  1. Rawr! The challenge is complete and even a few days after still dont need the candy nor the ciggies! Just a couple of weeks and I will be 3 months smoke free! Im pleased that this has all been accomplished during this festive season and year end . These are such stressful and social times Im happy that I was able to learn how to navigate the stress and social awkwardness with out ciggies and candy. The yoga class I go to on Tuesdays have been such a treat! Im getting stronger and better and am excited about how much I have to learn! Through these changes I managed to loose 6kg (13lbs) during the challenge! Im really amazed at how easy it seemed... I would like to thank awesomesue, koaladle, jormungand, and Rab147 for your encouragement! Ive been following you guys as well and hope next time to be better at encouraging others (social goal) - you guys were great examples!
  2. Wow its been a couple of weeks, and there are but a few days left to the challenge! Things are still going great! Im now looking for a second yoga class to go to in the week! Im totally loving the class I do on Tuesdays. Im also pleased with the secondary effect of the self confidence boost I have gotten taking care of myself and remaining committed to these goals!
  3. The taste is allright its the texture that makes my stomach turn. I had that with roast crickets, I found it difficult to swallow a leg - made me hurl! Ikea and bugs I like the cut of your jib Rab!
  4. @ awesomesue Im trying to imagine how atomic fireballs quell morning sickness! YOU are the hero! When I started stopping smoking I went the candy route, but I had a moment where I noticed that I had candy on my work desk in my purse all over the place at home, I realized that I was still killing myself. That was my motivation to start getting better at taking care of myself and being really committed to it. Which brings me to this weeks progress report! Its all going really well. Im really getting used to living without ciggies and candy! Did my first shoulderstand in yoga yesterday! I told my yoga teacher that I can tell Im getting better because I look at the clock at a later time in the class!
  5. Hello GMT+1 ers! I expect all is going well with yall, or there would be more chit chat here! Its going really well here, on both fronts eating and exercising! Keep up the good work!
  6. Agree. I mean, geniet maar met mate! You recognise it as a food that is a not compliant to your big picture goals but its not what your focus sis on at the moment to achieve that goal. You are doing great with your goals thats where your will power is being used for, keep those on track, next time you might be able to make a different choice.
  7. Thank you! indeed its the season to have more candy around than usual! My three supplements for smoking and candy! 1) Toothpicks (makes my oral hygienist also happy in this process!) 2) crunchy raw fruit and veggies - carrot sticks being my favourite 3) if I really need a sugar fix then i make a "drink me" chai. It has been great losing the candy and the smokes!
  8. This is exactly what we plan and we also still do the shoe thing on saturdays! Its a cool holiday, with the sint journaal and all.
  9. Ha ha Rab, better you than me at ikea! I feel like my soul is being sucked out - its how i would rp dementors! Im going to try next time and see it as a giant playground for adults! I will certainly remember your post! This is the first year that my son has stopped believing in the Sint. So Im planning on doing a little something on the 5th. Maybe some chocolate money and mandarins for the hubby and my son along the way; I cannot help but celebrate these things.
  10. Keep it up! Taking care of yourself will help you stand stronger in relationships you are not happy in! Good luck! /hug
  11. Week 3 day 1 Had a good weekend and feel great this morning! Did not make it to a second yoga class but did the beginner bodyweight work out instead. I am not missing the candy or ciggies as much, i seem to be happy with the "goto's" I have in place lately.
  12. Joshua thats the one! So awesome! thanks for the gif!
  13. Hi All! Welcome kkzinger! I hope yall had a good weekend, mine was fine, excepting the obligatory trip to ikea, but yeah I survived that too! Rab you are off the south and east of me! Did you get caught up in the St Nikolas activities this weekend? I hope the Sint put lots of GOOD goodies in your boots! Add1sun great stuff in regulating your drink! I think its kinda like stopping smoking in that you need to figure out what else is cool with out using them. Sulinar whats the plan for this week and how did it go last week!? Keep up the good work folks and have a great start to the week!
  14. Hi, My signature is sorted, and I have met up with some folks in the CET time zone! As for the beast mode! I went to the gym in my office and used the weights there! AND NOBODY MADE A PICTURE OR TWEETED IT OR ANYTHING ...
  15. Thanks for the welcome! Add1sun, good luck with the tempting situation. AS Rab said, I find if I just have clear in my head (even taking stock )of the beer bottles I will limit myself to helps me to stop when that time comes and to pace myself.
