  1. Ok, sorry for the absence. My week kind of got shot to hell because of DH's medical stuff. Long story short, we had to plan a trip to Dallas with only three days warning, and with that kind of schedule there was no way I could stick to my diet. There was no time to prep anything, and all my energy went to that. I still lost 2 pounds, but honestly I think it was stress. This week I'm just hoping not to gain it back. Today's our anniversary, so I'm trying to figure out a good dinner. We've got steaks, but I'll be honest, I've never cooked a successful steak in my life. Think rubber. We both freak out a little at pink, so well done is the order of the day. And my mom bought me a veggie spiral cutter, so I'm going to make some baked potato and zucchini fries. Not sure what to do for desert, but my mind is swirling around on that one. Wish me luck!
  2. I have a video I want to share, but It's on Facebook, and I'm not where I can post it to NerdFitness's Facebook page.
  3. Thanks, deftona. I'm just not sure how to get moving. I think I might be dealing with some mild atrophy, to be honest. I was working fast food, which meant I was up and moving around even if I wasn't eating so well. Now I've been behind a desk for a year and a half.
  4. So, today I was only able to do about the same as two days ago, because the muscles in my legs were protesting so strongly. I'm not sure how to get past this point. I'm having trouble walking, to be honest.
  5. Yes, the beginner bodyweight workout. And I've made my goal of going strictly paleo+dairy (meaning I will still eat cheeses that have aged longer than 120 days because all the lactose is gone). And I dropped 20 lbs in six weeks the first time I tried the paleo, which got me down from 300 to the 280 I'm at now, and that was without exercising. It's just that with everything in my life, I fell off the wagon, and I was creeping back up, so I had to stomp on it.
  6. Ok, so you have to have watched the one episode of Doctor Who for that title to make sense, but if you have watched it, you already know why. (The Doctor's Daughter) My goals over the next six weeks are to get up to three complete circuits and lose 20 pounds. My starting weight is 280. I won't be weighing until the last day of the challenge because I don't want to spaz myself out.
  7. I'm only into this a couple of weeks, and I think I might do better with someone to work with. I love sci-fi, superhero movies, and Dr. Who, and right now I'm just trying to do a complete bodyweight circuit without killing my legs. RL would be best, but online would be okay, too.
  8. So. We already decided I've been swallowed by an alien. But my husband has been dealing with an alien invasion, and the little monster is trying to kill him. In July of 2003 he was in a car accident, and he was told by doctors at that time that he had a tumor which was going to cost him his sight if he didn't have it removed, so in September, that was what they did. We thought all was good with the world. Then in 2008 he had his first grand mal seizure. Then there was another one two weeks later. But then they got further and further apart, so we thought it might have just been that he slipped and fell, hitting his head on the sink right in the place where he'd had his surgery. It made sense to everyone, and nothing showed up on the CT. A year later he had another one. After a while, since they couldn't figure out what was wrong, we stopped going to the ER. No one ever prescribed an anti-seizure medicine, not after his surgery, and not once he started having seizures. I treated him at home as best I could. For a while they seemed to be getting further apart, and we thought they'd stop eventually. He had one in November of 2015, and it had been two years before that since he'd had one. Meanwhile I had changed jobs from fast food to desk jockey, and jumped from the 275 I had held onto for 10 years to 300, and I was introduced to Nerd Fitness by my sister. I fell off the wagon because it was hard to find food, but I was ready to try again to escape from this Slitheen suit. Until Nick started having smaller and intermediate seizures a couple of months ago. Suddenly all focus shifted to him. I couldn't pay attention to my alien problem, not when his cold war was heating up so quickly. He was sent in for another CT and that's when they saw the beast. They needed a better picture, so they sent him in for an MRI. I took the morning off to help him through that, then went to work for the rest of the day. That night, he had another grand mal, so we took him to the ER, only this time we chose a different one. This time, we found the Doctor. He put him on an anti-seizure drug, took a full history, actually listened to our concerns. So has his companion (nurse practitioner) at the Family Health Center. And between them, they're helping us to find a neurosurgeon who can help him deal with this tumor. The little monster's species is called glioma, and it's got it's little tentacles into his orbital sinus, around his optic nerve, and most worryingly, around his cranial carotid artery, as well as invading the brain itself. The seizures are actually not being caused by the part in his brain, but by the constriction of his carotid. And that's the part that could kill him. I want to respawn, but it's hard to focus on my food and get back to exercising when I know he's got this alien bomb in his head, and whether we'll be able to pay for his medical needs and all the coming interplanetary travel (Dallas to Amarillo). I honestly don't know what to do. The Doctor can help with the aliens, but he can't help with my life.
  9. Not delayed at all. I took Aleve before I started, and I'm feeling it anyway. I'm actually about to take 2 more, as soon as it's 8:00
  10. Not sure if this is the right place for this post, but since this is the most diverse forum, and therefore the people with the most diverse injuries, I put it here in hopes of getting a knowledgeable answer. I know I over-did it today. I plowed my whole back yard under in 4 hours. Here's the sitch: This years lawn was an utter disaster. Weeds the size of Christmas trees, and they covered the yard twice! I'm NOT doing that again. So the plan is to put the whole thing in winter wheat and clover for now, and then interplant with lawn seed in the spring. I'll end up with a nice lawn by this time next year, and we'll never have to deal with the Christmas weeds again. Great plan, right? But it didn't take into account the ginormous task of actually getting the ground plowed up. I walked the tiller from my Mom's to my house, a distance of about 1/4 mile, and it took 45 minutes because the thing is so slow. The space is about 50'x80'. I didn't go all the way to the fences, leaving a 3' perimeter, and there are some places I didn't plow because there are two trees and one really well established patch of grass. The tiller was a monster, and when it hit something underground, be it tree roots, rocks or grass roots, it jumped and tried to run away. So it was a four hour fight with the beast and then putting down the seeds and watering. I did take an Aleve before I started, but I still feel the muscle strain in every major muscle group. This is going to be bad. Any idea what I can do for first aid so that I can actually work tomorrow? I'm not feeling it too badly right now, but I just know I'm going to be a ball of tenderized meat in the morning. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  11. There's a real person in side the Raxicoricofalipatorian instead of the other way around, but the comparison is apt, and it's time for the real me to get out and breathe. Yes I am a Whovian, hence screen name, but like the character I've named myself for, I just know that if I can ever get out of this alien suit I'd love running, especially in real places. I have a treadmill, but I only plan to use that thing when the weather is too miserable to attempt going outside. For now, though, I'm fighting the alien! I've done two days of cardio and two days of strength training. Take that, Blon Fel Fotch! (Sorry, you really need your nerd glasses for this one. )
  12. Amarillo, here. Still my first week, so that's why you didn't hear from me when you originally posted. My sister turned me on to this website. She was there in the room when I found out I had hit 300 lbs. Bodyweight/Cardio mix right now, but I plan to become a runner, maybe go back to Tae Kwon Do, like when I was a kid, too, but deffinately on the running. "Love the running!"
