  1. I'm alive and kicking! Won't be able to visit library very often though.

  2. My fellow Rebels; Sorry for disappearing so suddenly! We had a car break down and I wasn't able to visit the library for a long time. I'm not sure what my update status is either since we've been so busy. I sincerely apologize. Here's the little updates on my life in general. 1. I decided to be a Ranger in real life. 100%. My goal is to reach a Ranger-like-status by age 30! (That gives me 5 years to train.) 2. We got electricity! Just in time too, it's getting cold and bundling up inside wasn't quite cutting it. Electric heaters solves a lot of that problem. The showers are still icy cold though. 3. Flint, the new puppy, has tripled in size and is very obediant! I'll be training him to be a hunting and tracking dog. Ranger dog. Hehehe. 4. I'm keeping with a 6-week challenge style of doing things and will be even if I can't make it to the library to tell you wonderful people. 5. Halloween, my biggest worry with people trying to break into our "abandoned haunted house", has passed by safely. Not even a single car drove by. We had the house lit up like a beacon though. It could be seen from a mile away. 6. My 25th birthday is this month on the 24th, and I feel old... I know I'm not. Everyone I talk to seems to think I'm a kid. But I certainly don't feel 25!
  3. I like the new name! It's awesome. And it looks like you're doing really good too! Congrats on the leveling up!
  4. Never say never! Go for it, and complete those goals! (Very jealous about going to NF Camp by the way, how was it?)
  5. Fall is going good, but getting cold in the house! I suppose we'll be seeing snow by next month for sure. I'm not sure I'm ready for that.
  6. Quest Update #5 Day Fifteen: 10/05/15 Quest One: Did not weigh. Quest Two: More chocolate chips...poor cooner. Quest Three: Ended up sleeping the rest of the day due to depression. Life Quest: None. Review: Very depressed. A scary night a day or two before and then the killing of a beloved pet by my own hands. Received much comfort from friends here in the community. No Grade Given Day Sixteen: 10/06/15 Quest One: 227lb, went back up. Quest Two: No sugar Quest Three: None Life Quest: None Review: Had to spend an intolerable amount of time with some people I had never met before, then I slept all day and all night. Beginning to get back on track. No Grade Given. Day Seventeen: 10/07/15 Quest One: Forgot to weigh Quest Two: No sugar, done with those chocolate chips. Quest Three: Did not find time in daylight for BBWW. Life Quest: None. Review: Got up properly, did my chores, and was feeling much better about myself. Got the newspaper and saw a little clip about puppies for sale... Need I say it? I spent the rest of the day traveling to get my new puppy! He's so cute! The other dogs like him too. Grade for the Day: C Day Eighteen: 10/08/15 Quest One: Not in the mood to weigh. (Weighing too often is bad anyways, right?) Quest Two: No sugar. Quest Three: Went on a nice long walk with the dogs. Life Quest: Cleaned up the kitchen. Grade for the Day: A Review: Rebounding complete! I feel like myself again, and I'm eager to regain what I lost (or lose what I regained) in my couple days of hardships! Feeling good, and ready to tackle the world again. Plus the puppy is cute! We named him Flint.
  7. Indeed it is so... ; n; That's what I think I'll name this week. "The Wars." Thanks for the virtual hug. I'll admit I'm looking for comfort today. The idea of chopping wood and beating rugs sounds great though. Maybe I'll just work out til I drop today. I've noticed that workouts give me a mental high by the end, and heaven knows I could use it.
  8. Thanks. ^ ^ My name came from a roleplay character I used to do online. Half-elf named Pygmalion. His name eventually got shortened to Lion, and the name got stuck to me. I didn't want to be Pygmalion though, so I'm Dandelion instead. That way I could be 'Lion' without being my character all the time.
  9. I'll try. Thank you, OPM. :/ Yeah, I'm pretty sure they used the house in the past to party. They're probably the ones responsible for all the broken windows. We just got the new electric pole put in this morning, so we're waiting on the electrition to come do his thing. The floodlight sounds very useful and will probably do that. I don't think I'm beating myself up too bad... It is what it is, like you said. Maybe I'll edit the post later and up the grades when I'm in a more positive mood. Unfortunately, I do know how to fire the shotgun. I had to shoot our poor pet coon about two hours ago. Poor thing got rabies, and was no longer the sweet cuddling raccoon he was a day ago. I'm having a terrible start to the week.
  10. Thanks! I think that would definately help if I was planning on going somewhere, but in the meantime I don't see a difference in making a salad to eat right now in a jar or on a plate. I can't keep them for long with no refridgeration. You are you! If you want to be Jodie, be Jodie. If you want to have another name, go ahead. Just let us know when or if you change so we don't get confused.
