  1. This will be my second try at finishing a 6-week challenge. The first was early last year; I didn't define my goals well enough and never followed through, not even enough to log any progress or lack thereof. But the past is done and this is now. I'm setting measurable, realistic fitness goals for this challenge. The personal goal relates to my working towards a BS General Business degree. I'm a junior right now when it comes to college credits and about 20 classes (most of which I can test out of) from earning my degree. This will be my first 6-week challenge of the year but it won't be my last. Onward and upward! Luneowl Human Adventurer, Level 1 Current stats: (STR): 2 (STA): 3 (CON): 3 (DEX): 2 (WIS): 3 (CHA): 2 GOALS: Fitness: Do the Beginner Body Weight Workout 3 times per week, (M, W, F) Grade: A: 3, B: 2, C: 1, F:0 (STR) +3, (DEX) +2 Fitness: Walk 5K (3.1 miles) three times per week (Tu, Th, Sat), steadily increasing to 8K (5 miles). Grade: A: 3, B: 2, C: 1, F: 0 (STA) +3 Fitness: Prepare my meals at home, 3 per day (emphasis on eating paleo); no fast food. Grade: A: 3, B: 2, C: 1, F: 0 (CON) +3 Personal Goal: Study for college course tests at least two hours per day with the goal of taking one test every 2 weeks. Grade A: 3 tests, B: 2 tests, C: 1 test, F: 0 tests (WIS) +3
  2. Challenge accepted! My mini-challenges: Starting tonight, do the baseline reps in my body weight workout three times this week, before next Monday. Increase the reps if the baseline feels too easy. Make ahead of time and freeze enough meals for the coming week so I'm not tempted by the "don't feel like cooking tonight" vibe to go out and get fast food instead. Study Macroecononics towards the goal of taking the test late next week. Clean the top shelf of the main bedroom closet. Read and follow the first three chapters in the Learn to Draw book.
  3. Whoops, thanks for the heads-up: corrected! This is my first 6-wk challenge and I can use all the advice that I can get!
  4. Beginning Character: Luneowl, level 1 Race: Human Class: Ranger Age: 46 Height: 5'6" Weight: 258 lbs Stats STR: 2 DEX: 2 STA: 3 CON: 3 WIS: 3 CHA: 2 Fitness Goals: Bodyweight workout: Body weight squats: increase from 60 to 100 per session. Plank: increase from 30 sec to 1 minute (at minimum). Body weight lunges: increase from 60 to 100 per session. Also work on perfecting my form in each exercise. Walk at least a 5K at minimum 3 times a week. This will help me earn: +2 STR +3 DEX Track workout: Fitocracy and this forum. Diet Goals Eat Clean: Meat, Vegetables, Nuts, Seeds. No bread or fruit. No alcohol. (I swear, it's keeping me plateaued) Track food and supplements: MyFitnessPal Blood sugar medication Daily vitamins These will earn +2 STA, +1 WIS, +2 CON Life Goals Establish a daily routine for myself. (I'm not working now and the days get away from me without a job to force me to be efficient) Declutter the two closets in my apartment. Study at least an hour a day for testing out of college courses towards my bachelor's degree. Read and follow the exercises in the book on learning to draw that I've had for years. Hope to be a working artist some day. This will help me earn +2 CON +3 WIS My Story I've been overweight since I was 8 years old. I reached my highest weight (298 lbs) last September when I couldn't walk to the break room at work without getting winded.*This was a big wake-up call to me and I changed my lifestyle. I started to eat paleo and began taking long walks, doing some beginning body weight workouts. I dropped down to 258 lbs but I've been plateaued here for the past 6 months. I was confident that 2012 would be a year of big changes for me and they've happened, though not exactly how I'd hoped. Within a 5-week span I lost my job, was dumped by a best friend and my oldest sister died. My challenge is to begin to feel positive again through eating clean and getting stronger so that I won't fall into the depressive rut that I can feel open at my feet. There's plenty of time to turn this year around and make it one of my best!
