  1. Anybody has any advice on how to deal with histamine intolerance? Suggestion for a nutrition plan? How it fits with, for example, Paleo? Seems easier finding food one CANNOT eat than otherwise, which is not so practical. Not to mention changing not just my own diet, but trying to adjust to my family, social events, going out... The weirdest thing is that I have been having this for years and no doctor figured it out, while I cannot distinct anymore the difference between my allergies, a simple cold and this intolerance. With very low energy and a constant stuck nose, it's time to fight this monster with magic, wits and discipline! Thanks!
  2. Hi Teirin! Thanks for your message, finding a dojo seems not to be a prob, just I'm nor sure could I follow it easily in a foreign language (I'm abroad, after all)... will see dough, getting some money beforehand would probably give me a stronger push.
  3. Hispanohablantes, English speaking...
  4. This is the best definition of those days... not for me (I'm too restless), but surely will made a couple of my close friends happier. Regarding people being difficult - there's one note I'm having on my working table which may help you too: DON'T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY - people are not thinking of you, rather being preoccupied with themselves. Good luck with the challenges!
  5. I need to. Specially at the beginning and when having (what I consider to be) the final version. At the very beginning, I need advices is it readable at all, since I often tend to be confused - after all, it's like spreading out your own world which makes sense to me, but not necessarily to the other person. This could be painful, since people can - with or without intention - criticize you and, as you said, hurt your feelings, but it's a good exercise for controlling one's ego. In the middle, I apply some of the suggestions, some of them not, know better what I'm up to do and be in a creative fever. At the end, I mostly need people to check my grammar, translation & co. Not forgetting that I may realize what I've written some weeks/months afterwards
  6. Hi everyone in the courtyard! Do you have any advices, suggestions, tips, what one should do in order to prepare (physically and mentally) for karate? Last year I figured out that I'd like to get into martial arts for sure for a number of reasons, and (at least for now) karate seems as a nice choice. I've joined the forum about a month ago, challenging myself to get into daily exercises and building some progress before definitely taking any classes. Have no experience in martial arts whatsoever! Thanks!
  7. Economy is a hard one for me... and I really need to be concentrated, although for some issues he was researching, I'd be perfectly fine with a brief summary than reading it in detail... The main challenge is that book is borrowed and that want to give it back soon. As well as the fact that I want finally to read the source, after seeing him being quoted in many books and articles. OK, here's a short recap of my challenge - I'm 9 days late, but I was late to start with, so it kinda levels out Waking up early and 1h of daily exercise about 80% done. Workout log & water 95%. About 70%. Got into Paleo - done! I'll need to write the essay this month, although for this challenge I've been just planning, writing down ideas, reading and collecting the material. Marx is not done yet - have about 100 pages to go, I'm in his most complex economical part... Daily plan of activities - 80% done. So, the final points look smth like this: STR 3 DEX 0 STA 3 CON 0 WIS 4 CHA 2 Thanks all for your support!
  8. Hi Cole! I've just joined myself (in my 4th week challenge) and while I'm reading your detailed post, I'm not sure what to say except... GO! Of course, maybe some basic coordination between your health issues, nutrition, interests and free time would be a good place to start, specially if you're dragging some dead-weight from before. Seeing what makes you going at this moment + not making you have bad consequences. I need the stamina to once, in the future, get into the martial arts! And here's a support song: The Power Is Yours.
