  1. Alright, I should mention first that I'm looking to gain weight. I'm currently 125-130 and about 5'10'. I looked around and made a list of workouts I think I'd like to do. I've done them a few times now and have reps down. What I'm asking is for some assistance in determining a solid number of reps/sets. What I did this week was Warm up - Jumping jacks, basic plyometrics, and a short run. One arm dumbbell rows - 8 reps and 3 sets Pull ups - 5 reps and 3 sets Push ups - 10 reps and 3 sets (I'm going to start doing the clap ones soon) Deadlift - 5 reps and 3 sets Squats - 15 reps and 3 sets (I used about 40 pounds for my first time - I think I should add more weight. Or should I add reps/sets?) Inverted Rows - 10 reps and 3 sets Dips - 5 reps and 3 sets Planks - 3x 30 seconds Bench Press - 5 reps and 3 sets Stretch/cooldown I did a lot of different things this week, but I tried to keep things pretty simple. I don't really know what to do with the amount of sets, how much weight to lift, or how many reps. I feel like that might be a lot to do in a single session so I'm not sure if I should remove things. Should I do something about the order? Is 1 to 1 and a half minutes good waiting time in between sets? I think that's about all I have to ask. If there's anything else you'd like to say in general about a good exercise schedule for gaining weight I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance, Zack
  2. Thank you so much for the response Durandal. I sorta forgot about the online menu for Sodexo (same provider). I feel like based on what you said that I'm on the right track. I've been eating 2500+ calories a day and 150+ grams of protein too. I don't think I'll go paleo - I can't be giving up dairy just like that. It's too delicious. Anyway, I appreciate the incredibly quick responses guys. I'll check back tomorrow afternoon.
  3. I have no food allergies what-so-ever so that's not a problem. Currently I'm going every other day and doing compound workouts. I've been eating the Greek Yogurt specifically actually. And no, I don't skip meals. I've always been small, but I eat like a guy twice my size. I have a few small follow-up questions. Are fried eggs fine? I have no kitchen at my school so I'm forced to eat the eggs that I can get at the dining hall. Also, about how many calories do you think I should be consuming?
  4. Hey guys, I'm here to really make some changes in my life (obviously). However, I've got a few issues that I just can't really figure out how to solve. A little bit about what I want to do before I get into it. I really want to gain weight and build lean muscle. I eventually want to join the military and aim for special forces. Not only that I'm getting back into parkour (I used to do it a bit in high school). So, now that that's outta the way... First off, I'm still in school and I live on campus. I can not afford to make my own meals on top of paying for the mandatory meal plan. So, I have to eat what they serve when they serve it. That means I only really get three meals a day when I'd like to be eating more. I've been writing down what I eat and looking up the closest thing possible on Daily Burn Tracker to figure out what it is exactly that I'm taking in (calorie/protein wise). Is there a better way you could suggest that would help me keep better track of how much I'm really eating? The biggest problem I think I have is not being able to figure out a real serving size. Second, I'm not exactly sure how much I should be eating. I've been reading around and I can't really find a good answer. I'm currently about 125-130 and I'm 5'10'. I'd like to put on about 30-40 pounds (and do it the healthy way). Third - What about whole milk and grains? I've been reading a lot about the Paleo diet and I really don't know if that's going to work well for me. Not to mention I really enjoy my breads :x Four (I'm sorry I have so many :<)... How many grams of protein should I be aiming for? I remember reading somewhere (I think here maybe) that it should be about 1g for your desired weight. So would aiming for 160+ be good? And last... What should I do about carbs? I've noticed that I seem to intake a rather large amount of carbs. What's a good amount that I should aim for? And should I be eating any around dinner time or later? - Zack P.S - One small thing that doesn't really need to be answered. What are some good between meal snacks? I'm currently eating plain yogurt and some fruits.
  5. I figured it was about time I introduced myself. I've been lurking for a while now and just recently decided that my life is in need of some change. I've made a lot of different goals and I sincerely hope that sharing everything here will help me out. I'm working on strength training in order to gain some muscle and some healthy weight, I'm dieting (as best as I can with the limitation of college food), and I've got a long list of other life goals that I'll spare you all the details of. Anyway, I'm Zack and I can't wait to start getting to know everyone here. Also, I'm a really, really good League of Legends player and am looking to become a game designer after college. Hit me up in game if you want, my IGN is the same as my username here. - Zack :>
