have floated ideas and concepts around but never got anything seriously together. Since November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), and this challenge covers the month of November, I thought I would inspire our project to head in the "write" direction and get my husband and I "write" on track towards completing our novel. MEANS OF EVALUATION: I will have met this goal if I have written at least 40,050 words on my novel by the end of this challenge. My word-count progress can be seen on my NaNoWriMo page. I will also give weekly updates on Sunday evening on how I am progressing towards the 40,000 word goal. [Attribute: WISDOM A=+3 B=+2 C=+1] PRE-REFLECTION: Setting new goals fills me with such great energy. I feel geared-up and ready to begin. I feel even better this time around since I have already engaged in one challenge and know my goals are challenging yet attainable. Learning what works well for me and what needs tweaking I believe will help me towards an intrinsically motivated practice. I am proud to be part of the assassins and growing stronger with everyone!
  10. This will be my first challenge with the assassins! I am looking forward to joining this mini as well.

Hi everyone, I have a quick question. Do we have to wait for the next challenge to begin before we start our next challenge thread in our chosen guild or can we start one now in order to prepare our next set of goals during the waiting period?

With this goal complete I earned a +3 to Dexterity. CHALLENGE GOAL 3: “EVERY THING WILL WORK OUT!†I worked out at least four times a week, not counting my yoga practice. I recorded the details of my workout on the NF forums. With this goal complete, I am awarding myself a +3 to Stamina. LIFE QUEST: “YOU’RE HISTORY!†I studied for thirty minutes a day and detailed each study session on my challenge thread. With this challenge complete, I have earned a +3 to Wisdom. Here are the points awarded from the mini-challenge: 1st Mini Challenge: +1 to Wisdom 2nd Mini Challenge: +1 to Charisma 3rd Mini Challenge: +1 to Stamina My stats now that the challenge is over: Lvl 2: STR: 1 DEX: 5 STA: 6 CON: 4 WIS: 6 CHA: 3
  14. CHALLENGE GOAL 1: “YOU LOOK LIKE A TALL GLASS OF WATER†My husband and I enjoyed a cup of pu-erh tea in the morning and two cups of chai across the afternoon. Alcohol was not even on the table at any point today. I plan to continue trying not to drink alcohol. Maybe only having a small glass here or there or even sharing a glass with my husband. My first cup of coffee will be on 31 October 2015--Saturday morning. This way I can have a nice slow morning over a single cup. I am going to make the cardamom coffee recipe I read about. The majority of my caffeine intake will be through tea from now on. This goal is now officially complete. CHALLENGE GOAL 2: “DON’T WORRY, I’M FLEXIBLE†This goal was completed yesterday. I plan to continue with my yoga practice. The next day I have planned to practice is Monday. QUEST GOAL 3: “EVERY THING WILL WORK OUT!†-20 minute jog in the early morning. -Basic Warm-up and Body Brigade Exercise A. With this final workout, this goal for this challenge is complete! This goal with the yoga goal was a lot for me to take on. I was working out in some form every day of the week--it took a lot out of me. Next challenge I am going to try for four days total. LIFE QUEST: “YOU’RE HISTORY!†Today's study session was on the Cold War. With this lesson I have reviewed and explored all the content for the test I was looking to take. With my studying complete, I am going to take some practice tests and sign-up for the official test in the next couple of weeks. I think I will continue my study sessions as time goes on, even though the challenge is over. I think I will add an extra 30 minutes for reading only. I am going to plan that with my husband and maybe help us achieve academic goals together. With this final day complete, this goal has been reached!