  9. Thanks Lil' Miss Sunshine! OK, updates after more than 3 weeks (Level 1!!!) and some time offline. I've awarded 10 points to myself like this: STR 3 - I do feel to be stronger, at least while adding up the exercises, raising the weight or repeating the series. The workout log helps me a lot in tracking this. And big shoppings at the local markets too. DEX 0 - This one is still pending... I guess. STA 2 - Same as STR, but I'm also having days of being very tired, urging to take power naps, which is, I guess, the need to balance my sleep, diet and exercises, since I'm still getting up around 6-7am. It's been a long time since I've been feeling like it's time for bed around 21h! CON 0 - Got ill in the meantime, nope. WIS 3 - I had a couple of rough arguments, which I wanted to face. And needed to kick myself in the butt to start doing things that I'm avoiding for some time... or which are taking me out my comfort zone. Braver? No idea. But has a feeling of change. CHA 2 - I'm feeling happy exercising, and sharing it with the people around me. Still don't see many changes in the mirror, but they would eventually come. What changed from the initial plan? Main quest: all well. Mini #1: depends on the day, but mostly fulfilling it. I often go to meetings walking about 1h to and from (or, if it's a business one, I tend to walk afterwards and avoid getting stinky beforehand). Mini #2: no snacks, and implementing Paleo diet from this weekend. Life side: Marx is still there... I've being reading a lot for my course and preparing the literature to start writing (guess it's the preparation, accumulation period), while I'm setting the structure in my head. Daily plan is going ok, not perfectly (being online sometimes too much), but still keeping me planning. + I've got a friend from Serbia who is also kicking herself in the butt too to exercise, so we're helping each other out, specially because she's more into fitness than me, so I'm asking her for advice. Well, I really need to buy REAL jogging sneakers (next week) and stop destroying my fingers (although I'm running just with my socks on on the treadmill). My reward in the evenings: watching Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (totally hooked). Ultimately, I've introduced the "no exercise" day, after figuring out that I was often feeling tired. Plus, once it was a muscle sore, other day I was ill, and the third time - I just wanted to give myself a break. So, why not - once a week. That's all folks!
  10. Haha, I had the Plan Nanny too, was kinda boring, but good for reminding I'm also having a bottle (with some blended ginger and lemon) next to my bed, on my table and in my bag, just in case I don't have an excuse to drink less... so far so good, I'm between 2 and 3l. Well, from your post, it sounds that you have pluses too - hiking, more water, and figuring out the pot thing. Bit by bit! And you're still here, regarding the consistency!
  11. Thanks everyone for supporting! Updates: I'm managing to stay faithful to 95% of the plan till now. Have a 2l bottle I'm carrying around everywhere (mixed with lemon juice and pieces of ginger). There are days when I'm not for doing both the gym and jogging in the mornings, so I just postpone one for the afternoon, but still exercising is getting me out of bed every day. Then, like yesterday, I've spend one and a half hour in the gym which was surprising for me. And I think it's good not to have any day offs - limits excuses! Regarding the side quest, this week is full of meetings. @Luciana Thanks for the tip, I'll follow it for sure! It came as an idea last year, but before going to any martial art classes, I need... well, to be prepared a bit. And I think it's a good mix - philosophical aspect to keep my brain working, self-defense, and using the "empty-hand" approach (no weapons!) @Platzhalter Reading is there, although Marx is watching me unapprovingly from the table... he's fighting with Latin American "descolonización"...
  12. Hi everyone! Feels like finding my corner Like to follow your art! I'm spending too much time making project grants, fixing budgets and coordinating people, while the art essence gets neglected... while not specifically defined in my current challenge, in my weekly (non-fitness) plan, I have "networking" and "cultural enrichment". Mexico city has an overwhelming amount of museums and galleries, seeing some of them during the week and meeting artists/curators/etc seems as a good way to go. Need also to convince myself that mingling at exhibition openings is a great way to meet people and get information (gotta face my social anxiety and the fact that you mostly don't see any art at all at these occasions). And - need to write an essay (OMG, in Spanish) regarding the current course I'm in. That's all for this first post! P.S. I'm a freelance curator and art historian, if you're interested, check my work.
  13. Good luck TheDungeonCrawler! For many years, I wasn't happy either with seeing myself in the mirror... from fat I went to skinny fat. Now I'm taking a selfie every week to track my progress and, honestly, seeing (any good) changes makes me feel better. Dunno will that apply to you, anyway, keep on keeping on
  14. Great goals and super that you're following your progress every day! My b-friend's got a similar candy situation at his work... as soon as he made his no-sweets plan, it turned out there were x birthdays, x farewells and x promotions during the next week. He's also on a fitness challenge - he gave away his stash and started turning down his colleagues when they offered him cakes&co. One day I hope to get into martial arts myself - so I'm also here to hear smth new P.S. Also got a tip to follow Pavel's work.
  15. I was almost there to say "great plan, but don't get pressurized to have everything detailed", and then I've payed more attention to my own schedule... Great plan and keep on!
