  1. Thanks.... I'll have to psych myself up pretty good for that... I've still been using butter (I heart butter) to cook my eggs in the morning and half n half in my coffee... otherwise, yesterday's diversion with the creamy laughing cow yumminess... and some mozzerella on my spahgetti (with spaghetti squash unre....interesting stuff that was.) was the first diversion since last Fri.... hmmmm....
  2. Hi Julianne!! I'm new here too. Although I'm ALOT older than you (Im 33), I also have action heroine wannabe goals
  3. I have been trying to be at leat 90% paleo, but finding I am desperately missing things like Laughing Cow cheese wedge things (which I had some of today) and greek yogurt with berries... My goals are to drop fat (would like to drop a full 10% from 30 to 20% but would be happy with 5%) and to gain strength. Is one better than the other for fat loss/muscle gain?
  4. what...the...crap.... I deleted my rambling and yet still I get trolled on. lurvley.

  6. I don't remember seeing how big you are, but really, you are probably not eating enough overall to make gains AND be a functional human bieng....
  7. That totally rocks. That first mile is the ABSOLUTE hardest. and @ 11 min, for your first stright up mile? respectable!!!! Nice job.
  8. I recently started Starting Strength (because I am one. weak. girlygirl.) type workouts - I will be honest and say I have not read the whole book (read some...), my husband is reading it and is passing on the info and the most important part -FORM- stuff. Today as part of my workout I did back squats (5 @ 65) but felt like my form was not 100%, bench press (wont do those again til someone can watch and show me what I am doing right/wrong) and deadlifts (5 @ 85) I feel like I could have done (and could do) more, and to truer form. Is it OK to do the same lifts 2X in 1 day?
  9. Wondering also at what point you no longer see effective gain in strength on Starting Strength -- -AND what the heck do you do after this happens???
  10. I am also new to "paleo" or "Primal" eating. I did try the Zone a while back and found it tedious to exactly weigh every bite I take in.... I am finding over the course of the past week-ish that it isn't TOO painful to leave sandwiches for lunch behind and that breakfast does not have to have Eggos in it. Personally, my aim is for 80% of the time eating paleo/primal (meaning some dairy) and the other 20% reserved for special desserts..pizza...beer.... I HIGHLY reccomend the book Well Fed by Melissa Joulwan. SO many yummy ideas, none of it hard to do. Today I had: eggs with blueberries and coconut butter coffee with half n half and stevia chicken soup (homemade the other day. SUPER yum.) for snack A brined and roasted chicken thigh and a big helping of steamed spinach with ranch dressing made from homemade mayo (all from Well Fed book) snack will be a Scotch Egg (Well Fed) and probably some baby carrots dinner will be spaghetti squash with a sort of bolognese made with ground beef, canned diced tomatoes, frozen pepper and onion blend and whatever other veg I find that might be good. (Based on Weekly Cookup in Well Fed!!!) I will probably also have a small square of super dark chocolate melted in a little ramekin of coconut milk for a chocolate pudding dessert........ (I know, some say chocolate is not paleo, but I feel that dark chocolate is just as paleo as all the coconut stuff!!) Good luck, and stay in contact!!
  11. Hi!!! I started a blog here and then posted a probably too-enthusiastic post about Crossfitting outside a Crossfit gym and realized it might be nice to actually introduce myself. I found this forum while following links from one site to another.... I ended up on a sort of testimonal page of Spezzy - and how she went from junk eating couch potato to being a little powerhouse and all the stops on the way. SO inspiring - as my story was similar and would LOVE to someday have the power-to-weight ratio (and ahem, bod?!) of THE Spezzy I'm Pixelpusher. I'm a 33yo momma of 2 crazy kiddos (who are also destined for nerdom...) ages almost 6 and 2.5. I am of the graphic design geek variety (anyone else here get excited when Pantone releases the "colors of the year"?), I am a Mac and also like crafting, sewing, cooking, baking, nutritional anthropology, sci-fi (Star Trek & Star Wars!), and.........CROSSFIT!!!!! As I just rambled about in the CF Guild area, I do crossfit independently. I do my WODs either at home in my basement or at my local LA Fitness. My husband also Crossfits, and we are building our own arsenal of equipment slowly in our basement, which is soooo exciting!! (I realize everyone here does not drink the Crossfit Kool Aid, I probably drink far too much of it as well as the Apple Kool Aid!) Since I started from knowing pretty much 0 about what to do with a bar )and actually remember standing around looking busy waiting for a guy to leave the squat cage area just so I could make a fool of myself BY myself several months ago), I am still learning. I am reading (and honestly so far reading via osmosis from my husband reading it and him relaying info) Starting Strength by Mark Ripptoe, which I should have done 6mo ago. I also decided a few weeks ago to clean up my diet - which had gotten pretty crappy. LOTS of sweets. Sugar addicted. I have been about a week + an iffy weekend oh, 80% Paleo. I do think I will end up with more of a primal diet after I get settled in, but right now I want to drop some fat and put on some serious muscle. I am STILL super weak and pretty squishy even after roughly 6 mo of CF. Oh, and btw? I ramble. alot. sorry. Nice to be here.
  12. ...edited to delete... Realized how know it all I sounded and A-don't want anyone getting hurt and B- I don't want my first real post to draw fire from the anti CF folk that I recently noticed..... Too gung ho right off the bat, so.... Deleted.