  11. Had to shoot our pet coon this morning. Could use hugs. >_<

  12. Quest Update #4 Day Eleven: 10/01/15 Quest One: 222 w/ fluctuations Quest two: No cardio Quest Three: No Sugar Life Quest: Was counting on mowing the lawn until the lawn mower caught fire. Grade for the day: A Review: I was relying too heavily on mowing the lawn for my cardio and life quest. How I would do better: Have a back-up plan in place. Day Twelve: 10/02/15 Quest One: 224 lb with fluctuations Quest Two: Had a small amount of ice cream Quest Three: Complete! Life Quest: Did much shopping. Is that cardio? Grade for the day: B Review: Date night again. Didn't eat the best and felt AWFUL when doing the BBWW. Junk food is bad! How I would do better: Eat a salad before going on date night! Will be less hungry and less likely to make bad choices. Day Thirteen: 10/03/15 Quest One: 223lb with fluctuations Quest Two: Ate no sugar. Quest Three: None Life Quest: Vaccumed a neighbor's stairs. Grade for the day: A Review: This was actually a TERRIBLE day. Well... night. Terrible night. Between 12:30am and 12:45 am we had two pickup trucks pull up in front of the house and roughly eight guys in their 20s came out, all drinking beer and smoking and laughing. They went up to the front door and started trying to break it down while two of them went around to the side and started climbing the fire escape. I had called 911 as soon as they were in our lawn. My husband grabbed a shotgun (thank goodness he was home), and went to the other side of the door they were trying to break down. He waited a good 5 minutes or so until he realized they were beginning to spread out and surround the house to find another way in. He yelled at them; "WHO THE **** IS IN HERE?", gave them about 10 seconds, then shot through the door. I was watching from the window and listening very carefully to what they were saying. I must say here that they must have had an idea someone was living there because our dog was barking at them the entire time. I heard them say his name, which implies that they had him by the collar, and then he yelped in pain. I'm of the believe they kicked my dog. Anyways, when my husband yelled, they started running back to their trucks as fast as they could go, dropping all their beer cans in our yard. When he shot, they started yelling at each other "Go go go! Run!". My husband ran out to the driveway and fired a couple more shots in the air to make a point as the trucks dug trenches in our lawn in their haste to escape. Unfortunately, just as they left the police showed up and started to chase them down. After about a good half hour to an hour or so, the police came back empty-handed. The trucks had given them the slip even with two cop cars on their tail. They got our story and left. I don't think we went to bed until 5am in the morning after that. How I would do better: Let the next people who try breaking in to our "abandoned" home get inside first so the police can catch them! > Day Fourteen: 10/04/15 Quest One: Did not weigh. Quest Two: Ate lots of chocolate chips, ice cream, and apple crisp. Quest Three: Played volleyball with neighbors. Life Quest: Day of Rest Grade for the day: F- Review: Mentally distressed from the day before, felt justified in eating sugar and distracting myself from the (rather scary) events of the night previous. Did nothing productive all day. How I would do better: I'm not sure what to say here. Still feeling justified. Week Two Review: Quest One: Lost ~4lb or so this week. 6 lbs in total. Quest Two: Two more failure days with sugar, other than that doing good. Quest Three: Have not missed a BBWW since Day One, started adding additional cardio in on 'off-days'. Life Quest: Besides mowing the lawn, did not truely clean any rooms. Need to improve. Grade for the Week: C+ Review: Was doing quite well (except for date days) until the break in. Mentally fell off the boat and need to pick myself back up. How I would do better: Eat more salads, especially before date days, choose fruit instead of ice cream, find better way to return to positive mental state without chocolate chips.
  13. I can't imagine doing a load of laundry every day! I have to do ours by hand as it is. (More excercise.) I'll definately try to make a reasonable cleaning schedule and see if that helps, although I've switched out cleaning rooms for mowing the lawn as you noticed. I think I've nearly mowed half the front lawn so far... I already decided I'm not even going to try and mow any fields. Just the front and back lawn would be fine. They're big enough as it is! Goats would probably work if they stayed in the yard and didn't wander away. Those cravings are awful. By the end of the day it didn't matter WHAT I ate, I just wanted something with sugar/salt/fat.
