  1. Day ... 5, is it day 5 already? Update, in any event I don't know why, but I'm completely tanking at the whole getting-out-of-bed thing. Maybe it's too much of a shift from last week and Christmas, maybe it's that I stay up late to check NerdFitness and drink port wine ... who knows these things? I'm going for 8 am tomorrow, and if I can manage that, I'll be happy. Going to set my Beyonce alarm and everything. At the end of the challenge, I'll have to evaluate which is the more effective for waking me up: Beyonce or The Clash. So far, the score is 0-0. On a more positive note, I've done my 5 km walks every day! It's been nice, I usually go for at least one walk a day normally, but often it just ends up being a shorter route to the store or so. 5 km (about an hour?) is enough that I can actually get into the mindset of walking, and will even feel a little bit tired after.
  2. Thanks! This year I guess a lot of people are experiencing both the good and the bad of working from home. It's definitely true that not getting that daily dose of both socializing and walking about you get at a proper office (without even thinking about it) makes a big difference.
  3. Well, I mean that already sounds pretty awesome with the dogs and the exploring! ... toasted with salted butter is the best way to have bread. I am mostly vegan, but some butter now and then is the last thing I'll give up. Good job on meeting your goals, inspite of work struggles!
  4. Following! I like your goals, and the approach of making sure that they're doable. I'm another all-or-nothing-type-of-gal, and one thing I do is I set these crazy goals for myself, plan a bunch, and then IN MY HEAD, it's like I'm already there. So I go for a run on day one, and already think "I'm the type of person who runs everyday", which inevitable leads to me thinking I can slack on day 2, and 3, and ... well. It's ridiculous. Focusing on getting out of bed, chips and walking seems much more reasonable, and pretty solid. Good luck!
  5. Great goals, and guten Rutsch! I also started in 2015, have been away and come back. Sounds like you did a ton of stuff in that time, though. The lack of sunlight is harsh (I'm in Scandinavia) - makes it really hard to get up in the morning for me. Sounds like you've got a good plan with the light and the D-vitamins.
  6. Happy new year! I'm working on my sleep this challenge too, it's especially rough after the holidays, I find. Good luck!
  7. Corpse run! Sounds like solid goals. The great thing about respawning is that you're not usually starting in the same place as before, simply because you know you can do it. In my experience, this makes things a bit easier. Good luck!
  8. Oooh, cool theme. Looking forward to seeing how the maze unfolds.
  9. Solid start! I like your meditation goal, am going to look into Smiling Mind. Sounds great.
  10. Following, because I feel like your goals and trying to build a solid base resonate with me. Seems like you're off to a great start! A bit envious of the snow, have been wishing for it since Christmas but so far, no go. Good luck tomorrow!
  11. I've never taken a quiz in my life, but just based on your picture and description, I'm now conviced I'm a sorcerer too!
  12. I don't even know what "crenellated" means in English! (off to Gurgle soon) - which other languages are you working on? Awesome work on your goals!
  13. Following, because your goals really resonate with me, and I love the way you're going about them. The whole forum thing is so much fun, but I know I tend to get anxious about following and answering people every so often, so this time I'm trying to really take it easy, keep things consistent but not be too hard on myself if I can't keep up for a few days. I think your approach to food sounds really healthy as well. Trying new things seems like a fun project (even though I understand it can be scary). I've definitely done the all-or-nothing approach in the past - and learned some things from every attempt! - but simply learning a bit about nutrition, knowing how to make healthier choices, and being aware has been the most helpful thing.
  14. The whole one-the-one-hand-on-the-other-thing is so hard! I really want a dog, or a couple of cats, but I like travelling too much at this point of my life. I appreciate living in a small town, but I really miss city life often. I think at the moment, my ideal is to kind of go with the flow and explore what is around me. Keep my mind open to change if any opportunities come along. Know that every lifestyle has its struggles, but the struggle itself can make things seem worthwile. Anyway, following, love your goals (also felt like baking cinnamon raisin bread now, even tho I dont even know if I know what that is)
  15. Day 2 check-in! Sunday was a bit of a crazy day to start the challenge, since I had a deadline and ended up working til very late. These are the situations I'm working to avoid, but one step at a time! Got out of bed at 9, so no points there. *Did* go for a long walk in the daylight - first proper cold winterday we've had so far, which was really nice. All in all, 5 km done! Monday started in a most Monday-like manner with bad news about my car and about a previous project. Going for a walk really helped my mood, and I ended up having a much better afternoon: *win*! Got out of bed at 8:30, so at least an improvement. 5 km done (even though my phone died because of the cold, so no proof even for myself) Oh, and I've almost finished my very first audiobook! "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell". I love it. ❤️
