  1. Work quote of the day: "Jeeeezus Christ! You need to stop violating me with cucumbers!" - overheard this evening
  2. You have art powers??? I see no reason why sharpies don't count as ink. My brother uses them exclusively for his designs.
  3. I really like some of the ideas these ladies had here in this blog post: http://www.bohoberry.com/bullet-journal-hacks/ My captain's log looks like my brain barfed on every page, but I'm still under construction. I love how tailored to your lifestyle you can make them. I want to start a new one and include my sketches for Inktober. Sketchbook/ fitness tracker/ planner/ journal.
  4. @insanity That sounds like a nightmare and a half.
  5. This is great. It's like the eye of Sauron if Sauron was a Zen Buddhist cuttlefish.
  6. Head colds cause me to hallucinate. Since 2014 I've been seeing a small black cat with no face dart in and out of my peripheral vision that visits whenever I'm congested. Anybody here have experience with strange hallucinations?
  7. Or nothing in the rules stating they have to use chairs. He's used to telling people to stand.
  8. A human sneezed in my face a few days ago. Now I'm infected. And allergic to decongestants.
  9. "...YOU LITTLE TURD BURGLAR!!" - overheard at work. Three seconds ago.
  10. Depression is one of the scariest monsters out there. For me I find that really, really small changes are the only thing that works. If I try a grand scheme I don't complete it and it crushes the miniscule reserve of self confidence I had built up. Tiny, doable things that you can accomplish, no matter how ridiculously small, will help. For big goals, try to break them down into little tasks that you can complete every day. At least you know you're moving toward your goal and are being productive. Medication does work for many people as does counseling. Never did the trick for me and medication almost killed me dead, but be mindful, try to track your brain and find what's best for you personally. This site is full of really cool, supportive nerds who are always here if you need to talk about it.
  11. Vincent van Gogh never got to see this masterpiece. He died one year too soon. Could this man's life be any more tragic?
  12. Apparently you and Sjard remember the battle differently:
  13. That was an awesome thread. Randomness needs a home otherwise it runs rampant everywhere else. Can you imagine the impact fish-weilding dinosaurs would have on the Daily Battle threads?
  14. Welcome to NF fellow book nerd! Patrick Rothfuss is the bomb.
  15. @LadyGrey your Pokemon studies are adorable. All my Pokémon need to be pirates from now on. Horses are awesome for art studies! Drawing a convincing horse takes a good eye for shapes, angles, shading, and textures.
  16. Awww yeah, an art post. You guys are good! I've chosen the creative life. I sculpt, paint, sketch, draw, and design creatures mostly. My latest project were three soft sculpture poseable dragon hatchlings. I had to learn to sew to get them assembled but it was fun. Here's one of them.
  17. I noticed the same thing with my art when working full time. It's definitely a use it or lose it skill. Like many of our fellow artists here I try to stress sketching every day, but also don't skimp on sleep. Sleep is incredibly important for healthy creative juice production. Your figure sketches have nice proportions. I'm interested where your art will take you.
  18. I don't know why this post affected me so much. It's so upsetting to me to know that there are people who've been so emotionally beat up that they're afraid to try living again. Not only that but you actually believe it's your own fault. I have no advice for you relationship-wise as I can't even keep a goldfish around for long, but I can tell you that you need to start treating yourself like that girl is treating her big green friend. We all have scars and issues, they're an occupational hazard of being human. It'll all work out fine.
  19. That's a great list! And that cosplay outfit is too cool. I've never cosplayed either, but it looks like it would be a blast.
  20. I've been a minimalist all my life. Mostly because I travel around so much on a shoestring budget. Realizing how much you REALLY need to live comfortably changes your entire perspective, I think. I value experiences over things, relationships with people over the gifts I've received from them, and stuff is just stuff. I don't think there's anything wrong with owning things. If it brings you joy, why not have ten pairs of running shoes? It's only when your stuff becomes a shackle that it becomes a problem. If you're feeling anxious and burdened by all your things, by all means, clear out some breathing room!
  21. NF caught my attention sometime last year. Loved the concept, but life was awesome back then and I forgot how important it is to have a support group. That didn't last long. I suffer from severe clinical depression and Celiac disease. After life handed me a hefty fine for bad karma I turned to sugar and alcohol and unemployed moping. This left me how I am today. Which isn't in the best condition. It's time to stop taking this from myself. I need my ferocity back. So I plan to make some allies here, feed my fire, and start burning up life's challenges in my hissin' spittin' uptonogood style again.
  22. Life does this. Your body needs some time to heal itself, so be gentle and give it the love it needs. The drawing board is a great place for new discoveries. Maybe you'll find a new routine you love even more than your old one. So keep your chin up, eyes straight ahead, and stay fierce. You got this.
