  1. Last week I started the Paleo lifestyle and I have to say it was a lot easier than I first thought it would be. I don't miss sugar or dairy and I didn't have any cravings. The biggest challenge for me is to add more meat into my diet. Something I'm working on though. I'm also down 7lbs! Since I have over 100lbs to lose, this loss is huge for me. Every little bit helps but this was more than I was expecting. Also, I'm feeling good and am excited and confident that I can reach my health goals. Anyhow, I was pretty excited and just wanted to share. Thanks for listening and thank you everyone for all the information you share on these forums, it truly does help!
  2. A weekend in July sounds good. Count me in!
  3. I'm in! http://nerdfitness.com/community/entry.php?4034-My-First-Challenge
  4. This is a good thread. And in all honesty, something I want to know about, but probably wouldn't have started myself. Thanks Durandal for starting the thread!
  5. I'm curious to see some of the suggestions as I've been looking for one as well.
  6. If there was only one reading of your blood pressure that was elevated then there should be no reason for alarm. Many factors could have caused it to be elevated this time when she took it. I agree with the others who say to listen to your body. Maybe check your blood pressure again at different times and see if it's still, consistently, elevated. If it is, look to a next step, but if not, I wouldn't worry about changing anything.
  7. I must warn everyone, I'm a little socially awkward. But don't worry, it's not in a 'scary, you'd be embarrassed to be seen with me' kind of way.
  8. When I first started working out I was a little bummed that I wasn't losing much. Luckily I get weighed on one of the scales that breaks everything down for you so I could see my fat%, as well as pounds of fat, muscle, etc. This helped me a lot because at one point I gained around 10 pounds of muscle in a month (I used to be athletic so I guess what they say about muscle memory is correct). I lost more fat but it looked like I didn't go down much if I only looked at the total weight.
  9. My commute is approximately 6 miles each way. I'm hoping that by the time Spring rolls around I will be able to bike it, haven't gone for a ride that long yet, so I'm also hoping that it won't take much to be able to bike 6 miles.
  10. I would love to try one of these types of races one day. Glad to see there's at least one around Toronto. Not sure I could handle the whole freaky clown and zombie thing though. I'll have to at least keep it in mind.
  11. ETFnerd, I hope you don't mind but I copied the post about you kicking a$$ and I'm going to print it out and post it around my apartment and at my desk for my daily motivation. It's exactly how I want to look at things through this whole weightloss, get fit, journey. Thanks for the motivation!
  12. Thank you for the welcomes. I've been reading up on the Paleo diet and think I will give it a try. Chances are I'll never be 100% Paleo 100% of the time, but I can make some big changes. I love the information I've been learning on these boards, as well as Steve's site.
  13. I'm glad this thread was started. I need to set myself up on a budget and I was originally thinking of using Excel but now it's nice to get the names of a few other programs to look into them. Thanks for sharing everyone.
  14. I, too, can't do a full pushup so this gives me hope. I can do them from my knees but I think I will switch to doing incline pushups to help develop all of the muscles needed. I'll also include more bench press exercises (not so good at these yet either).
  15. I am so glad I found this thread! I'm looking for something good for a D/DD cup so it looks like I have some good options I can look into.