  14. Just filled out all the mini-quest questions on my thread here !
  15. The Mini Challenges So far: Week One: Get Smart 1. I believe the quest is acheiveable. 2. All quests go towards my Main quest. No sub-quests at the moment. 3. Again, I believe they are realistic. I can scale them down to take longer if need-be. 4: Goals are very trackable. Have been doing so already. 5. Have been doing the Pass/Fail version... Should come up with a reward for effort! 6. No excuse for sugar here, but if I get ill or injured I'll alter my workouts to match. 7. Did not take any days into account, not planning to for this challenge. 8. Nope! They fit together well. 9. Oh, I've got the time. 10. Both! I'm building multiple habits FOR my main quest! For completing this mini-quest, additional +1 WIS at the end of 6 weeks. Week Two: Making Friends 1. Updated signature a while back, will add progress bars today. 2. Joined "Rangers R Us" in Accountabilibuddies. For completing this mini-quest, additional +1 CHA at the end of 6 weeks. Week Three: The Library 1. The part of my quest that is the hardest is the CLEANING. My Life Quest is the hardest for me. I'm too content to sit on my bum. 2. I found a couple PvP challenges dealing with the subject, but no offical articles... This seems the closest. 3. While I'm not interested in joining this particular challenge, it does strike me that they have specific schedules for what they do. I shall make a cleaning schedule to go by. For completing this mini-quest, add +1 of corrisponding stat. For me this would be +1 WIS.
  16. So... I just gotta comment. Our "indoor water" at the moment comes from a garden hose attached to a broken mainline. Yup. If I want hot water, I have to put it in a pot, and heat it up over the camp stove. In short: I'm a freakin' Cold Ass Viking that can shower in cold water for a good half-hour. (Have been showering this way daily for 8 weeks or so. Since moving.) Keep at it guys.
  17. Welcome to the forums, Snow! I love me a good forum too, when I can. I took fencing when I was in college and loved it! I wish I could continue. Based off what I remember doing as part of fencing, I'd say doing the Beginner Bodyweight Workout is your best bet. Lots of lunges and squats, which as you know, is a big part of fencing! Just based off the fencing, I would suggest looking into the Monks Guild to see what they have to offer. They're usually focused on things like that. Other than that, start trying to move more, eat healthy, and look at joining in the next 6-Week Challenge! Sounds typical, I know, but it's working for me.
  18. In the library again. Weighed myself on the scale when I woke up this morning and it said 222. Whoa! How'd I lose two pounds at once?

      Haha! I'll accept that!

  19. Looks like you're doing good, Jodie! Yay! I have to ask though: what is a jar salad? I must have missed that post somewhere.
  20. Quest Update # 3 Day Eight: 9/28/2015 Quest One: 226lb with fluctuations. Quest Two: Complete! Feelin' good! Quest Three: No sugar. Life Quest: Mowed part of the lawn. Grade for the Day: A Review: My left arm is hurting after the workout in certain positions. I'm not sure what I did wrong. On the plus side, down a pound! How I would do better: Check the positions and posture of each excercise to ensure safety. Day Nine: 9/29/15 Quest One: 225lb with fluctuations Quest Two: 30 minutes of stairs followed by a 1 1/2 hour walk. Quest Three: No sugar! Life Quest: Mowed part of the lawn again. Grade for the day: A+ Review: My left arm seems to be OK, even in the positions that hurt previously. Lost another pound, happy about that! How I would do better: Excellent day, would not change. Day Ten: 9/30/15 Quest One: 224lb with fluctuations Quest Two: Complete! Also didn't stop moving from 7:30am-8pm. Quest Three: No sugar, but really bad cravings. I want pizza, donuts, cake, hamburgers, chinese food, ice cream, muffins, chocolate, and cream cheese frosting with nuts. Ugh. Life Quest: Picked up sticks, made hay, mowed part of the lawn. (Nowhere near done.) Grade for the day: A+ Review: My left arm hurts after the workout again, even though I was super careful. Beginning to think it's how I'm sleeping on it, and will try sleeping on my back instead. Lost another pound! I think the secret is to mow a never-ending lawn for a few hours everyday. How I would do better: Sleep on back instead of on arm, move full-length mirror into fitness room, brush teeth when hit with cravings.
  21. I wish I had my sweet tooth sorted out years ago. XD Lately I've been having junk-food cravings so badly that I took a banana, mushed it with unsweetened cocoa powder, and added peanuts. I have to tell myself not to do that too often. The cool-downs and stretching definately help with the soreness. I remember reading an article somewhere here on NF that said if we are running short on time, we should make the workout shorter, but not skip the warm ups and cool downs. Thank you! We're working on getting electricity put in. We should have lights (and heat) by the end of this month. I'm actually a little mixed on my feelings towards getting electricity back. I've been much more productive and healthier without it, and I like getting up and going down with the sun... But we need heat! (Plus it'd make charging our phones a lot easier.)
  22. Bacon grease in my cast iron is how I do a lot of cooking for my husband. XD Two strips of bacon are enough to cook eggs, homemade hashbrowns, and fried onions. Toast on a cast iron is super easy too. My breakfast is usually pre-made. (Boiled eggs and veggies.)
  23. Absolutely~ Welcome. @ Everyone else: Glad to hear everyone's doing well!
  24. Ooo~ Pretty! Those do look handy. I'll look into it a bit, but I've gotta go run soon. (Literally.) Thanks!