  16. I also need to post the points for completing these challenge goals: 1) No Smoking +5 CON, with this one I either earn the points or do not 2) No candy +1 WIS + 4 CON, 1 lapse +4 CON, 2 lapses +2CON , more than two lapses these 6 weeks no points 3) Attend 1 yoga class a week +1 WIS +1 STA + 3 DEX , miss one week +3 DEX, miss more than one week no points
  17. Its been longer than I wanted to log in my challenge progress! I had a smashing birthday party last weekend and board meetings this week which kept my attention else where! In spite of this, I have been maintaining my goals well. Smoking did cross my mind during a drunken moment this weekend but luckily it was passing! I have not had any candy so far, yesterday I had a mouth watering moment - I had forgotten when challenging this goal during the SMART analysis that 11/11 is a local holiday where the kids run around and sing for candy at the neighbors. Its the Dutch Halloween! So there I was with a bowl full of candy for the little tots with my mouth watering! My husband made it very fun by making fun of the situation! I also attended the yoga class on Tuesday. Once again I was dripping with sweat! I really didn't expect yoga to pose this kind of challenge but I like it allot. I will not be able to attend the class tomorrow, but maybe I can find one this weekend!
  18. Hi guys! I too live in your timezone and would like to help! Im a Texan now living in Amsterdam. I also have two consumption goals, so it sounds like a nice fit. I cannot get the link to work in my signature, but expect to have this soreted when Im back home from work!
  19. Thanks! It wasn't too difficult, there are many yoga studios in the area here! I am happy that this school is so supportive and that I the two teachers left really nice first impressions!
  20. Hi Just wanted to check in after half a week in the challenge! Last week friday I did a tryout lesson at a yoga school in the city centre, it was beautiful and the atmosphere was great! The class was very good and I felt great afterwards. I became a member and decided to try a different class on Tuesday. The Tuesday class was really tough, but the teacher was really encouraging and I made it though the class. I feel challenged to go again next week! I will also be going to the friday class with some friends tomorrow! So I can put a check in this weeks column for attending a class this week. WOOT! The abstinence from candy was a challenge on my first day at work! I seemed to have developed a sensitivity to smelling sour wine gums, Its mouth waveringly maddening! Ive been chowing down on carrot or celery sticks. In these moments I have this vision of Samantha in the Sex in the City movie trying to remain monogamous, stuffing her face with guacamole watching a beautiful man on the beach. Tonight Im going to a gig, which I have not done since I quit. I am going with friends that do not smoke and hope I will not miss it too much. @Bekah Thank you for your support! I will take you up on your offer for sure! Well thats it for now! I will check back in, in a few days!
  21. Is your overall quest achievable (over a short or long period of time)? Is it reasonable? Yes my main quest is achievable over a long period of time. Do your 3 quests all build towards your main quest in little ways, or are you taking on too much? Do your quests have sub-quests or is it just one thing to focus on? Yes my focus seems to be on my consumption - cigarettes and candy and a little on getting more mobility in my life. Are your main goals realistic? Can you scale them to smaller steps to fit your life better, even if it will make it take a little longer to achieve them? Yes most definitely Are your goals able to be measured and tracked? What will you use to track them? Yes these goals are either done or not. How are you grading your goals? Are they pass/fail (“every dayâ€, “not even once over the six weeksâ€)? Is there a reward for the effort, or are you only grading yourself on whether or not you “lose the weight†or “run the distanceâ€? My goals are either pass or fail, everyday I do acknowledge passing or failing! I will reward my self with a gift with a value of EUR 260 (6.2 (current price for a pack of piggies) * 42) What is your plan for continuing/altering/grading those goals if you become ill or injured? The consumption goals are ok in these cases. The yoga class attendance is something different.... I will continue to work on flexing and stretching the non effected body parts, find another day to attend class if I am ill on the usual day Did you take into consideration any special occasions (Labour Day, Independence Day, birthdays, anniversaries, etc) that may occur during the challenge? What modifications do you need to build into your goals for those? Tough days for smoking 5 Nov - Thurston Moore concert - going with friends that do not smoke! 7 Nov - Birthday Party Bash! - providing carrot sticks aplenty! Everyone coming know that I quit smoking 28 Nov - Ladies night out! - going with a good supportive group! I have said no to other outings, to avoid any further temptation. Though days for candy Other than every day! It is getting easier as the days wear on! 5 December and the arrival of St. Nick! I will make sure to have my carrot sticks and celery sticks on these days! Do any of your main goals conflict with each other? Will one goal make it hard to do another? I think I may have been hard on myself eliminating the candy when Im quitting smoking. I do have in my mind that the smoking goal has a priority over the candy goal. Do you already have the time in your schedule to actually complete the goals you’ve set? If not, what are you planning to do to make time for them? Totally! Are you trying to build multiple habits, or is all your energy focused on your main quest? Building multiple habits to build toward the end goal of losing weight and getting old healthy!
  22. Hi thanks all for your comments! The nicotine cravings have subsided, luckily! I just know with all the parties coming during this festive season I'm going to be sorely tempted! When I am smoke free after new year I will have more confidence. @Blaidd Holland is a great place to live! I love it here, have you ever been?
