  1. Good luck with finishing up with classes! I know I have 4 Papers left to do this week then only 3 more classes until graduation. Must be such a relief to know its almost over.
  2. I probably should not have just read about the filthy fifty after my first on ramp class :-/
  3. Bar tending course? and without sampling? How are you supposed to know if your drinks are any good?
  4. Good luck on no alcohol!, I know I can't do it, not for a whole six weeks, plus one of my rewards is a bottle of wine....
  5. Backstory After flunking out entirely during the last challenge, this will be my come back. I am finishing up the last of my papers this week, and then I am essentially free for the summer. Before starting school I was active, I ran, hiked, rode horses literally 4 hours a day everyday. I was outdoors all the time and loved it. But reality hit hard and I was forced to take a job as a serving wench in the local tavern. The job itself isn't that bad, but the fact that its easier to snatch bread out of the oven, than wait until getting home to eat makes it something of a eating nightmare. I have cleaned out my fridge of some of my most avid offenders, soda, & microwave dinners, and am beginning to stock up on veggies and meat. I also began a 2 month groupon Crossfit package today ($70 for 2 months HELL Yeah!) and will be done with On Ramp Friday. 6. Like everyone else I love your Manliness goals! This should be a great challenge and look forward to have you on my team!
  7. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am about this challenge, especially since it didn't start until after the GW2 open beta. I'm working on my first this afternoon and should have it up by tonight!
  8. Dammit, I literally threw out 2 old jump ropes this weekend during the final move :-/ Hello walmart...
  9. Crap I gotta hop on the planking boat, there is no internet in the new house yet so I only get to check forums at the old house and at school. Been trying to incorporate my work outs into house work, and hopefully will have a new blog up later. hopefully.
  10. LEGENDARY sounds good to me, but I agree all caps is a must. I'll avoid telling you all about the gorgeous weather we've been having down here...
  11. Hey everyone! I'm no good with names, so I'll stay out of that one. Looking forward to making this journey with all of you!
  12. Game on! http://nerdfitness.com/community/entry.php?4386-My-First-6-Weeks-Challenge
  13. Thanks everyone! I've definitely been collecting recipes, and eggs are already one of my go to foods, and really really cheap (you know since we have two chickens in the backyard). I'll just have to look into buying in bulk and freezing what I don't use right away. A freezer for the garage may be a good investment...
  14. My bf is the same way, I showed him Spezzy and he just looked at me and said "Don't ever get that muscular, I like your pudge" :-/. Also more recently he tried telling me all I really needed to do was cardio "since Im a girl". I honestly think he is irritated by my motivation, and would prefer I got overweight and lazy with him....
  15. I've toyed with going paleo/primal for a while I even succeeded for a week. My biggest complaint has always been cost. I am a poor college student. Right now I spend maybe $35 a week on food. Unfortunately it typically consists of sandwiches, pasta, and more pasta because lets face it, pasta dishes are a lot of bang for you buck. I know this type of eating (carbs carbs and more carbs) isn't ideal, but I'm not sure how I can afford to give it up. I set up a food budget last night and decided I can afford $200 a month on groceries. Is this doable on with primal? Is it possible without wanting to stab myself before eating another piece of chicken? I'm mainly worried that because of my restricted budget things will get to redundant meal wise for me to stick to it. Any estimates of how much you spend on food a week? Any ideas of how to eat clean cheaper? Basically anything that will give me hope that this is doable would be great.
  16. I started at a large D/DD and after losing my first 5lbs am already back in C range, so like has been said, everyone is different.
  17. 2 miles with my dog this morning, he's the perfect running buddy
  18. Soooooo glad I came across this. I have been on hormonal BC since I was 16 (originally to regulate super heavy, super frequent periods) and have had lots of ups and downs have probably gone through 10+ brands, lost weight, gained weight, boobs grew, boobs shrunk, mood swings, acne flare ups and currently I have no sex drive. My yearly appt is coming up and was planning on talking to my doctor about other options. After reading this thread, IUD seems like a great alternative. I'll definitely bring it up at my appointment, see how my Dr reacts.
  19. Since I'm running already in a 5k on March 3rd I'm totally down!
  20. I'm by no means an expert at all, but I did attempt going full barefoot last year. I had problems due to having Morton's Neuroma in one foot and it was just too painful for me to continue to attempt it. I ended up going with Nike Free's mainly because they where incredibly comfortable when I tried them on, they were one of the first shoe's I felt like I could move my toes in. I tried the Merrel "barefoot" line and found that even they seemed to constrict my toes. I think the best bet is to try out all your options and find what works best for you.
  21. Egg Muffins, these are the one thing I continue to eat from my attempts at going paleo (another which will probably be starting soon). You can use whole eggs or egg whites then toss in whatever goodies you want really. My favorites were sweet potato homefries, spinach, bell peppers, and bacon. Just type "PaleoEgg Muffin" into google and tons of recipes will come up. But definitely check out marksdailyapple.com its an amazing resource with tons of information and recipes.
  22. I'll jump on the journey! Went ahead and added my mileage from this week so far
  23. It has been really nice not trying to do this on my own, the extra support definitely helps (especially since it eliminates the soda, ice cream and other assorted temptations that used to be found in the fridge). I just went through Staci's post and can totally agree that it's not all about the number. I took a couple of pictures, and will largely use them as well as how my clothes fit as a guide, but as of yet I can't break away from the scale as an overall marker of progress. Although I'm pretty sure as soon as I can fit into my favorite jeans I'll be happy, and stop weighing.
  24. Hi everyone! I've been lurking for a bit now and finally decided it was time to introduce myself. I used to be in really good shape, worked out almost daily, ran 15+ miles a week, rode horses 3-5 hours 3 times a week; and then I had to get a job. So now that I have finally got more of a routine situated between school and work it's time to stop just pouting about not fitting into my favorite pair of jeans and do something, and I also got my boyfriend on board(who has also been whining about how heavy he has gotten). So today we woke up, did the beginner body weight work out then went for a run/walk(2 min run-1 min walk) we kept up the whole way out but, his Shins were bothering him pretty badly so we walked the way back. We did that first 1.75 miles in 19:32min so we know next week we need to do better. My plan, other than eating better is to: Run 3x a week(signed up for a 5k in March and plan on finishing in under 30min) Swim 2x a week(Just started swimming, right now I'm only doing 4x25m and it's kicking my butt) Strength Train 3x a week(One day a total body, One day Upper, One day lower) Yoga once a week I started last week, and last Monday weighed 129.5lbs (I'm only 5'2") this past Monday I was 126.25. My Dream goal is to be around 112, but I'd be ecstatic with 115. It's been nice just being able to come on and seeing other peoples success, It gives you that extra push. I looking forward to getting to know everyone as we share out progress and success!
