    Hold Shift to Run

In week 5, I finished C25K week 6 and managed to squeeze in some yoga In the last week of this challenge, I'm going to try and do the last 3 weeks of C25K in one - so one 25min run (which I would do next anyway), then a 28min run, then finally a 30min run.

    Hold Shift to Run

I only managed to run once this week but it was a big one. C25K week 5, day 3 - 20 minutes without stopping! Aahahhahhhhh! Average running pace was 7:42/km. Unfortunately I only yoga'd twice this week.

    Hold Shift to Run

So on Sunday night, I danced like a maniac at a concert and then the next day my calf muscles were very very sore. Then, after rock climbing and cycling, the next day they were very very VERY sore, could hardly walk. They're still painful today so I'm staying home from work to give them a rest. Really annoyed because I was so excited to get that 20min run milestone. I'm hoping that they will be better tomorrow and then I can at least do the 8min/5min/8min run I did last time. Gah!
  4. I love love love califlower rice. My favourite is to put a Moroccan spin on it, adding sultanas, nuts, and lots of spices

Thank Macha I'm glad the C25K is working too! Week 3 is now done. Unfortunately, life happened, and I only managed 2 runs and 2 yoga sessions. The next run in the C25K plan is week 5 day 3, which is a 20min run. I admit that I'm a little scared - I've never been able to run that long in my entire life. But then again, I never thought I'd even be able to do an 8-minute run and I did 2 of those in my last session. So here goes... !

    Hold Shift to Run

Second week down. Ran 2x Did yoga 4x Washed face 6x So I didn't quite meet all my goals - was 1 off from each one. I'm now on day 3 of week 4 for C25K - can now manage running for 5mins straight, which is a pretty big achievement for me! Also have continued to do rock climbing and it has been awesome. Yoga seems to be the most difficult one for me to get motivation to do, which is interesting because I thought I really liked it. Anyway, I'll try harder this week!

    Hold Shift to Run

First week has gone well! Washed my face every morning, managed to squeeze in 5x 10-30min yoga sessions, and did 3x 30-minute jogs. I'm doing the C25K program week 3 so I run/walk 1.5mins then run/walk 3mins, repeating twice, with a 5min warm-up and cool-down. My actual running speed is okay, at about 6-7min/km, but the walking brings the average speed right up to about 8:30min/km. Today I'll have a go at week 4, where it's: jog 3mins walk 1.5mins jog 5mins walk 2.5mins jog 3mins walk 1.5mins jog 5mins.Also I have kind of spontaneously taken up indoor rock-climbing. My friend took me along on Sunday last week, a day after I started this, and I've been given 2 free weeks. I went four times last week and I love it! Anyone else here do rock climbing?

Wow I hadn't thought of that before. I do have some eyedrops around here somewhere, I'll give it a go in the morning! Thanks Nedwin
  9. Introduction: My name is Qiyra, I'm a 21-year-old Australian PhD student who wants to be more physically capable. I'm a healthy weight (163cm, 56kg) but have a suspected hereditary heart condition (coronary fistula). Nothing that serious, it just means that my heart gets tired a lot quicker than other people's because one of the little arteries that sends it oxygen to pump isn't connected up properly. So I've gotta toughen the little guy up! MAIN QUEST: Be able to run for 30 minutes without stopping (STA +1) Quest 1: Run 3 times per week. Motivation = increase cardiovascular fitness (main goal)Attribute = STA +1Quest 2: Do yoga 5 times per week Motivation = to stretch muscles and maintain flexibilityAttributes = DEX +1Life Side Quest: Wash face every morning Motivation = to wake myself up! I find it unbelievably hard to get up in the morning. I'll need to be ready for my run.Attributes = CHA +1The attribute points are awarded at the end of the challenge, depending on what percentage of my goals I achieved (link to calculator). Check point saved... tomorrow will be day one!
  10. Hi everyone, just posting to say hello to this wonderfully nerdy community! I'm a 21-year-old Australian who would very much like to be able to do things. I've always been embarrassingly bad at running, sports, swimming, bike riding, or anything even remotely physical. I need to change, or else I'll continue to miss out on a whole area of life I could be experiencing. First step is to be able to run 5ks without stopping. Classing myself as an adventurer for now (running, yoga, and casual bike riding) but hopefully will find my own little niche. So, any tips for a beginner runner?
